Watching Aurelie’s reaction shot a pang of pain deep inside him. There was nothing in his power to give Aurelie her voice back, and that killed him. “I’m sorry that’s over…”
‘The realization was bound to happen. It’s not your fault, you don’t have to apologize.’
“Yeah but this sick April Fool’s prank didn’t make it any better.”
“It’s not like we could help prevent the prank.’
“But that does not make it better, does it?” Jeanelle sighed. “Seriously. I shouldn’t have asked you such a question.”
“Honestly, it’s fine, I swear.”
“I am sorry,” Jeanelle bit her lip, sighing. “You do not have to tell me of course. I shoud not have been asking in first place anyway.”
‘It’s okay,’ she wrote. ‘I’m used to it.’
‘That answer does not make me feel better at all.’
‘Sorry.’
‘You’re going to be okay if I leave you alone then?’ Blue asked, worried for the other.
‘Hopefully.’
Jeanelle did not know if she should really ask what she wanted to ask. She licked her lips, trying to sign her question. “Does that mean you… had been able to speak at some point?”
Aurelie watched as the girl slowly signed out her question. Slightly frowning, Aurelie nodded at her question.
‘Are you sure?’ Blue signed, his arm still stretched out in offer of the canteen.
Aurelie took a hard breath standing up. She nodded back to him. ‘I’m sure.’
“Oh my gods, here.” Blue said, holding out a canteen of nectar.
‘I’m fine, I don’t need it,’ Aurelie signed absentmindedly, putting her hands on her knees, catching her breath.

‘You’re in my way.’ Eli signed, surprised that the other knew how to sign.
Aurelie was taken aback for a moment before signing back. ‘Oh, I’m sorry.’ She took a step back to let him through.
Jeanelled red the note and then nodded, smiling. ‘Thank you,’ she signed. “You are actually the reason why I have decided to learn it. It was scary not to be able to speak anymore all of the sudden. Really.”
Aurelie nodded. ‘Trust me, I know how you feel.’
PJ wrapped an arm around his sister’s shoulder, “I’m sorry, sis.”
Aurelie sighed and shrugged her shoulders. ‘This feeling isn’t really new.’

Having blocked his way, Eli bit his lip before deciding to pat the person’s shoulder. He continued looking down and waited for the other to turn around.
Aurelie looked around. “Yes?” she signed quickly without thinking whether the boy knew sign or not.
“Oh…” PJ said. It took him a moment to figure it out but eventually he did. You could talk during the body swap, couldn’t you?
Aurelie nodded slightly in response to PJ. “Yes.”
Evan was silent. There was really nothing he could say - or sign - that could make things better. Nothing could. “I’m so sorry,” he signed, sighing softly, “But when you did get to speak for that one day. How did it feel?” Ev wondered, smiling reassuringly, trying to show her he was just trying to help.
“It felt,” Aurelie paused, dropping her hands from her signing, she wasn’t sure of the how to describe it but the next sign that she did might surprise a few people, considering Aurelie was never the one to pout about being mute, she knew she couldn’t change it, “normal. It felt normal. It felt like I wasn’t this weird freaky demigod mute girl who constantly had to sign or write something down. It felt normal to talk.”
