Nodding Angela wondered what element sheâd be under. Probably water. Or perhaps fire. Considering how Hogwarts didnât focus on elemental bending Angela figured she would find out later perhaps. âWhat did you learn to do with your elemental bending? How to make ice out of water and such? Hogwarts doesnât offer any of that and itâs quite a shame. Considering the Slytherin common room is located beneath the lake Iâm sure I wouldnât have any trouble if my element turned out to be water. We have a hat to sort us into our houses, what does your school have to sort based on elements?â Angela had visited the Beijing school once but considering she was there on a mission, she didnât get the chance to appreciate the new methods of magic the school is best known for.Â
The auror grabbed another random tome, still fascinated with the wide variety of resources available at the library. âDonât you find it weird that a hat decides how the next of your seven years will be spent?â She asked, finding the sorting hat business rather peculiar. âI was sorted into the house of fire, which is very ironic considering the fact I hail from cold old Leningrad. I still did learn basic general elemental stuff though.â Viktoriya mused, chuckling at the irony of the situation. âWe were given assignments during our first week in school. Call it the entrance exams if youâd like. The elders would observe how well we did and with which element.â Her fingers flipped through the pages, casually admiring the notes pencilled in the sides by previous readers. âThere were some who were good at all the elements. In the end, it didnât really matter what elemental house you were assigned to since we all had to learn how to balance the elements.â

[â looks at the auror in the eyes and smiles reassuringly ] i wouldnât even say iâm half as⌠courageous as they are.Â
( ` raises a slight eyebrow at the expression used by the younger female ) interesting way to put it. ( ` the auror nods slightly, finding the comparison made by the female quite apt. viktoriya quietly noted that there may be truth to the houses and their qualities when she remembered that irina was a ravenclaw thus explaining her subdued reaction ) thereâs courage and then thereâs foolishness. when others have to intervene, thatâs not bravery, thatâs plain stupidity. ( ` shakes her head )

[Â â/ used to rising early, the care of magical creatures professor was already bathed, dressed and full of breakfast by the time the sun was peeking above the horizon. he wandered out towards the park, unbridled energy lengthening his already mammoth strides. spying his fellow chaperone, the fabled Auror Wen, he decided he should make the effort to get to know her a bit better since they would be spending a lot of time together over the next few days. his pace quickened to a jog and he waved lanky arms in fervent greeting as he came closer. she seemed to be concentrating on her exercise and it hadnât occurred to him that she might not want to be interrupted. his tone is bright and far too loud for the early hour. heâs oblivious to this fact. ]Â Auror Wen, good morning! Are you exercising or doing ballet? Isnât cardio best in the morning? I can show you some moves that will get your heart-rate pumping! [Â â/ the towering professor spreads his legs and starts flapping his arms awkwardly, shifting his balance to the opposite foot before crossing and dropping his arms and then repeating the whole ridiculous routine. ]
( ` the auror was in the midst of clearing her mind of any irrational thoughts when a loud voice interrupted her concentration. she quickly identified the intruder as the professor she had been assigned to work with, the boisterous tone of the manâs voice sticking out like a sore thumb. her eyes remained closed as she continued on performing her routine while professor kwangsoo rambled on. she did crack an eye open when the auror heard the noise of continuous movement and could only let out a small noise that could be classified as her way of snorting ) if weâre both out here, whoâs looking after the kids in the tent? ( ` she asked pointedly, the thought having just crossed her mind. knowing the kids in their group, they were most unlikely to be early risers, especially during the summer. however, the ministry had been firm on their decision to order the workers to keep an eye on the students at all cost so she couldnât help but feel a bit worried. viktoriya had not taken into consideration the possibility of kwangsoo being a fellow early riser but then it wasnât exactly a nuisance for usually the most disciplined could train themselves to rise early in the morning. or maybe viktoriya simply liked the notion of early birds )Â

( ` viktoriya wen was a woman of routine. she liked having a set of predetermined activities planned out for the day as it made her feel organised. the sun was barely rising at five in the morning but she was already out in the park, stretching her body to keep fit. the auror tried to transition between each movement slowly yet steadily. she was at the age where she had to really look after herself. and of course, the whole ministry fiasco was quietly stressing her out )
/scoffing at the woman before walking away/ not planning on showing up on time. I'll be busy.
( ` raises at eyebrow, scoffing back at the male student ) busy with what, precisely?Â
GROUP FOUR MEMBERS
I expect all Group 4 members to be at the tent by the time I get there.
Or else, heads will roll.

( ` the afternoon was quiet indoors for the majority of the castle population was outside despite the recent turn of events that had plunged the atmosphere into a suffocating one. though the capture of the two suspects did help to will the tension away thus it wasnât surprising that many were rejoicing the relieved feeling, the feeling of knowing that they were in somewhat safe hands for now. the auror strolled down the hallway at ease though she couldnât help but notice something suspicious was going on with the amount of noise she could hear .. )

Bowing respectfully she nodded. âBetter to be early and prepared. You know just as well as I do that being otherwise results in unpleasant consequences.â The woman had barely aged since the last time Angela saw her. Viktoriya exudes experience and skills from her mere presence and it was refreshingly nice to be with someone who understood what itâs like to be on missions, recruited for a certain set of competent skills. â"At least itâs nice to see that both of us are still alive. I always did suspect youâd live longer than me anyways. With my troublesome life and all.â Not hiding her bitter smile she sighed. Viktoriya is the only person in this castle currently who had a good understanding of the deeds and feats sheâs done in the past, as well as comprehension of her skills, both strengths and weaknesses.Â
A brief smile appeared on her face though not for long. âQuite wise of you,â she noted firmly in a curt manner. Such thinking would get the Slytherin far in life. Countless incidents had occurred that cost her friends and enemies their lives which all stemmed from their tardiness. Viktoriya herself stook by the rule of always being early regardless of how inconvenient and harsh it was on her sleep cycle. âNonsense. You live in a time of relative peace. I barely survived the clutches of death during the time of war.â The auror waved a hand airily, dismissing the possibility of the other dying young. It was possible but then she knew many of a similar kind that still managed to stay alive despite the numerous attempts on their lives. âYouâre a Slytherin, youâll find a way to cheat death at its own game,â she replied in a confident tone. âFor some reason life tends to favour those who donât deserve the gift of being alive.â

âYou called for me?â The female auror asked, no, stated in a blunt tone with her usual quirked eyebrow. She had just returned from a mission involving a psychotic former Death Eater who turned out to be quite a mess to deal with thus she was not in the mood to deal with any of her colleagues, even less her boss, Auror Harry Potter himself. Despite the fact she respected the Head Auror quite a lot, she was still irked by the last couple of assignments the former Golden Boy had given to her.
Said auror turned around to face her with a calm yet suspiciously uneasy smile on his face. âWhat is it, sir?â Viktoriya sighed, knowing that whatever assignment he was about to task her with was going to cause her to clash with his decision once more. She would still carry the task out albeit her personal disagreements on the matter but that didnât mean she couldnât voice out her opinions once in a while.
âFirst of all, no need to be formal with me, youâre technically older than me. And second, we have a new graduate from the training program that weâd like you to mentor, uh, take under your wing, you know.â The male replied as he handed her a file with the Ministryâs emblem engraved on the upper left hand corner along with the classic âClassifiedâ stamp. There was a Muggle passport sized moving photo of a youthful looking face, which meant - âThis Montague Delacroix boy better be a quick thinker cause Iâm not risking any of my missions by bringing him along.â
Her boss shook his head as if to dismiss such a notion of the new auror being an obstacle to her job. âThe ladâs talented. Graduated from Hogwarts at the top of his class, former Gryffindor. The auror instructors were singing praises of his abilities.â
âWhatâs the catch?â Viktoriya gave the younger male a knowing look. Her colleagues that came from a similar era as her were usually tasked with the mentoring assignment and she was left alone to mind her own business so for the Auror Office to specifically choose her as the mentor, well, the boy must be quite a handful to deal with then.
Auror Potter chuckled nervously, which wasnât that rare of sight to the female for the other was still intimidated by her - which was quite odd for this was the hero that defeated Lord Voldemort after all but then even the bravest of men feared her due to her being âThe Cavalryâ. âHe has, uh, how do I put this in an eloquent manner? He has quite a destructive nature to say the least.â
âDestructive nature.â She repeated in a bland tone, already feeling a headache itching to rage war with her exhausted mind. The Chinese-Russian female was close to refusing the task when a knock on the door interrupted the silent staring contest between the two of them.
âAh, that would be Auror Delacroix himself.â

{ ` raises her hand at the mention of interviews } is sulli going to be interviewed too? { ` her eyes sparkles, seemingly not understanding what being interviewed actually means nor she has any grasp of how serious this all is. ever since the incident back in her childhood, she has come up with this strange defense mechanism that alters everything around her, bad or good, into a piece of fairytales she often read to herself. turning every darkness into glitters and rainbows and refusing to see the truth. itâs the only way she could cope } you should live here forever. the castle is great. it protects people! iâm going to live here forever too!
( ` irks an eyebrow at the raised hand, feeling as if she was in another one of those training the newbies teaching session the ministry seemed to be fond of ) youâll be interviewed too. everyone has to be interviewed in the end. ( ` she replied calmly, her eyes watching the younger femaleâs face carefully to see her reaction to her answer. so far, the girl seemed quite harmless but then, she has met people whose appearances could have really fooled her ) iâd like to live here forever, but i canât. my job requires me to travel. itâs one of the perks. or you could say drawbacks if you like a certain place a lot. ( ` viktoriya looked around her, taking in the sight of the castle ) youâre lucky to live here. ( ` she shoots a small smile ) are you planning to come back as a professor then?

Grinning she nodded. â"It does, though my thirst for knowledge only grows. But this library doesnât have everything. So I tend to use the good olâ Internet for everything else.â If anything this talk made Angela more curious about the institution Viktoriya graduated from. What were they taught, what wasnât allowed? Are the spells in Mandarin used differently compared to the spells Angela herself has learned in plain English? Due to Chinaâs rich culture thatâs so different from England she couldnât help but be intrigued. âA Slytherin through and through. What about your alma mater? Are there houses to be split up into like Hogwarts?âÂ
She nodded understandingly, once again quietly trying to accept the fact that the current generation were simply more fortunate than her generation to experience such privileges. âBetter than nothing,â the auror quipped, her eyes scanning the rest of the books placed arranged haphazardly on the bookshelves in front of her. Some of the booksâ spines were well worn out mostly due to countless generations of students frequenting the tomes for schoolwork while there were some that were dusty and rigid in its place, as if no one had cared to lift the cover open to peek into the contents. âIn a way, yes, we were divided into different sections. Though rather than traits, we were sorted according to our best element. Water, air, fire and all that.â Viktoriya replied. âMade it easier for us to focus on strengthening our elemental bending skills that way.â
WIZARDING SCHOOLS AROUND THE WORLD: BEIJING
Out of all of the international wizarding schools, the Beijing Institute for Witches and Wizards boasts perhaps the most complicated collection of portkeys, and hidden entrances. While it had become incredibly difficult to hide a school in such a densely populated city, the wizarding community has successfully reconstructed the institute to be integrated with both the ancient and modern parts of the city. Unplottable buildings have been built between boutiques in a number of Beijingâs hutongs that can only be accessed by asking for the correct meal items from the right food vendor, modern skyscrapers have been erected in city centre that can only be accessed by portkey or hidden entrances, large hidden courtyards have been laid out in lush parks that can only be accessed by passing through the right columns in the right gallery. The decision to distribute sections of the school around the city had been unanimously agreed upon by the students, who are relishing the opportunity to push their magical potential in new environments. If the invisibility booster installed on enchanted bicycles was to backfire, muggles would be treated to a brilliant vision of colourful bikes crisscrossing the sky.

There was much talk among the students about the government officials who have arrived at their school. Rather there was a lot of eager whispering surrounding a specific person. Viktoriya Wen. Many have heard of the legendary tale of how she earned the nickname âThe Calvaryâ. Angela herself wondered if she would ever earn an epithet as cool as that. Sheâs heard of a few but most were hateful and misogynistic so she figured maybe not yet. Deducing from passing classmatesâ talk of how the auror was currently in their library Angela snuck around, trying to use her experience of stealth. Upon seeing her from a few meters away Angela crouched down before hiding in the book case right behind her. Deciding against letting too many thoughts crowd her brain about what to say upon approaching the older woman she decided to just be her charming self. âMust be kind of new to not see redacted titles, huh?â Looking at the older woman in the eyes daringly before smiling. Of all places Angela didnât expect to see the auror at her school again.Â
The auror did hear footsteps coming her way but she didnât bother raising her head for she simply assumed that it was another student who intended to cram for an exam or an assignment last minute in the library. So when her ears registered a voice that was quite familiar to her, she blinked in surprise, having not expected someone she knew from her past to be in the castle. âExtraordinary, even,â Viktoriya replied firmly, eyeing the book she was holding in her hands. âDoes it make your studies easier, though? With all this information available at your disposal.â The female asked, silently thinking to herself that she would have devoured the contents of the books if she had gone to Hogwarts instead of Beijing during her youth. A brief thought of her being a perfect Ravenclaw did cross her mind but her colleagues had told her she was more of a Gryffindor type of person. Speaking of which, she was not surprised that Angela had been sorted into the house of the sly. âSlytherin, huh? Wouldnât have expected anything less.âÂ

{Lock had been doing his rounds while when he heard quickening footsteps behind him. He glanced over and gave a bow of his head.} Youâd be the first to know if I had. {Lachlan was unsure of how to feel about the other Auror. Sometimes he enjoyed her company and then sometimes he just ended up arguing with her. It was definitely a love hate sort of relationship.}
( ` she nodded curtly in response, her mind reconstructing the different scenarios in her head. so far there had yet to be anything suspicious to report back to the office so she had held off answering her supervisorâs owls demanding her to keep him updated with any new developments ) same here. i donât like this. my guts are telling me thereâs someone here. ( ` the auror pursed her lips, a scowl forming on her face. it was rare for her to confide into others what thoughts were plaguing her mind but lachlan was different compared to her other colleagues ) you?

youâre welcome! hehe~ { ` the apples of her cheeks reddened as she smiles, her fingers raising to tuck some stray hair that escape her ponytail back behind her ears } an auror? { ` sulli tilts her head to the side as her finger pokes into her cheek in confusion. } ah! is this related to the interviews? does that mean youâre leaving once itâs over? { ` sadness quickly crossed over her face and drowns her eyes as she realizes the other might be leaving. which is silly since they just met. }
( ` the corner of her lips quirked up slightly as she took in the rosy cheeked appearance of the younger girl, envying the other for being so innocent and sheltered from the cruelties of the world. she hoped that the student would never have to go through what she went through for the thought of such a pure girl losing faith in the world pained her ) hmm. ( ` she hummed in confirmation when the girl repeated her answer ) it depends. we have to see how the interviews turn out. might have to stay if it turns out someone here is connected to the events. ( ` shrugs casually, her face returning to its usual blank stare as she was reminded once again of her duty here )
