You're not a bad person for liking Harry Potter. You don't need to agree with JK Rowling to enjoy what she wrote.

Problem starts when you agree with her bigoted views. Then you're an asshole.

So yeah, accept that one of the biggest works of fantasy was written by a transphobe, and that it doesn't mean people who like it immediately fall in the same category.

Maybe for a while, it was the only word we had to wish for what we needed. Those wishes and dreams were ours. That place, that Hogwarts, is ours. J.K. Rowling didn’t make it; we did. And we can still share it. We can still have it. It isn’t gone. There’s shouting and there’s anger and there’s violence and there’s the articulate bigotry of the people we used to love and yet truly, despite all of it – in the real world, between each other, that place we made still exists. That place where we belong.

If you’re reading this and you’re hurting, then you are that place for me. And I am that place for you. In this place, you don’t have to explain or justify or prove or convince. I trust you. When you talk about yourself, when you say who you are and what you need, I believe you.

I’m so upset I’m struggling to find words right now. 

For years now, because of all the shit JK Rowling has done/said, I have been incapable of enjoying Harry Potter things, despite how much I’ve loved them as a kid. I have not been able to separate the art from the artist, no matter how much I’ve wanted to. As a member of the LGBT community, she’s upset me too much in the recent years.

My best friend, who’s also been upset by the things she’s done, has been able to still enjoy Harry Potter for what it is. For what it was, to him, throughout his life. We’ve had several conversations where he’s told me “I’m so sorry you can’t still enjoy that world”, and where I’ve told him “I’m happy that you can.”

He is trans.

It’s 2 am and I’m crying in my bed right now, with my best friend sleeping in the room next to me, most likely unaware of what just happened, and it honestly fucking breaks my heart that JK Rowling just openly dismissed who and what he is. It breaks my fucking heart to think about him waking up tomorrow morning and catching up with the internet and reading her disgusting tweet on his own.

Yes. We already knew she was bad. We already knew she was full of shit. None of this is really a surprise. I know that. But tonight, just all over again, I’m overwhelmed with the same feeling of betrayal.

The fact that we, the world, gave this much love… this much success… to someone like her… It makes me sick.

Me, an INFP:

i have this fictional place in my mind. it’s this lake with pretty autumn trees all around it. i go there at night when i try to sleep. i can just dive into the lake and see all my life experiences. the lake gets deeper as you get older and have more experiences(wait or is the lake deep from birth and you’re just exploring idk) the water is 100% pure, the best tasting water you can find. and the trees change color. the sky also does too, and i can control that. i like it either gray or a sunset. btw in the water, you can breathe and it doesn’t wet your clothes. wait the water isn’t really water. as i said earlier it is 100% pure, but does have some salt. (it’s my tears XD) new idea: the tears turn into diamonds. i have tried to find the diamonds when i was exploring the lake, but i have always failed. anyways it’s a really beautiful place only i can find and access.
