R&R || chapter 1 || closed for yuki
shslbento:
Yuki entered the church with a full rucksack on her shoulders. She thought sheād seen someone go in here a while ago, but it was hardly unheard of for her to imagine things like that. And even so, it may not have been the right person or peopleāoh, Eiji. Good.
He approached her well before she could close the gap, but she didnāt seem to mind. She shuffled the straps off her shoulders at no quick pace.
āHello⦠Ebina-kun. Oh, humm⦠I think I had some mango⦠Nothing excessive, I guess⦠And Iām really not particularly tried, so itās nothing to be worried aboutā¦ā
She hummed. āUsually I reserve tea time for waking myself up⦠And some sleeping medicines might work, but⦠Iād need something strong. And if itās addictive, we couldnāt really afford to keep buying something like that⦠Maybe thereās some kind of sleep medicine in here, thoughā¦? I wonder if video game sleep syrup would be addictive⦠Hummmmmmā¦ā
Before she could adequately shuffle through her back, Eiji had flown on to the next topic.
āHahhā¦? A⦠Iāve never had a massage before; Iām not sureā¦ā
Was she really going to turn down the opportunity to have a cute guy rub her shoulders? No way⦠Probably. Uh. She picked at her collar for a second before realizing she didnāt have one.
āOh, umā¦! Have you eaten yet? Itās a little early for me to be personalizing bentos much, but I did make one for you⦠With some fruit. Hahaā¦ā
She finally managed to locate a box among the others in her bag that had a little splotch of bluish tape on it. āThough I can throw it back in the icebox if youād rather have it laterā¦ā
It wasnāt often that Eiji received gifts. In fact, he couldnāt remember the last gift he received from someone other than Kei (and it was very hard to remember even that). His eyes widened when Yuki pulled out a bento which, from the sounds of it, was for him. As his cheeks slowly began to redden, he glanced away.
āAh, Kurokame-sanā¦ā he began, only to pause. He had to choose his words carefully. āIām not sure I can accept this. I mean, maybe you can give it to Kubota-dono instead? I think heād appreciate it. Though itās not that I donāt want it! Iām simply⦠uh⦠allergic⦠to bento.ā
That was clearly a lie, and he knew it was obvious. He tugged at his collar and cast his gaze towards the ground. To lie to such a sweet girl was despicable, wasnāt it? He was already undeserving of the gift, but now even more so. His hands returned to his sides and he bowed deeply.
āIām sorry, Kurokame-san. Iām, um, not actually allergic to bento. I merely donāt deserve your kindness! I havenāt done anything for you. So please give it to someone else, okay? If not Kubota-dono, then someone else whoās nice. I just donāt deserve it at all.ā
Slowly he straightened up to study her properly, a very timid smile on his face. He prayed he had let her down easy and that she wouldnāt mind.
