I was watching the Robin Hood tv series and I realized how Jonas Armstrong looked like a younger version of Colin O’Donoghue.

{outofeyeliner}: killian jones is not captain hook. captain hook is not killian jones. and i shall tell you why. with pretty pictures so you can follow easily because it's confusing me too.

Our tale starts with Peter Pan. The Peter Pan that returned to his parents from Kensington Gardens to find that they'd had another child, effectively replacing him, in his mind. Of course, we all know that Peter went to Neverland. But the little boy that was left behind to live the life that Peter could not eventually followed.

The title of Peter Pan is passed down from boy to boy, with Peter's sibling soon arriving in Neverland to take his place. Obviously, Peter refused to give up his title to his brother and they fought a war that devastated the island. The younger sibling left on a pirate ship that had strayed most accidentally into the waters surrounding Neverland, vowing revenge on the lost boy and to grow up swiftly.

And so, the younger brother was soon adopted by the owners of the Admiral Benbow Inn, taking on the name of Jim Hawkins, as he'd quite forgotten his own in Neverland.

As pictured below, Peter's younger brother has now become Jim Hawkins at this point in our story.

And as you can imagine, being Jim Hawkins, that whole thing with pirates happened. It seemed that Jim had struck upon his idea of how he'd get revenge on Peter, it taking many years for him to multiply that which he'd gained on his trip through stealing and selling to afford himself a crew and a ship he thought grand enough to sail the waters of the Never Island. In this period of time he met a woman whom he fell deeply in love with and they married. They had a son, Liam, and Jim for some time turned away from his life of piracy. But soon deciding that he'd wasted enough time and forgotten about his mission, abandoned them both. It wasn't until years later that Jim was told of his second son, Killian, after the mother of his children had died. Both the boys had taken their mother's maiden name after she had branded their father a coward.

Soon taking the young boy with him, he promised Killian a life of adventure. He decided that Liam was old enough to make his own way. For a handful of years they had a good relationship. That was, until it was time for Jim to return to Neverland. He knew that Pan would corrupt the boy and that he'd be in grave danger if he were to go with him, and so left Killian to fend for himself, telling him nothing.

Obviously, at this point in our story, Peter's brother is Liam and Killian's father. We have no pretty pictures of Killian's father, I'm afraid. Thanks, Once.

Returning to Neverland, he rejected the name Jim Hawkins, fashioning himself a more refined image, taking on the title of Captain James. He kept this until a particularly fierce battle with Peter, in which he lost his right hand to the jaws of a crocodile. He then became known as Captain Hook, taking James as his first name as he'd lacked one for a few hundred years, and became the fearsome pirate pictured below. Because tbh he's the best Captain Hook.

So, to round up, Killian is not Captain Hook. Captain Hook is Killian's father. Captain Hook is also Peter Pan's brother. Peter is the only surviving person who knows about this. He finds it frankly hilarious. Bonus points for the hook related irony that seems to be genetic.
