Agility and change of direction are often used interchangeably but there are key distinctions between the two. Agility requires reaction to unpredictable environments while change of direction is more focused on physical and technical capacities. Because most field and court sports take place in chaotic environments, it’s important to integrate some level of reaction to an unpredictable stimuli. Athletic Lab's @mikeyoungphd recently provided 4 lectures, 2 Q&As and 2 practical sessions at the International Conference of Athletics Excellence. The 2 day event featured Mike Young lectures at the ICAE conference100 coaches and took place at Vancouver College in Vancouver, Canada. The international conference featured speakers from the US, Canada and Iceland. Mike’s presentations focused on speed and power development including a lecture on velocity based training.
