LIFE TRAP TEST
Your life trap is: Unrelenting Standards
Your primary feeling is one of pressure. You feel as if you can never relax and enjoy life. That you must always push to get ahead. For you, life is only doing. It is having to work or achieve all the time. You feel frustrated and irritated with yourself for not meeting your own high standards. Physical stress is common with you. You may have headaches, digestion or bowel problems, as well as high blood pressure and/or insomnia. At root, you probably feel chronically angry, but with no apparent object to direct that anger towards. Instead of staying with that anger, you channel it outwards to your surroundings. Everything has to be perfect. You need to feel in control. Most likely you are successful. But you rarely stop and enjoy your success. The balance between work and pleasure feels lopsided. You turn many forms of activity into work and it enslaves you. You seem to have lost touch with your basic self. You go through the motions, but no longer know what makes you happy. One of your parents may have used shame or criticism when you failed to meet their high expectations. As an adult, you feel you cannot let go of your need for perfect order, achievement, or status. But your excessively high standards are in fact impinging on your quality of life. You are successful, but not fulfilled. You need to learn that you can lower your standards without feeling like a failure.

An off day was a rarity for the eldest Kamisato child, his work as the Yashiro Commissioner felt seemingly never ending--- issues and problems piling up upon one another as he navigated political landscapes. Even once home Ayato was not quite free yet: his attention as clan head pulled to and fro as he accessed the wants of the clan itself, then the families that served it, and, finally, those employed by it. As such, recently time to spare for Ayaka had grown equally rare; a notion that bothered the swordsman as he read over the note that had been left upon his desk by said sister.
" Dear Brother, I learned a new recipe while attending festivities with the Traveler. Considering that they are from another land, do you think... that I might need to make some changes to said recipe? "
Fingers holding pen tweaked, tapping the end against the wood of the table he sat before as he mulled over his sibling’s note. It was rather pitiful, wasn't it? For the majority of their correspondence as of late to be solely through written word, never quite managing to be in the same room at the same time. Her note however intrigued him ( as all things related to experimental foods did, much to a certain housekeeper's chagrin ). It was only a moment more before mind was made up: as he had gotten through a decent chunk of clan related work, what harm could there be in stopping early just. this. once. so that could seek the young woman out and see just what this recipe she had learned was? And, of course, to provide his eclectic opinion on what might be a proper substitution.
It only would be some minutes later before the head of the Kamisato clan left messy table to instead near meander through the estate as he sought out his sibling with the intention to intrude upon whatever her current activities may be. The favored son soon finding her practicing traditional arts ( alongside her tutor ) with a dedication he had always found admirable.
" Mind if I give it a try? " A teasing call to attention as body moved through the threshold, Ayato's nature in that moment more akin to the puckish older brother he truly was beneath the taciturn guise he had adopted as clan leader.

"Standing here, seeing so many happy faces… it almost seems like a dream."
A faint smile curled upon the commissioner's lips with his sister's remark, the two of them overlooking the crowd that had gathered for the culmination of the Irodori Festival. The young woman was quite right, there was something altogether lofty about the scene unfolding before them: an Inazuma free of the Raiden Shogun's Sakoku Decree and the resulting Vision Hunt, were citizens and foreigners alike could once again intermingle. This festival was the first step in repairing Inazuma's reputation in Teyvat, and, if things went well ( which they had so far ), the first step in boosting the country's economy and thus the overall wellness of its people.
❝ I was doubtful when Lady Guuji approached me with her ideas for reestablishing the Irodori Festival. ❞ He admitted quietly, tone of voice verging near on fascination as eyes watched the flow of the crowd. ❝ To transform a tradition that many have forgotten about into a novel convention is certainly something only she could have thought of. ❞
To say he was at first doubtful was an understatement, for a short time at least. After all, the Guuji's ideas were always wonderful in some way or another. He had reflected on the opportunities that such a festival would provide in between his day to day work, deciding that the benefit it would bring to Inazuma and her people alone was well worth the effort. Even if the festival's original purpose was slightly overshadowed by the light novels produced by Yae's own publishing house.
❝ But now, I believe I’m quite happy to see that all my dealings with her to prepare this did not go to waste. ❞ Plus it had afforded him a rather apt opportunity in regards to the final son of the Kaedehara clan, hadn't it?
might as well post this here too. cross posted from twitter

Ayato's stroll into the kitchen was an ominous surprise to those passed by him on the trip, no doubt. Especially so, given the prior notes he had received about his proclivity to attempt to assemble a meal all his own when hungry. So, as such, here he was: stubbornly at the source itself even if he cannot create his own concoction.
" If you cannot think of what to make for dinner, might I suggest a hot pot game? " Mischievous glint hidden behind composed expression, attention focused on the back of his dedicated housekeeper as they seemingly ruminated on just what dishes might sate the oh so hungry clan head and his sister tonight.

The estate had been abuzz as of late and Ayato himself was not immune to it. Work piled up upon more work, the golden son of the Kamisato clan near exhausting himself in his attempts to stay on top of it. Every moment of every day was one where he was used to striving for perfection, keen to prove himself so that his clan might remain in good standing despite the early deaths of his parents. So that some other clan did not attempt to usurp his birthright in the void that was created the moment the young lord's heart first shattered. So that he could provide and protect his child sister, who did not deserve to suffer from the cruelties of life at such a young age.
These thoughts had been his apothegm for years now: to sustain a life that the two Kamisato siblings were used to regardless of what might one day need be done to achieve it. These days his sister was no longer a little girl, however; Ayaka now a young woman mature in her own right ( so much so that at times the man swore he could see some glint of the mother he remembered in her ). One who had very much become the face of the clan as Ayato withdrew from public view, an act that the overworked clan head was immensely grateful for.
However, recently something had begun to bother him enough to pull him away from work:
This was a ‘critical time’, so said the unasked for advice he been given by the clan's remaining elders, and that one day he would be tasked with finding an appropriate suitor for her for the sake of the clan and it's alliances. A reality that Ayato himself was growing vehemently opposed to after assisting the Traveler with unfurling the scheme behind the short engagement between the Kujou clan's heir and the Hiiragi clan's leader' daughter. His sister would be no such political pawn in the games of power hungry men, not while he was still in play.
" Ayaka, " Came his voice, slender form moving languidly towards the roofed center of the estate's garden where his sister currently sat cushioned before the tea table--- the Commissioner for once without a retainer nipping at his heels.
" May I join you? "

@blazinguard | blows a kiss to my bestie
There was a chill that persistently continued to engulf the estate even as a change in season grew nearer still--- spacious rooms designed to let air in during the sweltering summers failing to protect their inhabitants from the elements of winter. The immaculate lord himself was not immune to the cold that seeped in through paper thin walls, though how he tried to give off the air that he was. Clad in thick, winter kimono with westernized elements he sat before a low tea table with the burning hearth some feet away, the heat that radiated from it just enough to even out the bite of cold that nipped at the bare skin of his face. His companion however, seemed characteristically unbothered. At times, it felt like a strange contrast to the Thoma he remembered before their Vision manifested and the one that existed before him now--- already wearing something that seemed more suited the upcoming weather of early spring.
" Are you not cold? " He knew the answer, truly, fingers moving wooden chess piece with nary a moment of hesitation seconds after the blond’s own turn. Double speak would flow from his lips in time, hand gesturing just enough to his side for emphasis: “ Perhaps it might be better for you to face the hearth, than have your back to it. “
‘ Come sit with me, so that I might indulge in your warmth. ‘
