JCINK SKINATHON LATE ENTRY, WEEK 2?

So I started working on one skin for skinathon and then inspiration for this one hit - based on a plot I carry on with a friend of mine.

Mobile is a bit of a mess (I’ll have to work on that....later) but as of right now, this is a fun passion project that I am adoring.

I hate making headers if you didn’t know. 

It’s coming along. I still have the popout that was in the last gif to work out and the stats but I’ll get there.

Nice sidestrip, where have I seen that before?

With a little help from my rose gold/gold rush/marble skin, I’ve kicked off the skinathon by deciding to absolutely hate myself. Expect this header area to be completely deconstructed and look 100% different by the end of today.

Name/Alias: atlas Timezone: PST Descriptors: ravenclaw, horned serpent, aquarius sun, gemini moon, cancer ascendent, experiences constant wanderlust, chaotic neutral at best How long you’ve been coding: coding for jcink is somewhere around 6-7 years? but i’ve been coding basic HTML since i was 9. i made those neopet pet pages y’all.  Coding style: i would love to have given myself a set style by now, but here i am. i like to try new things with every skin that i make, but experimental would be the wrong word. geometric maybe. i like my clean lines. Favourite design elements: i abuse the use of poppins to the point that it should be taken away from me. i’ve recently become really fond of gradients, too. i’m trying to get rid of my love for giant topbars. What you’re aiming to get out of the Skinathon: i’ve never been part of a coding community before. i don’t know jcink coders, i don’t really talk to other jcink coders, and so i think a sense of community will be a nice change of pace. and you know. a skin. and maybe finishing the skin i started documenting on this tumblr in the first place. Trying anything new for the Skinathon? i may try making baby’s first responsive skin, but seeing as that is something i might want to take more time on, and then also including a light/night mode switcher since that was an element i’ve been eying. anddddd a profile app. i’ve never had one but they also look fun. Shout out a code/skin/design/coder you love: i love all of you?? i hate to not be specific but everyone brings their own little thing to skins and every time i visit a site to advertise, i always admire the little things people bring to their skins. but i want to become a fan of other people participating soooo.         things i wish there was more of in the rpc: players working with admins if they want to see certain things in a group. have an event idea? send it to the main. fun plot drop pop into your head? share it with the admins. normalize working together rather than “you run the group, and i’ll resentfully go along with it until it’s no longer my taste”. normalize communicating between admin and members. normalize everyone throwing in big ideas and fun ways to spice things up !!

Finally done with the header. I don’t generally take a long time on the banner but my goal with this project is to keep doing things I’ve never done before. Here, this includes using css to create image overlays and creating a site without a chat box/sidebar.

Back to it. Finishing up this area with an announcements/event “bar” beneath the header then moving on to maintitle and forum structure.

This is my first post on here, but I’m also terrible at introductions and made this blog mostly to document my process and connect with the community. So might as well dive into it.

Started on the new project today. This is only my second time attempting a cboxless design and i’m excited to see how this shapes up. Still debating the shape of the ‘sidebar’ so to speak but...we’ll see how much I actually change once the “banner area” starts to take shape.
