đđđđ đđ đđđđ-đđđđđ for his short-fuse, something he can't help but admit to himself as he feels a woman's hands around his forearm. another thing he's known for? getting himself entangled in petty fights like these. and even if in this case the other male, who's currently getting dragged away threw the first punch -- adem is well aware that in the eyes of ownership, he's the easy one to scapegoat. especially considering how many shots he's ingested at this point in the evening. he turns to the woman, who's authoritative gaze immediately informs him of her ownership. " he fuckin' swung at me first, i swear. " he mutters, his words slurring together more than he's proud to admit. he doesn't usually drink this much, even if he's a rather prominent bar regular. " but if i'm gonna get kicked out for fightin' a douchebag who says some fucked up shit about a woman and then tries to fight me for callin' him out... i can live with that. "
owning a club had never been something that the woman had even thought about until it had gone up for sale. aurelia still tried to pick up odd translation jobs, partly because she enjoyed it but she could earn some extra money whilst doing it. the owner liked to be present - she wanted to know everything that went on and everyone that had been there, however, some nights she was particularly sensitive and unable to stay with the booming music and strobing lights. shooting a glare towards the other as security escorted the other out of the premises, her brow furrowed and then a slight chuckle escaped her. "did you hit back?" she had only assumed the answer given the scuffle that had erupted and quickly grabbed her attention. "don't martyr yourself. if anything, you will be removed from the premises if you fail to sober up, even a tiniest amount. how about we get you some water and have a nice little chat?"
Ayden hadn't really thought about Aurelia since their hookup that one night. He had seen her about the town, given her the friendly grin and nod but never approached to make small talk or texted her afterward to see what she had been up to. He just didn't really care or think their night had meant anything, at least not to him. So, when she walked through the doors of the pub, the male offered the same friendly grin as before while pour a pint for a customer on the other side of the bar. "What do you mean?" His brows furrowed in slight confusion as he slide the glass down to the patron, turning to give the woman all his attention now. "Did I do something to offend you or something?"
aurelia had always had trouble letting things go to the point where it was borderline obsessive - it had been something she was trying to work on. the woman found it difficult being intimate with someone so when she allowed herself to be so, it meant something to her. her brow furrowed as she waited to have his attention, telling herself that he was working and not trying to be dismissive of her being here. "i was going to ask you the same question. you said you'd call." she could have sworn she'd remembered that correctly; if that wasn't the case, she wasn't prepared to be highly embarrassed.
perhaps she had done something wrong, said the wrong thing but he'd never called her back. lia had given him a few weeks to call her but it had never happened and that concerned her. at the end of the day, it shouldn't have but she'd let herself be vulnerable to someone because she 'felt it was right' and yet, didn't hear from him again. now she was here of all places attempting to act casual - she knew full well who'd be there (hopefully). "oh, long time, no see." she'd planned this but it felt odd seeing him in this environment after he'd seen everything else. "look, um-" let it go, aurelia. "can we talk?" no. she had been slightly freaked out by the recent happenings but not entirely so to be convinced that her dead cousin was coming back to punish her. "i got the impression the feeling was mutual but maybe we're not on the same page." @aydenosman

biography
aurelia was taken in by the becker's (aunt and uncle of the infamous audrey becker) at the age of five. born to a single mother struggling to keep herself afloat, she'd turned up on their doorstep, given lia to them (no matter how much she cried) and sadly died six months later. they then legally adopted her and her name was changed to aurelia becker.
she displayed high levels of intelligence by being an excellent reader by the age of five, leaps and bounds in front of everyone else in her class. however, it was the social queues she didn't quite understand. there was little thought for other's in the class, frequently shouting out the answer because she just wanted to show them that she knew it already.
it was no surprise to her parents when the school called her gifted but that didn't mean they thought she could do no wrong. lia always wanted a seat at the adults table as she preferred to talk to adults over her peers - perhaps that was because she was an only child or that she struggled to connect with them. she did have a habit of becoming upset easily and instead of a hug, she'd get 'tough love'.
she was a 'daydreamer'. there was a period where she was fully convinced that she could fly because she had, at least in her head. audrey was the first person to dispute this, feeling sorry for the child but at the same time annoyed. lia wanted the older girl to like her so she'd make an extra effort with her but was forthright. she'd said something she hadn't liked and pushed her over. lia's parents knowing that she was an unreliable narrator, they accepted that she'd tripped. she would also go on worried rants about how the town was called deadwood and that the 'forest' wasn't safe and that people were going to die...
an impressionable soul, the murders that had happened had terrified lia (they still did). she wasn't meant to hear any of it but word of mouth travelled fast, from parents to her peers at school. her cousin had killed people? she'd never had many friends and now it seemed that she was losing them one by one (her parents fighting with the other parents) - she felt alienated. still, the family would do the best they could, try to keep everything as normal as they could.
lia was in her first year of high school when audrey was caught and everything started up again. she'd been having nightmares as it was but this made it worse. kids can be cruel but they can be more cruel if your cousin was a murderer. she was severely bullied, teased. an incident of a few other students attempting to flush her head down the toilet would result in her chin being split open, a concussion and being home schooled for the rest of the year - it only solidified to her that people were out to harm her.
there would still be claims of her seeing audrey, screaming in the night or getting up to check that the doors and windows of their house were locked; lia was convinced that she'd come back for her. her parents tried to support her but they finally realised they couldn't - she was fighting something that they couldn't understand so she'd need to see a professional.
once she was in therapy, had been prescribed medication and her parents changed her surname back to lea (which brought up some other negative feelings), she went back to high school. it took her a while to get her grades up since she was behind but she'd worked hard and would move out of deadwood to study languages.
whilst she did have some episodes, she'd learnt how to manage and identify them. living in the big city did prove a challenge but she was making a lot of money as an interpreter and translator, filling her spare time with running, meditation and going to language exchanges to help those wanting to practice.
it was eerie when she found herself back in deadwood. now with a blonde bob (a stark difference to her wavy light brunette locks), returning to help manage her childhood home now that her parents had passed. it was a hard thing to do as it was but so much lingered. still, she found some comfort in being able to have the space (even if she did see audrey sometimes) - she felt accomplished that she could stand it.
now the owner of eden (because she's more productive during the evenings), she passes the time with work, running and meditation to keep her mind as clear as possible. she's been taking care of herself, trying to ignore the strange happenings by keeping herself busy but how much longer can she keep it up?
Death was everywhere
In the air and in the sounds
Coming off the mounds of Bolton's Ridge
Ooh, death's anchorage
When you rolled a smoke or told a joke
It was in the laughter and drinking water
It approached the beach as strings of cutters
Dropped into the sea and lay around us
Death was in the ancient fortress
Shelled by a million bullets
From gunners waiting in the copses
With hearts that threatened to pop their boxes
As we advanced into the sun
Death was all and everyone
Death was all and everyone
