Light streaming through the hold atop St Peter's Basilica, in the Vatican. There's something completely otherwordly about the light in the mediterranean – it's different somehow. It behaves like a fluid, like oil drifting through water.

Latest t-shirt design for the Aucklandia Store is inspired by those moments where, despite your best instincts and prior knowledge, you scroll down the page and read the comments on a Stuff.co.nz article.

Read about how I designed this t-shirt
After launching the Aucklandia Store last month, I've had a lot of people ask how I design my t-shirts. Usually the conversation starts with them questioning my drawing abilities: "I've seen your handwriting and sketches ... you're a liar, Mr Ahmed!" (my friends are brutally honest).
I've been using Paper by FiftyThree to start the drafting process, following it up in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to make print-ready art. I've sung Paper's praises a million times before, and will sing its praises a million times more now that I use it so intimately in my design process.

Marionettes – North Wharf, Auckland
One of the recurring characters in the play that is Auckland City, this marionettaire can be found along the waterfront and on Queen Street, performing his routine for kids and kids at heart.Â
Romeo – Queen Street, Auckland.
A Romeo waits for his Juliette... or Julian, either way is cool.
