Hi, is this story still active? I was enjoying following the events...

We would like to continue it. We really would. Unfortunately, no one has really been participating in the events. That was probably our fault in the beginning, we weren’t really good at setting up clear conflicts and situations. Everyone was getting to know each other, and it seemed like people were afraid of stepping on our toes as the story tellers.

So we were hoping that as people grew more comfortable in the story they would begin to interact more. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. So at this point we’re really unsure as to what to do. Without muse interaction, the event seems pointless.

[Oh no! I’m sorry this isn’t been fun for you anymore although I completely understand the enthusiasm dropping with time.

We’ve been moving the plot a bit with @keepnightvaleweird I think though, so if anyone from the storyline (or outside of it) would like to continue moving it without the events, I’d encourage them to do so! Unless that’s not okay with the mods here]

If there are still people who are interested in participating in the story we would love to keep posting events. We have an entire story arc planned out with events already planned for weeks in advance, after all. The problem isn't that we have no enthusiasm or motivation. The problem is that there's no one participating anymore.

“Listeners, I have breaking news. As many of you know, the first annual ‘Children’s Week’ has started today, and I myself have just experienced the first act of tyranny this new rule has brought. My coffee - my glorious, Void black brew - was brutally ripped out of my hands by an SSP officer and thrown into the pit in the intern break room. Let me repeat - a perfectly good cup of coffee, wasted!!!”

“You can imagine my dismay and utter shock, dear Listeners, but just as I was about to protest this blatant destruction, the officer reminded me of the strict ‘no caffeine’ law that has recently come into effect. While I had thought that the children would be more lenient towards those of us who work late hours at strenuous professions, it would appear that it is a blanket law, affecting anyone and everyone. Even the Hooded Figures are being denied at the local Starbucks; however, it would appear that the form of denial includes the barista curling up into a ball and sobbing under the counter while the Figures make their own cinnamon lattes.”

“I have no idea what this week shall bring, but I imagine it will take all our strength, all our fortitude as a town, to weather through. Until next time, dear Listeners. Goodnight, Night Vale, Goodnight.”

A loud growling came from within the radio breakroom, interns giving each other fearful glances as they scuttled by the open doorway. Inside, a lone figure stood hunched in front of the counter, claw-like hands gripping the edge of the faux-marble counter top as if trying to rip it off.

“Still….. no…… coffee?!?!?!?!” Cecil hissed, lips pulled back in a snarl as he glared balefully at the empty coffeemaker.

“I can’t work in these conditions!!!!”

The snarl turned into a pitiful whine, the energy leaving Cecil’s body as he slumped to the floor.

“Please…. just one cup??”

Tamika grinned at the council notes. As a kid, she was able to take part in this week, and it was going to be a blast. Oh, what to do first? Have a book day? Maybe an hour where everyone achieved perfect, soulful harmony with the universe and its words. The possibilities were endless, and she was going to do as many as possible in one week.

Event Four

After a short hiatus, we’re back with Event Four: Children Run the Town.

The little brats got rid of all of the caffeine, so your muse will have to go to the Monday morning services completely caffeine-free.

Tensions are running high, and munchkins are running rampant. What on earth is your muse going to do?

(Hint: If your muse has kids/young relatives, this is a good time to introduce them.)

Notes From Council Meeting 19 9/10

That treacherous group, Keep Night Vale Weird, has not yet been captured by the Secret Police. We ask any citizen with information on these troublemakers to please come forward. Remember, the reward for information leading to the capture of Keep Night Vale Weird is lifetime stop sign immunity. We actively encourage angry mobs and/or witch hunts, so long as they are directed at Keep Night Vale Weird and not at the city council.

In honor of the first annual “Children’s Week,” kids now control the laws, the shops, and our sanity. They have decided that their first act is going to be depriving the adults of caffeine in return for “the years of sugar deprivation that have amounted to decreased levels of energy”. Coffee, tea, soda, caffeine pills, and any other supplements are now banned and all adults have an enforced curfew of seven pm and bedtime of nine. Any adult out past their curfew without a ‘child’s note’ will be escorted either home or to jail by the nearest SSP operative.

The children have also decided to cancel Street Cleaning Day for the seventh week in a row. Their reasons for doing so are unclear.
