Aurora Rising has the least amount of physical romantic action in it but why is it that it gets the BIGGEST heart-eyed oomf, aching reaction out of me. It’s just so simply and sweet, Kal and Aurie’s interactions, that I’m sort of overpowered by how much I adore it??? I keep the book on my bedside table with the Kal x auri parts bookmarked so I can flip to it and squeal. I would lay down my life for this awkward fuzzy warm couple

So we all know now, from the Aurora Burning synopsis, that Kal has a sister, right? And she’s most likely part of the Unbroken, from the looks of it.
What if his family is influential within the Unbroken? I don’t think he’s specifically expressed that any of his family has died, he’s only spoken of the fact that his *people* were killed by the Starslayer.
These two moments where he (and other Syldrathi) tense up because of his last name definitely lead me to think this...
I like this theory, I just checked and his mother is a waywalker and he seems to think of her fondly but his dad like totally could be high up in there
(Also this made me think of the idea that Kal could be the Starslayer's son because they never give the guy's second name but it wouldn't work because they probably wouldn't let him anywhere near the AL if so but its a fun thought)

More Kalora content?? But also just more Kal backstory!!! I really hope there’s gonna be some Zila backstory too. She needs more content!!! I feel like they did her kinda dirty in the first book… Like I guess she’s supposed to be kinda quiet but I wanted more of her.

It’s been a loooong time since I finished these and most people may have seen it, but I never posted them!
This the whole Aurora Rising gang, commissioned by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman to help promo the book.
I love all of these kids so much and it was kind of surreal working on this project. I learned a ton—to say the very least—and it was quite a challenge to visualize the characters before the book was available for me to read. I struggled mightily with Kal’s design, let me tell you.
I was re-reading Aurora Rising and I just realized at the top, Finian is having a dream and it says “blue snow” and we all know what that means. So is Finian having visions too?
She wanted to twirl!!!! Let Auri twirl!!!
