Between the Lights of Christmas and the Flames of War :
While streets around the world sparkle with lights celebrating Christmas and the New Year, darkness engulfs Gaza. Here, the sounds of church bells and festive songs elsewhere are drowned out by the echoes of bombings and cries of despair.
Every year, the New Year symbolizes hope and renewal for many, but for us in Gaza, it is a painful reminder of our harsh reality. While people gather around bountiful tables, we gather around the remnants of our homes destroyed by war. While fireworks illuminate the skies in celebration, the skies above Gaza glow with the fire of destruction !!!!
What hurts even more is the stark contrast: how can the world celebrate the start of a promising new year while we are stripped of our basic right to live? Christmas in Gaza is not a celebration; it is a time to remember all we’ve lost and all that’s been taken from us.
Yet, amidst the darkness, we hold on to hope. We believe our voice can pierce through the international silence. We hope the world sees this contrast and remembers that peace and joy lose their meaning as long as there’s a people being silently killed !!!!!
