Rudyard on the Moon is still such a funny concept to me based on nothing but the title. I get the impression that David K Barnes and co. might be running out of situations to put the Funns in. Rudyard has been convicted of multiple murders, he's been stranded on a desert island, he's arranged a fraudulent seance, he's accidentally assisted in an attempted murder, he's posed for a naked calendar, he's pulled Chapman off the top of a waterfall, he's single-handedly destroyed the economy of his village, he's accidentally organised a pirate-themed riot, he's been caught grave robbing, he's investigated a serial killer, he's attempted to get the body in the ground on time for clowns and seagulls and a fictitious erotica novelist, he's directed funerals that have gone wrong in almost every conceivable way... I'm having a Lot of Feelings about the fact that @worldgonewrongpod is coming to an end very soon. And it seems absurd that I've basically posted properly about it. So this is my very belated pitch that you should listen to World Gone Wrong podcast!

World Gone Wrong is an audio drama masquerading as a podcast chat show, where two friends in their twenties discuss navigating the everyday ups and downs of life while also reckoning with the fact that their world has suddenly become fucked up in a range of fantastical ways as well as all the regular ways.

Our two co-hosts Jamie and Malik talk about how to respond when your pet is bitten by a werewolf, whether ghosts should be legally considered people, what to call the extra hour that has randomly appeared in the day, whether to trust the alien that's replaced your shitty ex, and what's going on with the Fae and the sewer alligators and unicorns and and the Pied Piper and the Bermuda triangle. And amongst this, they also talk about navigating the job market, dating, family relationships, the trials of working customer service, and dealing with mental health and grief - all in the context of their fascinatingly enfuckened world.

You hear their friendship develop and change as they deal with disagreements and difficult emotions and the highs and lows of long-distance friendship. They laugh and cry and develop inside jokes and fall out and talk things out and support each other. They do very much feel like two ordinary, endearing people who you get to hear hanging out and talking about a world that's messed up in ways that are at least more interesting and entertaining than the ways our own world is messed up.

World Gone Wrong has become a big comfort show for me. It's by turns funny, charming, relatable, moving, and surreal. It confronts the struggles of existing in a deeply flawed and confusing world but finds hope and joy and solidarity amongst it all. Go listen to it now! The appeal of friendship and apocalypse is calling to you!

(Oh also it's produced by Audacious Machine Creative who've made Unwell and The Harbingers, and for people following my blog, it'll likely be an extra attraction that Gabriel Urbina wrote a couple of the seasons. Tho it's tonally different than you might assume from those facts 😅)

due to various circumstances (finally getting a job and then getting a second one, very few shows i listen to having ongoing releases, getting into audiobooks, playing copious amounts of breath of the wild after i first started it last month) i have listened to a disappointingly low amount of audio drama so far in 2026, so i am humbly requesting recommendations for shows that will properly get me back into listening again. some examples of the kind of shows i am looking for below (but also i will take any recommendations).

longer shows that i can get really into (e.g. with a big long-term mystery)

currently ongoing regularly releasing shows OR shows that are still releasing but have a lot to binge before catching up

non-anthology shows. i do love an anthology but right now i need a show which is more plot heavy.

also i will take recommendations for recently started shows that are ongoing releases as i need to build up my weekly release list again (i miss having such a busy podcast release schedule!!).

shows that are good for a commute (walking and getting the bus/train) (interpret this however you like).

podcast soundtracks were a big feature of my overall music listening this year! my most listened to song of 2025 was the @camlannpod main theme and @tincanaudio ended up being my third most listened to artist overall because of how much time i spent listening to the camlann soundtrack (and also more recently the tower soundtrack, which i have had on repeat in the last month or so!).

this year i also bought the spirit box radio s1 soundtrack (which made up a lot of my listening in march-april) and last bandcamp friday i bought the hearthbound soundtrack. i can't wait to increase my collection even more in 2026!

liveshows!

i was soooo excited that i was able to go to the london podcast festival again this year!! it was an absolute highlight, i got to see some of my favourite shows live and meet some of the really talented people behind those shows. it was also the first year where i successfully made friends and spoke to other audio drama fans, something i really wanted to do in previous years but hadn't gotten the courage. my camlann poster has pride of place in my room, even after i managed to accidentally squash it with my water bottle in my bag almost immediately after getting it signed :((
