With the release of the film I’d like to reaffirm to this post my problem with the film is armour, architecture, clothing and the boats. NOT THE CAST!!! I DO NOT SUPPORT THOSE RACIST PEOPLE THAT CLAIM HISTORICAL ACCURACY IM JUST A SUCKER FOR ARMOUR

Can someone make an Odyssey film and actually do research, hire Greek actors and/or Greek crew members and still cast Lupita Nyong’o as Helen? She’s so gorgeous and a truly incredible actor and she’s being held in the hell that is that shit film she deserves so much better
And all the racists defending their racism under the guise of “historical accuracy” also all fall down the stairs and all their flooring gets black mold and they have to spend thousands replacing it, amen.
We've already talked many times about how wrong this scene is for Odysseus, but let's also talk about… HOW EASY IS IT TO BREAK A STATUE WITH A BLADE?-
Athena and Hermes after regularly having the best team ups
As a fellow enjoyer of obscure myths have you ever heard of Erato the Dryad?
I looked her up and the only guy to mention her is Pausanias lol
Which prompted me to make this
the foolish "there were no Black people in ancient greece!" argument is coming back up on social media now that lupita nyong'o has been cast in nolans odyssey and this Black creator @kahil.greene made an excellent reel (with a longer breakdown to come soon on his substack) about African people in ancient greek art and stories

Oooh I love his content!! And I been said that was gonna happen 🤣 as soon as They™ knew it would be a Black woman, it didn't matter if this movie had been the best production on the planet, it would have been Worse because you Dare cast a Dark Skinned Black Woman as someone I'm supposed to find beautiful?!? And not the blonde hair blue eyed Aryan ideal that I'm comfortable with?!? How dare you?!?
And it's annoying because they're going to use her as the reason the movie sucks. And not, you know, EVERY OTHER DECISION made. Because naturally movies being bad these days is the fault of Woke. It's been so horrid because you can't even agree that the movie looks bad without ending in circles of bigots who are like "yeah!" And it's like no, fuck you and your life, we do Not Agree on why this movie looks bad. I think it looks poorly made and Matt Damon and Tom Holland aren't good options. YOU think it's poorly made because Black people are in it. We are Not Alike.
Zeus doodle from a few hours ago in college since I feel obligated to post something :P
Menelaus is a fundamentally haired character sorry
Don’t tell me. Is he bald?
*he is*
Bald and without hair
whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
To make us suffer 🥹😭
Look I can do historical inaccuracies, I’ll suck it up. I draw the line at bald Menelaus. And I bet they’ll make him evil too
And heaven and nature sing
why is it sooo hard to conclude essays. I said all that because fuck you thats why
the most unrealistic part of the iliad & odyssey is actually every single time they talk about a hecatomb of cattle like its nothing. 100 cows? in this collapsing late bronze age economy? Where Are You Getting These. Who’s Your Cow Dealer. Can I Have Their Address
Slowly returning to art, anatomy practice with one getting away from me, I’m sure you can guess which lol
Also I do take art requests just be patient for my response I have two huge back to back exams to revise for :P
“Zeus would be x!” “Zeus would be y!”
Zeus looking at the worlds current state:
What do you mean Menelaus is bald in Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey.
