At the beginning Alastor only coughed up a few buda and petals.
It was almost pleasant, after awhile of late night talking & bantering (Alastor should have never underestimated him, he thought Angel was a bit of a sex addled ditz, but he was as quick with his words as his draw) Alastor started feeling...fluttery.
And then they started, a delicate pink petal here, a soft budding flower there, it was... Not as bad as he was expecting.
He's heard stories of torn open throats & bellies bursting with the amount of flora they hold, in life he's even had to see a few acquaintances succumb to this disease.
(He's even picked a few particularly beautiful flowers from bodies he's torn open.)
At first he tried to avoid Angel, but the flowers increased in size and frequency, which was uncomfortable - borderline painful, but he could handle that, what he couldn't handle were the looks.
The ones where he avoided Angels attempts to spend time together, drink, or simply speak to him, but Alastor avoided it all, hoping it would deter the disease.
And it made all the pain far worse, he was a walking garden because he got a taste of unrequited love? Fucking pathetic.
So he decided to speak to Angel again, it wasn't easy Angel wanted to know WHY he avoided him, shunning every single advance.
Alastor of course, does NOT want to tell Angel about his predicament, but he does.
He expects Angel to laugh, or pity him, or some other demeaning thing, but he doesn't, of course he doesn't.
Angel just sits down and tells Al, he has it too.
Alastor sits, Angel never talks about life from above, different life he says.
Hanahaki is how he died, he had loved another man (a fact that makes Alastors stomach roll) but that was obviously unacceptable in his time, so he endured it and then started taking drugs for it when it got to painful.
It got so bad he eventually od'd trying to make the unimaginable pain quiet for a moment, he even said he thinks that he saw his own torso start to split and bloom daffodils as he slipped into darkness.
He asked if the blooms Angel coughed were still for that man.
Angel laughed, telling him her wore his jealousy like it was designer.
The call-out made Alastor feel... A bit flush if he were to be honest.
But he leaned in and told Alastor shyly, that he actually has them for Alastor and that he thinks Al has the same problem.
He pressed a tentative kiss to Alastors lips, Alastor solidified it by leaning in and gently grabbing Angels waist.
This. This is what he needed, and it was everything he expected, it was like a rich of fresh air filled his lungs for the first time in months.
Perhaps being sent to the hotel wasn't so bad, as long as he could spend it with Angel.
I've never written hanahaki b4, but this is just a light draft I wanted to pump out
I think I'm also gonna write a small part 2, post s2 so don't get too happy 👿
