We Are Running A Live Actual Play!

Next week sees the crowdfunding launch of The Deepest Dark! A new horror TTRPG zine from Ella Watts (Camlann, The Tower) and Georgia Cook (The Holmwood Foundation) that I'll also be making a soundtrack for!

The Deepest Dark is a GM-less, tragic horror TTRPG about dying in a cave-in and, to celebrate the launch of the crowdfunder, we're going to be running an actual play of the game live on the Tin Can Audio Twitch channel next week on Monday 2nd and Wednesday 4th February, 8pm UK/3pm Eastern.

Ella will be joined on stream by special guests Nathan Blades, Poorna M, Wren and Georgia Cook

Ella and our delightful guests will be playing The Deepest Dark with live sound design from myself, using as many noise boxes and weird tape sounds I can squeeze into a couple of hours.

You know how many of us joke that Pride month should be followed by Wrath? Well, this year I feel a deep, burning fury towards all who use transgender lives as political propaganda, bargaining chip or something to be debated and decided on without any of us in the room.

We are human beings. You cannot erase us.

Gentle reminder that big media entities (bands, TV shows, podcasts) running open 'write for us' competitions are, more often than not, a way to get a bunch of talented people to work for free and then underpay whoever wins.

They are exploitative (especially for new and young creatives) and should be avoided as much as possible.

I got the snowsky echo mini on your recommendation a few months back, I don't use it for podcasts but just for music, but it's my favorite little guy ever and I have to thank you. Me, my cable earphones (who recently survived a full wash cycle, troopers), and my echo mini on a carabiner against the world <3

I've got a £10 pair of wired headphones that have gone through the wash multiple times and yet somehow still work. I don't know what kind of protection spells they had in the 2000s but they clearly work!

Do you feel bad right now? Kinda listless, like everything is being dumped on you? Eternal misery that cannot be fixed? Try eating a potato. You'll feel a lot better.

Potatoes, while obviously the single most lifegiving crop in human history, have gotten a bit of an unfair rap in the media. Be it because of carbohydrates, not enough greenery, or the fact that everyone only eats them fried to a crisp in oil and heavily salted, it seems like there is always a chance for our so-called "truth tellers" to deliver a slam to the noble spud.

Of course, improving your mood will require cooking a potato. Eating them raw does not seem to make me feel any better. And that can be difficult, if you are already feeling pretty terrible. That's why I think we should replace the police with people who hand out a baked potato. They could have like a little oven or something with them and when you want one, you get one.

Now, now, I hear a lot of you saying: oh, but then who will arrest the criminals? That's scarcity thinking. There'll be no criminals anymore. If you're feeling like you might want to rob a bank, it's possible that you just need a baked potato. With chives, little sour cream, bacon bits? Any nearby Potato Officer will provide, and then you can go right back to having a productive life, doing some kind of weird hobby instead of threatening to shoot a bunch of people unless they give you money that you would just use to buy potatoes anyway.

So I want you to think about this the next time the city police budget comes up for renewal. That could buy a lot of potatoes. Hell, it could buy some fried potatoes. Damn, that sounds pretty good right now, doesn't it? Way better than having some kind of unaccountable stealth helicopter flying down your alley because some asshole didn't get to eat dinner this evening and has committed an unspeakable crime about it.
