The Long Walk, Finale [Drabble] Part 5
The sound of cracking bone, the jerk of her shoulders, the pain of ligaments and tendons rearranging. The two priests watched in soft horror as the creature, the demon, the abomination they came to slay underwent a change. Her body twisting, contorting, and breaking apart and rearranging itself. Her black fur shimmering in the soft light and both of the would be hunters looked at one another as they felt a shift in the air...
The Creature stood up on its hind legs, its outfit torn, and shredded save the loose cloth around its waist. Her feminine features hadn't vanished yet, clearly they had become more masculine, the chest flattened, and muscle structure more defined. Each of its arms flexed as if it were waking from a long sleep and shaking off the last vestiage of drowsiness.
Yet they could feel it, that killer intent, that sensation that made the hair on there necks stand on end. Both of them gripped there weapons tightly, as they prepared for what they knew had just become a real battle...
The old elf asked with his voice steady yet he could feel the human's courage waver.
" Who am I... i have many names, and have been called many things... but my kin have no names, no titles... no words to describe ourselves... but today--- you may call me Judge, Jury, and Executioner... or simply Death... "
The Creature's claws unsheathed in a swift motion as he moved like lightning! It had the grace of a feline, and the killing intent of a savage beast! as it struck the human first! the human's blade came out but the creature grabbed it and snapped the blade like it were tin foil! before driving his hand like a spear into the humans stomach and grabbing his spine! turning him like a shield! to block the arrows from the elf! the humans gurgled cries! were choked by his own blood!
The priest tried to gain distance! watching as the creature drove its claws into his ally like spear heads! until all four of its claws were imbedded inside the struggling human! he dropped his sword and screamed! but it was cut short as the beast pulled the human's body in two parts with one swift motion! tearing him in half and sending each half of his body into the ally walls! blood splashing across the ground, and covering the creature!
The priest's eyes went wide with terror! he'd never seen anything so horrific in all his time as an inquisitor! this creature's physical strength was immense! he lifted his bow, and gave a soft chant to his god! and unleashed the arrow! yet this creature before him caught it, and stared at the arrow tip dripping with poison!
" Ah a cowards weapon... for only a coward would threaten an innocent woman... back her into an ally and promise death--- all in the name of your god... well little priest! where is your god now? will she save you? don't fret... i'll take my time with you.. "
From the dark ally far away from prying eyes, the screams of the priest echoed, and yet... no one came. No one rose to his aid, no soul took notice...
Until the screams turned to gurgling chokes and then--- ceased... and the ally went silent ... and cold.
