pink diamond’s mural

i’ve been staring at the diamond murals a whole lot today, trying to study their style bc i’m planning on drawing a flash mural, and i noticed that pink’s mural is almost nothing like the other three.

it’s far more organic in nature and doesn’t follow the same geometric style as the other three when it comes to the elements around the figure itself, which IS drawn in the same style, but depicted in an extremely dynamic way compared to the rest. 

the “rocks” around her could easily be depicted similarly to blue’s dress, but they aren’t. instead they are very disorderly and more natural-looking. There are no parallel lines there, which is a recurring element in all other murals. It lacks the regal feeling and the balance of the other three.

i think these are things that were purposely done ‘wrong’ with that mural.

i’m puzzled, because pink’s mural definitely depicts a feeling of freedom, it’s dynamic and organic - but those are NOT things that homeworld supports or appreciates. 

so why was it recorded as something as grand as a mural, in the same room as other three murals, at a DIAMOND BASE of all places??

I Believe That All Our Art is Valuable.

I know a lot of people on Tumblr are creators, and I know building an audience and staying motivated can be tough, so I wanted to extend an invitation to anyone reading this to be a part of a new project I’m working on.

I’ve been running a YouTube channel all about helping small creators for two years now, sharing all my triumphs and mistakes to help people succeed where I’ve messed up. But I want to go even further.

I see too many artists with lots of talent but no idea how to get the word out. And it seems like lack of motivation among the artist community here is so prevalent it’s become a meme.

But as humorous as it can be it’s also kind of tragic. That depression is the norm.

I’m working on building an email list all about audience building, self-promotion, and marketing specifically for artists. About trying to find a way to bridge the divide between creativity and marketing It’s a topic I’ve been researching a lot lately.

The list isn’t ready to launch yet but it will be in a few weeks. If you’re interested just message me your email and I’ll take care of the rest.

I know I’m going to lose followers for this but since this but since this blog is basically dead anyway I’m just going to have to say it: I’m getting really fucking sick of how toxic social justice has become.

When I first came to this site the point of social justice, something I believed in and still believe in to this day, was equality: not just equality in the eyes of a set of inanimate laws, but equality of all people and all cultures in the eyes of society. Naturally, this focused on racial, religious, sexual and gender minorities: people who were not treated as equal and whose needs were seen as luxuries. The situation the face/faced was not fair then and it is not fair now.

I’m not sure how it happened – maybe the rebirth of racism and sexism brought it on, or maybe it is the reason such bigotry redoubled – whatever the case, we have gotten to a point where the most basic things we considered to be racist or sexist are now beginning to be treated as normal when they are aimed in the other direction

We were trying to fight for equality, weren’t we? So why is it that I’m reading about Gawker being incredulous by Facebook considering the words “Men are trash” as hate speech? If I said “Women are trash” (And no, don’t start claiming I want to be able to say this. both are unacceptable) it would be abhorrent, which it is, but the other way around it’s treated as a human right that facebook is stomping on?

Not long ago Vice ran an article that began with the lines “It’s literally impossible to be racist to a white person.” I ask you, what the fuck is the supposed to mean? Racism is by definition prejudgement, discrimination or hatred of another human ethnic group. When you say it’s impossible to be racist towards white people, you are saying that we are not human.

I get it. Right now it’s very scary to not be white or male or straight or cis. It’s never not been scary to be any one of those things here but it’s getting scarier. People need a way to vent, but guess what: If something someone says something to or about, you is bigoted, then that it is bigoted to say to or about them, and if you think one is acceptable but not the other, you are not only an abusive, toxic asshole, you are adding fuel to the fire and making this whole situation that much worse for yourself and everyone you are trying to stand up for.

I’m making this clear. I still believe in equality, but this is not equality, and I do not believe in this

I dont think that gems require air to talk I mean in Bubbled Steven and Eyebal were able to talk to each other just fine

Sound requires a medium to travel. And that has been consistently true in all episodes of the show, except that one. One outlier does not undermine all other instances of consistency.

My head canon is that the vibration of Eyeball's speech carried through her feet and reverberated inside Steven's bubble (and vice-versa for Steven's speech). Is that scientific? Probably not, but it's the best answer I can cobble together.
