You are a Wood-elf, anyway, though Elves of any kind are strange folk. Yet you comfort me. Where you go, I will go.
I love and admire coyotes; their ability to survive, adaptation, and tenacity has been nothing less than inspirational. They've always been here, and will still be here.

#you ever read a poem written 2000 years ago and think to yourself#'it's a shame martial never knew about twitter'
saying this all the time tbh. those bitches would have loved social media
Not just the poetry. Quintilian wrote a whole thing on how Cicero would have been the greatest orator but he just couldn't restrain himself and HAD to make a joke. Completely serious speech persuading the people to sabotage a law that was in their interests and he'll throw in, 'Juba, a young man no less well endowed in money than he is in hair.' He really called the king of Numidia a rich twink. He would have been banned from Twitter. And rightly so.

you know what? fuck it *reads the fanfic I spent hours writing for my own enjoyment*
if you’re not rereading your own 3yo one-shots every once in a while so you can shake your head at the ao3 tab and mutter god i’m fucking funny then what are we even doing all this work for?
Except if I'm writing as a gift (and sometimes even then), I'm writing for my ideal reader.
My ideal reader is me.

If you're writing 18th century dialogue, this website lets you search words and phrases to double-check whether they were in use & meant what you intend. It doesn't include every period-accurate use of a word/phrase, but it certainly helped me separate genuine 18th century grammar from the vague tangle of 💬old-fashioned fancy-speak💬 I've internalized from TV and video games.
