finally caught up on soil that binds us and couldnt get it out of my brain so here’s my favourite characters so far :)

#my ocs #this is nice but its also from a month ago so trust nothing i say #BUT #im really happy with the colours it feels very vibrant and intense #someone put in the tags that the expression felt very sultry and i got so embarrassed i had to pace around the house for a bit #yes i draw people in ways i think are attractive leave me alone #ive got a weird complex about expressing human emotions outside of smugness and knowing disdain. another thing to work on this year #character uses any pronouns btw <3 another case where i get excited when people tag my art as gender

#my ocs #another piece that did surprisingly well considers its an oc #the anatomy is uhhh fucked but we're going to brush over that #colours are solid. i like the lighting even if its a bit nonsensical which parts get illuminated by it #appreciate the effort to do a background even though its also a bit nonsensical spatially #no complaints with the rendering it looks decent #i feel like the more recent a piece is the more fresh all my internal criticism is gonna be in my brain #so i apologize for the negativity lol. but being an insatiable critic is a lifestyle and im committed to it

#darkest dungeon #wow would you look at that its my BEST friend #this doesn't count as a yearly review anymore cause its from literally several months ago but im still going to comment on it #i was getting back into the flow of painting after a bit of a break so im gonna be lenient on myself here #composition is bland but i appreciate the effort to do a little bit of framing #kudos to doing a full body. ive been really trying to improve on that #center of balance seems. off to me. could probably do with a reference picture but w/e i was having fun #colours are cute. shading is cute. i was really leaning into the blocky angular style at this point #because i was reffing from bourassa art and that shit is all blocks and angles #good job corey. good luck in your future jester-drawing endeavours

#others ocs #yearly review:#that tablet was um. mid. no pressure sensitivity and didn't track the pen very accurately #but as you can see we try our best #once i got my tablet fixed i was mainly trying to fix the clumsy shading and the weird facial proportions #although in hindsight i think i lost some of the charm of the piece by trying to polish too much #this is the last piece i did where it's got soft blended shading. i ended up switching to a more blocky style which i like better personally #im always struggling to know when a piece is Done because i often overwork an original sketch until it looks worse than before lol #anyways this piece was definitely a learning experience #clothing folds are fucked up. but i already knew that at the time #honestly still don't know how i'd fix that. billowy white shirts are the fucking bane of me

#others ocs #yearly review:#anatomy is a little off but the rendering is solid #honestly considering i hadn't painted anything in a month these turned out pretty good #i think for the cleo pic in particular i would heighten the contrast and maybe remove the highlights....#idk i never seem to like how highlights look in my art. sometimes i experiment with it but the results are mixed

well these pieces are oooold by now but the Fodlan Cuizine cookbook has finally finished sending out preorders and i can post them!

first piece is my page illustration, and then the other two are based on the cocktails from the cookbook, themed around the Crimson Flower and Azure Moon routes respectively. these were really fun to work on and I enjoyed getting the chance to do food illustrations >:) which im definitely not doing more of this summer >:)

#fe3h #oh god i drew so much in 2022. writing these tags is starting to take its toll. and yet we perservere #yearly review:#technically this is...two years old now?#oh my god yeah its from 2021 summer #its not great imo the colours are muddy and the composition is stiff. fabric rendering is nonsensical.#food looks both plastic-y and not recognizable as sisig.#BUT again patting myself on the back for doing a composition at all #and i think the drinks look cute even if the rendering is kind of amateurish #this is a good reminder that i have in fact improved. over two years. yay

#fe3h #yearly review:#sylvain aged absurdly well. everyone else i'd probably adjust #but i enjoy the rendering style i used here. have kind of been struggling to remember how to do it again #i think its kinda funny when people tag that the faces are so distinct because #to my eye i kind of point-chin syndrome-d everyone #but the state of fe3h's existing character design is already so dire #that i look very creative by comparison #genuinely though i do spend a lot of time trying to make my characters look distinct so its reassuring <3

i can finally post my illustration for @regaliazine! i made this close to a year ago now but i’m still fond of my eldritch catgirl maid. and now i have a poster of her! the zine itself is incredible and the character design/fashion design at work is super inspirational if you’re into gothic horror. some of the stuff in there genuinely gave me chills.

#yearly review:#i'm pretty proud of this piece! probably because its the most ive ever been paid for a piece #not that i knew how much the zine would sell at the time but it was very nice validation for the time i put into it #really cool artists in the zine told me they liked it and i was like woaggh..#and i also got a free postcard of my piece :) so :)#objectively though the perspective work is very nebulous and the colour grading isn't great #but its a nice reminder of what im capable of

#others ocs #eye strain #yearly review:#this one actually aged quite well! i used a cropped version of this recently for a portfolio #see i actually used angles properly in this piece. so half my nitpicks are already resolved #i think the silhouette in the background has some weird anatomy. chest needs to be widened #otherwise though good job corey #enjoy the use of red and the blurring effect in the background

#league of legends #arcane #vikjayce #yearly review:#hmmm...my feelings are mixed about this one #i think compositionally it was a little more innovative for me (i.e. there's an actual background)#and i think the lighting through the water and the reflections came out quite well #at the same time though the proportions are pretty off and the colours feel. dry. musty. i want to put a filter on it so bad #this piece did take me a shit ton of time to do though so im proud of myself for finishing it in the first place #and i generally enjoy making art for writers i like #(i have. like seven wips based on fanfic but i finished none of it. maybe one day.)
