Can’t stop, won’t stop
LiSA - Rising Hope
I’ve gotten lost in the void that is the internet, and I don’t hate it. Super into Japanese techno-pop these days. In the words of Gene Belcher, “THIS IS ME NOW!”
I’ve had this song in my head all day, it’s SOO good
Tennis - Bad Girls
Back from the dead, etc etc
Melody Prochet is a goddess, that is all
Julia Holter "Moto Perpetuo"
I read on Holter's Last FM bio that she worked as an intern at a renowned record label and ended up recording her own music on the label just a short time later. Brilliant, just brilliant.
The Bilinda Butchers -"boyfriend"
Welcome Back Sailors - "I'll Be There"
Boy, oh boy, this song brings back some memories. This was (and still is) one of my favorite bands when I was in middle/high school (I think I just gave away my age!). Eh, 23 is still young enough, right?
Eve 6 - "Here's to the Night"
Sonny and Cher in Soho Square, London to promote ‘The Beat Goes On’, late 1966 or early 1967. Photo by Jan Olofsson.
I've had this song in my head all day
Herman's Hermits "I'm Into Something Good"
Beach House "Lazuli"
(Girly aside: I'm drooling over that striped dress)
Francisco the Man "Franklin Ave"
Bear in Heaven "Lovesick Teenagers"
I'm impressed, but what's with the "bear" trend in band names? It's quite bizarre.
My Good People!
I realize I fell off the face of the Tumblrsphere for like 3 months, but I have FINALLY graduated college and have a lot more free time on my hands (aside from job hunting), so expect a ton of posts in the near future.
So much music, so little time.
“The Only Place” - Best Coast
You caught me, I’ve never ventured off my place of safety along the East Coast. I’m a fan of the mountains, lack of mudslides, and general sense of southern togetherness. That aside, Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino’s jocund pipes make the newest jam from the California-loving duo a convincing argument. There’s an unwavering certainty that rings in Cosentino’s voice as she pleads with her audience to abandon their home in favor for the Californian sun, “Leave your cold behind/ we’re going to make it to the beach on time.” You can be sold your own ticket to West Coast sunshine by paying a quick visit to the band’s website (listed conveniently above) and submitting an e-mail address. The song serves as a title track for the duo’s new album, which you can expect heading your way on May 15th via Mexican Summer (link).

Golden Curls - Moon Maiden
While you’re salivating in anticipation of that new Beach House record, allow me to suggest having a listen to this new Saint Louis duo’s stuff. Sarah Downen and Noah Blackwell write what they call “woozy pop” - this, an all together breathy, earthy suite. They’re not shy about their love for their Baltimore predecessors, but manage to spring fresh.
