When part of you is happy for summer break, but the other half is sad to leave campus.
It has begun! Construction of Augsburg’s new Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion in under way. The building is scheduled to be ready for classes in January of 2018.
“Essential to the college in living out its mission of educating students to be 'informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders' is that our foundation be one of diversity, inclusion, equity, and intercultural competency.“ http://inside.augsburg.edu/diversity/
Augsburg’s 2016 graduating class is it’s most diverse ever with 42% of graduates being students of color.
“We know that in order to secure a vital and vibrant future for our cities, state, and region, we must be united in our drive for equity. Our location in the city – in one of the most diverse ZIP codes in the nation – allows Auggies the unique advantage of leveraging the richness and abundance that these many forms of diversity offer.” - Augsburg College President Paul C. Pribbenow
Congratulations to the 2016 Augsburg College StepUp graduates posing here with program staff and commencement speaker Michael Botticelli, Director of National Drug Control Policy.
Beez Kneez and Auggies, oh my! A friendly bee from the Beez Kneez Delivery stopped by Augsburg to install bee hives on the roof of Memorial Hall. In addition to helping pollinate the plants and trees around campus, the hives are a way for Augsburg to bolster the declining bee population. Don’t bee worried about getting stung; honey bees aren’t aggressive. Just let them bee, and they’ll buzz off.
Congrats to all of our 2015-2016 graduates. Like this grad from 1990, you done real good! See you at commencement on Saturday.

Augsburg music therapy student McKenna Selissen ‘18, one of the Augsburg Choir members who recently performed with Barry Manilow, gave one of the complimentary tickets she received to a client who uses Manilow’s music in his therapy sessions. Such a beautiful and kind gesture!

Throwback to Thursday, February 11, 1960 when a fire in Old Main damaged the office of Dr. Mario Colacci. Yikes!

William D. Green, professor of history at Augsburg College, was awarded the prestigious Hognander Minnesota History Award for his book “Degrees of Freedom: The Origins of Civil Rights in Minnesota, 1865-1912″ at the 2016 Minnesota Book Awards. Green traces the post-Civil War struggles for equality in a “progressive” state through the stories of Minnesota’s civil rights pioneers and ordinary citizens. In it, “we see how, in a state where racial prejudice and oppression wore a liberal mask, black settlers and entrepreneurs, politicians, and activists maneuvered within a restricted political arena to bring about real and lasting change.” http://thefriends.org/events/mnba/winners-and-finalists/hognander-minnesota-history-award-winners/2016-hognander-award-william-d-green/
