fic under the cut..
Aubrianne paced herself on the Gryffindor rooftop with her dragon, Luna laying down on the roof with her tail swinging in front of the windows below them. “Luna, will you stop that!” She demanded. “I can’t have the Headmasters know about your short visit.” Aubrianne arched an eyebrow as Luna sat up carefully moving her tail towards her. “…especially when you can’t be in Scotland and the fact that—”
“—I talk…” Luna the Bakunawa Dragon sighed as she placed her claws on the roof. “Listen, Aubrey… I am much as a part of magic as you are.” The dragon moved her claws towards Aubrianne. “Hop on!” The dragon told her. “Or I’m taking that arctic wolf that your mother favors on a short flight with me.”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m quite sure that things are supposively up to me.” The dragon huffed as Aubrianne pulled out her wand from her boot. She walked towards Luna’s claws and wordlessly casts the levitation charm to levitate herself onto the dragon’s back. “Will we be back by midnight?” She asked the dragon as she made it halfway towards the dragon’s back.
“Yes,” The dragon responded. “I won’t keep you with me too long, Aubrey.”
“Aubrey!” Sappho yelled from below. “Aubrey! Headmaster Kaiser is looking for you. It’s urgent! He wants to speak to the both of us.”
Aubrianne sighed before bringing herself back onto the ground. “Can’t you tell him that Aubrey’s sick or something?” She said to her fellow Ilvermorny student. “I’m busy here with—”
“—with a dragon.” A familiar voice interrupted.
Aubrianne turned around then placed her wand back into her boot. She turned her head to face Sappho. “I’m sorry,” Sappho whispered. “I tried to keep him occupied until your situation was dealt with.”
“You girls do know that I shift from wolf to human almost every hour of everyday. I know when something is up.” The headmaster told them. “And this doesn’t look like a situation, girls. It looks like something for the history books. What do you girls say?”
Aubrianne and Sappho looked at each other. They weren’t expecting for Headmaster Kaiser to give them a lecture on how to have fun. They both thought that he expects them to win the Triwizard Tournament for him and that alone.
“Well, girls…”
“But it’s Halloween, Headmaster.” Aubrianne responded. “And isn’t it always big in Hogwarts…? We wouldn’t want to miss the party.”
The headmaster slowly nodded his head. “I know but…it’s a dragon that we’re talking at here. Can’t we just have one short break from the things going on in Hogwarts for a change?” He said, a little excited to get on a dragon.
“Sappho. Headmaster…” Aubrianne started as she reached into her boot for her wand. “This is Luna. She’s a Bakunawa Dragon. My Bakunawa Dragon.” The jet black haired girl waved her wand to sit the three of them on top of the dragon’s back.
“Is this against school rules, Headmaster?” Sappho Mutter asked him.
Headmaster Kaiser lifted his shoulders into a shrug. “We are not in Ilvermorny, Sappho.” The headmaster retorted. “And besides, it’s a dragon!”
Sappho rolled her eyes, kind of regretting asking the headmaster a question. Somehow she knew how much Aubrianne wanted to keep Headmaster Kaiser occupied as much as possible. “I get that it’s a dragon, Headmaster. I really do…but—”
“—is it against school rules?” The Bakunawa Dragon interrupted Sappho’s question. “I believe that your headmaster has things in his bucketlist that he wants to complete.” Luna stood up and flapped her wings. The dragon gradually rose towards the sky as her passengers grabbed onto her. “But you girls are just too stubborn to ask him the proper questions. Am I correct, Elijah?”
“She talks and knows my name.” The headmaster said, almost squealing. “How did you do that?”
As Luna flew the trio across Scotland, Aubrianne turned her head slightly then leaned towards a little to her left. “Well, Bakunawa Dragons are dragon deities. They usually feed on the moon causing an eclipse…of sort.” She told the headmaster. “So…talking comes naturally for them.” Aubrianne leaned slightly towards the dragon. “And about the dragon knowing your name, Headmaster. You can blame my mother for that.”
Sappho shook her head mid-chuckle as the headmaster let out a soft chuckle. “Eiriana Cruz. Always aiming to please the authority.” He remembered. “How’s your mother been? I’ve missed seeing her around Ilvermorny.”
Hurtful. Aubrianne lightly patted the dragon’s neck, making the dragon slightly turn its head to face them. Then, she gestured to Luna to land on a mountain top. “She’s doing great, Headmaster. She misses the place too.” She said, grabbing onto Luna as the dragon made a slight turn towards the mountain top. “Ilvermorny was home to her. I just don’t know why that is.”
“That’s really wonderful that she still remembers her time in Ilvermorny.” The headmaster replied, grabbing onto the dragon. Sappho, who was behind the headmaster, grabbed onto the headmaster’s waist to avoid falling off. “Her graduating class was Ilvermorny’s peak. The Golden Age of Ilvermorny, rather.” Elijah Kaiser told the girls. “Your mother was in that class to, Sappho. It was them. Bella Lune, Thomas Parker, Sybilla Hopper, and Adam Crawley.”
Aubrianne kept her head down and gestured to the dragon to land on the mountain top right away. She couldn’t find the courage to speak up on how many people has had reminded her that she’s nothing but a disappointment. “I’m sure that there be another Golden Age for Ilvermorny soon enough. If not Sappho and I’s class, the future generation will find something grand to be remembered for, Headmaster.” She guardedly told Headmaster Kaiser.
“Indeed.” He replied, nodding his head. “If not a Golden Age, a Renaissance of Magic for Ilvermorny. But it’s all been written in the History books of Ilvermorny. A prophecy, rather.”
“What kind of prophecy, Headmaster?” Sappho asked.
“I’ll let you girls know when I know for sure.” He managed to get out before the dragon loudly flapped its wings as she found a place to land on the mountain top.
“Easy now, Luna.” A familiar female voice called out. Aubrianne waved her wand to poof them off the Bakunawa Dragon. The female took a step back and slightly bowed her head upon the Ilvermorny trio’s arrival on the mountain top. “Long time no see, Headmaster.” The female spoke. “It’s been years since the last time that we’ve seen each other.”
Sappho placed her hand on top of her forehead. “My mother was part of the Golden Age of Ilvermorny and she never told me. That’s low, even for her!”
“Well, the class of Ilvermorny’s Golden Age never gotten anything back from your mother, dearest.” The woman told the ill-tempered teenager. “But I doubt that’s going to change anything with this tournament, especially if there’s only two Ilvermorny champions left in the games. The pair of you must keep your guard up when there’s someone out there trying to sabotage the games.”
The headmaster nodded his head, agreeing with what the woman was saying to the girls. “I agree with her.” He said, gesturing a finger towards the woman in front of them.
“But how do you know the name of the dragon?” Aubrianne asked the woman.
“You can blame Eiriana for that.” The woman responded as she let out a small but audible chuckle. “She was the one who told me to send Luna to Hogwarts.”
“But the question that lies in the air is…who the hell are you?” Sappho promptly asked the woman. “And why are you in a fucking mountain top?”
“Well, I’m Sybilla Parker…or should I say…Sybilla Hopper. And as for the mountain top, this is the only place that I could speak to you two without the other school’s knowing anything about this.” The woman responded with in a kind tone in her voice. She slightly turned her head to face Headmaster Kaiser. “Headmaster. How have you been?”
“Parker? You married Thomas?” He asked the blonde woman. “That’s quite unexpected, Sybilla.” The headmaster shook his head, softly chuckling. “And as for the general question, my dear, I am very well.”
Aubrianne leaned closer towards the blonde woman. “And he’s nearing a thousand and one years old.” The jet black haired girl told the blonde. “For an arctic wolf…” She curled her lips into a soft smile.
Sybilla sighed, arching one of her light brown eyebrows. “The running joke for Headmaster Kaiser in my days were things to do with King Arthur and the round table.” The woman recalled. “One of my favorites were always the ones that had something to do with Sir Lancelot.”
“Alright.” Sappho rolled her eyes. “We get it! Headmaster was the go to professor of your days but this is a new era, blondie. It’s every witch and wizard for themselves.”
The blonde sighed and placed a hand on her forehead. “We could stand here all day and argue about sorcery and magic, but if we do, your ride back to Hogwarts won’t get you back there in one piece.” Sybilla said to the girls. “As I recall from what Eiriana’s Bakunawa Dragon feeds from the fullest moonlight, that’s in three minutes.” She made her way towards the edge of the mountain and pointed towards the moon. “You must go towards the moon to do so.”
Sappho Mutter and Headmaster Kaiser’s heads quickly turned towards Aubrianne. “And I guess, that’s my job!” The jet black haired girl exclaimed, rolling her eyes. “Since Luna is my Bakunawa Dragon…” Great. Aubrianne took her wand from inside her boot and waved it to sit herself on top of the dragon’s neck. “C’mon Luna. It’s showtime!” Luna the Bakunawa Dragon flapped her wings and lifted herself and Aubrianne off the mountain top.
“Try not to hurt yourself, Aubrey!” Headmaster Kaiser called out, keeping his eyes glued on the dragon.
“That I can’t promise.” Aubrianne said to herself instead of saying it directly to the Headmaster as she tapped the dragon’s side and commanding her to fly faster towards the moon. At rapid speed, the Bakunawa Dragon stretched herself out and flipped around, causing the jet black haired sorceress to fall off her back.
“Shit!” The Headmaster exclaimed as the dragon sped towards the moon. He quickly pulled out his wand and pointed it directly towards the falling student. Headmaster Kaiser wordlessly casts a spell to freeze time and another spell to stop one of his champions from falling to her death.
Luna opened her mouth and swallowed the moon in one go, causing an eclipse and their surroundings to gradually darken. The dragon swiftly flew towards the young sorceress, instantly catching her. The Bakunawa Dragon made her way towards the mountain top. Sappho and Sybilla moved back as the dragon started to prepare for a soft landing, grabbing the Headmaster and pulled him out of the way by force. “Headmaster. Girls.” The dragon said as she landed on the mountain top. “We’ve returned…”
“Did it work?” Headmaster Kaiser whispered as the dragon lifted it’s left wing. He quickly rushed towards the young sorceress, turning himself into an arctic wolf in the process. Sappho rolled her eyes — the headmaster’s overprotectiveness will be death of her and any Ilvermorny student for that matter. The afro-haired metamorphmagus and the blonde unregistered animagus followed closely behind him.
Always does. Always will. The jet black haired sorceress fluttered her eyes open. “Are you doubting the ancient art of magic, Headmaster?” She softly spoke as the arctic wolf jumped on her lap.
Sappho scratched her head and leaned slightly towards the blonde haired woman. “You know when I try to do something dangerous.” She started. “It’s…never do that again, Saph or you can’t keep on putting your classmates in danger, Saph. Whenever it’s her, it’s…just don’t let me see you doing something dangerous, Aubrey or that ghost scared the crap out of me, Aubrey.” The afro-haired metamorphmagus sighed as she rolled her eyes. “I swear that she’s the favorite and—”
“—might get the title of one of Ilvermorny’s most notable alums.” The blonde unregistered animagus continued from what the young afro-haired metamorphmagus had started to say. “Trust me when I say that he cares for each and everyone of his students, but he just shows it…a different way.”
Sappho lifted her shoulders into a shrug.
Aubrianne carried the arctic wolf in her arms as she stood up. The young metamorphmagus rolled her eyes. “What?” The sorceress promptly said. “Kaiser wanted to do the Lion King thing, while still in arctic wolf form.”
Sybilla softly chuckled. “I’m quite entertained by this,” the blonde immediately responded, “but be aware of the time. There’s still that Halloween thing that Hogwarts always go overboard with. It’s completely unavoidable, dears.” The Ilvermorny alum curled her lips into a soft smile before her eyes darted towards the headmaster and the young sorceress making their way over. The blonde headed towards the trees as she looked behind her. “Nous ne pouvons pas toujours, être là pour les gens, les dames. Protégez-les toujours et ils feronts de même pour vous.” She told them before slowly bowing her head towards the headmaster. “You too, Headmaster.” The blonde unregistered animagus disappeared into the forest after she shifted into an Iberian wolf.
“Well, I guess that’s our queue to leave the mountain top.” Sappho gestured a hand towards the Bakunawa Dragon behind them. The afro-haired metamorphmagus was composed trying to turn a corner towards her blindside. “We might miss the festive fun, Headmaster.”
“Dressed in your school clothes…” Headmaster Kaiser said as he took his wand out of his jacket pocket. With a swift flick of the wrist, the headmaster turned the girls’ school into halloween costumes. The afro-haired metamorphmagus’ school uniform was turned into an exact recreation of Esmeralda’s dress as Victor Hugo had described it in his Hunchback of Notre Dame novel, and the jet black haired sorceress’ school uniform was turned into a black vampiress dress complete with grey contacts that’s been placed carefully in her dark brown eyes. “Now, let’s go, girls before Mercier finds out that we’re gone.”
Pulling her wand from the corset around her waist, Aubrianne faintly waved her wand but before she could place the three of them on top of the dragon’s back. She pointed her wand towards Headmaster Kaiser and turned his clothing into something right out of an Ian Fleming novel — Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to be exact. “You too, Headmaster.” The Filipina said. “As Sybilla said, you can’t get away from Hogwarts’ festive fun.”
“…Caractacus Pott from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” The headmaster said in awe as he admired the costume. “I see that detention with me turned out to be of a lesson learned for you, Aubrianne.”
The young witch lifted her shoulder into a shrug. “Well…what can I say headmaster…but a great witch, wizard, sorcerer, and enchanter has a great teacher to teach them all of the right things, but leave the things that he cannot teach ‘em...has to be taught through trials and tribulations of the student.” The jet black haired Ilvermorny student crossed her arms across her chest, turning her head as she titled it towards her right. Aubrianne slowly curled her lips into a sharp but soft smile and flashed a quick wink. “I saw a maroon colored journal on your desk, Headmaster. It’s quite fascinating what someone can find from being a part of a gang of sorcerers, trying to find a way to flood a basement.” Before anyone could say something, Aubrianne faintly waved her wand to seat the three of them on top of the Bakunawa Dragon’s back. “Back to Hogwarts, Luna!”
A/N: to read the rest of fic and to find out what happens in Hogwarts during Halloween, you are going to have to think back on what was bolded in Clockworks. To make the hunt easier for you, this word that you need to look for activates one of five of our senses. Hint: the word is located in the story’s numeral motif. Once you’ve figured it out, put it at the end of my url like so: http://aubriannepelipa.tumblr.com/wordhere. Happy hunting and have a fun but safe Hallow’s Eve, my friends.
