“Pretty much yeah. My son Kyle said it was the coolest thing to do when he was younger. It was how they texted people in school while the teacher didn’t look.” He informed her. “Maybe, but you could do it with one hand.”
“I have texted on my phone with one hand before. It’s just slower and harder to do without looking. I guess there are pros and cons to using each kind of phone. I never thought about it that way.”

“Fair point it is a pretty good accomplishment” He shakes his head faintly. “Some people think fish are like inanimate objects, like art to be displayed. Granted they cant usually display any form of love back and the span of their memory is pretty short. Thankfully there are others who hold funerals for their fish so the world balances itself out in that way”
“I’d like to see them happy with their inanimate fish object when they’re all floating belly up at the top of the fish tank. People can be so weird about things though so I guess I sort of get it.”

Audrey: I can only imagine. It must suck, even if the kids can be cute. I could never do that job.

Jesse: If any of these damn dance moms text me one more time on the number that I provided for emergencies to tell me "make sure Jessica doesn't forget her tights at dance this time" or "I just realized I forgot to put Mackenzie's eczema cream on this morning, can you do it?" I'm gonna lose my mind.
Audrey: Ew that does sound awful. This is why I'm glad i don't work with kids.

“It is easy! I just have to press the numbers. It is fun even because I can do it without looking at the phone. Bet you can’t do that!” Look at that, proud of something so silly.
“I can text without looking at my phone but I couldn’t do it on a flip phone. Don’t you have to push the buttons a bunch of times to get to the letter you want? That sounds so time consuming.”

He cant help but laugh. “I think having fish is more about being responsible for another life and in some case its about collecting. Like when you go into doctor’s offices and they’ve got all types of different fish”
“See but I think being able to keep myself alive is enough of an achievement,” Audrey told him. “And isn’t it weird to collect something that’s alive? Don’t people usually collect inanimate objects?”

“Ah gotcha..I’d say a fish is another option but they don’t really do cuddling and need to be fed everyday”
“Aren’t fish really boring too? I mean...what do they do? They just swim around day in and day out. This isn’t Finding Nemo and they don’t hold ceremonies on top of bubble volcanos.”

“Tell me about. I get shit all the time for having a flip flop and not wanting a smartphone or using a computer much.”
“Okay I get that, but how can you tolerate texting on a flip phone? That is the definition of hell on earth.”

“Understandable…” Cece replied with a nod. “I mean… it’s better to admit adoption wouldn’t work, then to adopt and end up not being able to take care of them, right?” She shrugged a little, looking down at Frenchie for a second there, while scratching the puppy. “Oh! I’m Cecilia, by the way… and you know… if you and your girlfriend would ever want to adopt, there’s this shelter in St. Juan that has the cutest puppies ever.”
“That’s my thought on it,” Audrey agreed with a smile. She looked back up from the dog when the woman introduced herself. “Nice to meet you, Cecilia. I’m Audrey and I will definitely keep that in mind. Even if it’s only to go look at the cutest puppies ever.”

“Aww it depends on the pet. Dogs may not be the best option just because they need lots of love. but cats tend to sleep all day anyway. They’ll love on you whenever you are around and find their own time when you aren’t”
“I fostered one who didn’t even care about me unless I was bringing him food or he wanted his back scratched”
“I’m not home that much and when I’m off I’m usually with my girlfriend over at her place. Any cat I got would spend way too much time on it’s own. That’s a lonely life for any poor little cat.”

“I’m glad so. You should think to my son and tell him that. He doesn’t understand some people are just not good with technology.”
She laughed. “Sometimes people struggle with realizing not everything comes easy to everyone else.”

“Oh, yeah! They have gadgets for all kinds of things these days.” Cecilia beamed, smiling as she watched the woman scratch behind Frenchie’s ears, who turned her head to lick the woman’s hand. “She’s super friendly, but I think it’s because she’s as needy as I am.” She couldn’t help but to make a face at her own words, scrunching her nose a little. “Or maybe a cat would be nice, too. They’re more independent than dogs. Maybe that’s easier for you.”
“I’ve thought about a cat too but between spending time at work and at my girlfriend’s house there isn’t a lot of time for me to hang out and take care of a cat,” Audrey explained with a shrug.

“Honestly it is. though there are some days that are rougher than others. But if you want to stop by and pet the animals for a mood booster you’re welcome at the clinic anytime”
Audrey beamed. “I’d love to. I’ve always thought it would be fun to have a pet but I’m pretty sure it would get lonely.”
ceciliakings:
“While I do understand, considering the fact that I spend most of my day out of the apartment, I understand.” She smiled at the woman as she bobbed her head. “Which is why I’m super thankful for technology because I bought those feeders and water things that feeds pets at a certain time and let them drink as much water as they want, so that helps me a lot. They’re definitely a lot to handle, but they make up for it when you come home and they’re super happy to see you.”
“Oh that’s super neat,” Audrey replied. “I still think I’d struggle but it’s nice to know there are options there if I ever decide to give the whole having a pet thing a try.” She scratched behind Frenchie’s ears and smiled. “She’s such a cutie.”

“It is. I love it. Honestly I have a lot more fun caring for animals than I did humans. Which is probably a bit sad but its more fulfilling. Plus I get to foster some of the animals in our shelter which is always nice.”
“I don’t think that’s sad. And having animals around has got to be a mood booster. Or at least I’d think it would be.”

“I actually don’t know what is.” He chuckled as he opened the magazine. Using a flip phone was both a blessing and a curse “I have seen it on T.V I think. It is a video game right?” He asked.
“Probably,” Audrey replied with a shrug. “I’m not sure though. I’m not super up on these kinds of things.”

“Frenchie… because I’m super creative.” Cecilia replied with a sweet smile playing on her lips. Upon seeing the brunette wasn’t bothered by Frenchie’s presence, Cece set her down again so that the puppy could sniff the woman’s feet again. “I’m just super worried because some people don’t like animals and i wouldn’t want her to get hurt, you know?” She chuckled nervously, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “She’s really friendly, so if you’d like to pet her, you can. Chances are, she’ll lay down for you to rub her stomach though, so beware… do you have pets?”
Audrey lowered her hand so the dog could sniff her while she looked up at her. “Honestly that’s the cutest name,” Audrey told her. Carefully she pet the top of the dog’s head before shaking her own. “Nope, I don’t have pets. I don’t have the time to commit to a whole living animal, you know? It seems like it’s a lot of work to have them depending on me.”
