Last year we completed a cafe space within Hangzhou Mansion, Wulin Square in downtown Hangzhou - the lounge style cafe features a dizzying black and white chevroned marble floor and deep green marble counters, lenticular glass screens, Tom Dixon mirror ball pendants, deep green leather banquette seats and some uber comfortable 'Dewey' chairs in king pin brass and coffee leather by the wonderful United Strangers. a t e l i e r i - n - d - j www.i-n-d-j.com

thanks for the story on our 'Plump Thonet' chair: Gooood HK ! a t e l i e r i - n - d - j www.i-n-d-j.com Plump Thonet is an outrageous interpretation of the 150 year old Viennese cafe classic ‘No.18 Chair’ by Gebrüder Thonet.The iconic No.18 backrest is retained and augmented with a rather plump seat made of soft dark leather, the seat is punctuated with 16 brass lined holes arranged in a grid, these helps define the location of the legs and are designed to receive the bend wood back rest.Delicate brass capped conical legs hit the floor providing support, whilst a wrap around brass arm rest helps unify the two disparate elements of seat and back. Thonets hugely popular Model no. 18 was first manufactured in 1876 – with some 50 million made between 1859 and 1930 – It has remained largely unchanged since first manufacture. 九 is a restaurant we designed as part of the Lane Crawford department store in Chengdu.
