They’re both really arrogant and cocky.
They both came from a foreign country (England and USA) and immediately and effortlessly earned their spots in their respective tennis clubs.
Same stubbornness and competitive drive.
Atobe is an overachiever but Ryoma is the same way when he wants to be (going out of his way to beat someone in tennis).
They both hate bullies (Atobe Keigo was bullied as a child in England and Ryoma usually defends anyone who is being bullied).
Both attractive and good-looking.
Both have their own fangirl clubs.
Both very fond of their pets (Beat and Karupin).
Both obsessed with their respective drinks. Ryoma with Ponta and Atobe with tea.

They both have important family members. Ryoma has a tennis legend (Nanjiroh) and given that Atobe’s family is notably rich I bet his father has a big reputation as well.
They both have the burden of being pillars of their teams. Tezuka always intended that for Ryoma (and Ryoma fought to gain the title) and Atobe is Hyotei’s captain and the pillar of the middle schoolers (in general).
They also have the burden of raising their own expectations regarding family members. Ryoma with Nanjiroh (surpass his father’s name) and Atobe is the heir to the Atobe Conglomerate.

I always thought these two would’ve been amazing childhood friends tbh and I’ve always had this headcanon where Nanjiroh is friends with Atobe’s father, I don’t know why lmao I want Konomi to develop their friendship a little bit more.
