Pippa was very excited when she found out she was joining this Academy. Although she did not believe that her skills were great enough to become a Hero, it was a place to make new friends, which she always enjoyed. A voice caused her to look up and smile. “That would be wonderful, thank you.”
With a small smile Aurora approached the girl and held out her hand, gently pulling her up before asking ❝are you okay?❞ The girl looked okay for the most part, but Rory didn’t know what had caused her to fall. ❝I’m Rory❞ she introduced herself. She didn’t know what she had expected when she arrived, she was nervous but maybe everyone was as nervous as her.
character: lisa snart
Jackie had been raised with music as a means of therapy, Harley often thought it could quell the inherent rage within the boy. It failed, of course, but Jackie found himself enjoying the music all the same, learning to play as well. Every so often he would sit and play for hours. This was one such session, where Quinzel sat with his guitar, playing a song he’d heard recently that resonated with him
♫Welcome to the room of people Who have rooms of people that they loved one day Docked away Just because we check the guns at the door Doesn’t mean our brains will change from hand grenades You’ll never know the psychopath sitting next to you You’ll never know the murderer sitting next to you You’ll think, “How’d I get here, sitting next to you?” But after all I’ve said Please don’t forget All my friends are heathens. Take it slow Wait for them to ask you who you know Please don’t make any sudden moves You don’t know the half of the abuse♫
Aurora had always enjoyed music. She had never wanted to play but if she had the voice for it she would’ve loved to sing. So despite being really off key she would often sing along during car rides or just dance around the living room. So when she heard a few notes followed by a voice, she knew she had to find the source. Approaching carefully as to not to disturb the person Rory made it close enough to see a boy with a guitar, she was finally able to make out the words he was singing. A small smile crossed her face, her aunt Lisa would’ve loved that song, she made a note to mention it next time she talked to her. Rory wanted to say something but was afraid she would disturb them, so she just leaned against the door frame and kept listening to them.
Bella sighs looking around the island feeling kind of bored. “This place seems alright. Probably not going to be fun once classes start. I’ve seen some of the teachers here and they don’t seem like the easy going types.” She leans over the balcony enjoying the breeze and turns when she hears someone walk onto the balcony.
“you know just cause my parent’s are villains doesn’t mean you need to be so cautious you need to sneak up on me. I won’t hurt you. Promise on scouts honer.” She smiles slightly at the newcomer.
Aurora has allowed herself time to relax. After the initial shock upon arriving on the island she had finally settled in and decided to explore the place. Now more about getting to enjoy what the island offered instead of mapping the place in her mind. As she made her way to one of the balconies she heard a girl around her age talk about what awaits them once classes start. ❝Yeah I was told the training and classes were going to be intense...❞ she says with a smile.
Rory shakes her head at the girls words, ❝oh it’s not that❞ she approaches the girl still smiling, ❝your mom Pamela, she uh she helped my aunt once❞ her aunt Lisa had always admired the women of Gotham, ❝your mom probably helps a lot of people❞ she said with a dismissive gesture, ❝but uhh my aunt liked to tell me that story❞ the whole girls helping girls had always been a big thing for her aunt Lisa. ❝I’m Rory❞ she said offering her hand.
From Avengers’ Mansion, to Avengers Tower, to Avengers Academy, Justice had in some capacity always been used to this kinda lavish, though if he were honest, The Kondaira Isles was an unrivaled paradise. That’s why for the most part he stayed in the training rooms, the field when allowed, and the studio in Rogers House. He trained solo mainly because with the exception of his siblings, his powers gave him a significant edge in combat that it appeared only they were capable of bypassing.
He looked up as he heard the other speak, running his fingers over his shield again. “Uhh, well, no, not exactly, I’m just stubborn like that. If I wanna be a team leader, I gotta be able to lead my team into battle, but can’t forget the basics for when I go it alone.” he explained before laughing. “But I sounded like a stuck up dick just then, sorry. Sorry, have we met? I’m Justice.”
Out of everything they might teach her here, Aurora believed that working in a team would perhaps be the biggest challenge she would face. She had been part of teams before, when other sets of skills were required to pull off a job, but the minute things got complicated it was every person for themselves. She knew this would not be the case here, here they were supposed to look out for one another, while protecting those who needed it. All in all it didn’t sound that bad. Rory raised an eyebrow at his words but kept the smile on her face.
❝No we haven’t. I’m Rory❞ she said offering him her hand, ❝nice to meet you❞ she looked at the shield on his hand, she had seen that in the news plenty of times before. ❝Captain America?❞ she asked pointing at the shield.
“Compromises had to be made. You really know what your neighbors are doing at all hours of the day.” He joked, laughing as he came closer to stand next to her. He could tell she was nervous and kind of unsure of what to do but given that he’d been here for a long time, he pretty much knew where everything was. “That sounds like a place I’d like to see. I’m a big fan of giant gorillas. There are a few people around her that are equally, if not more, unique than that. I’m not. I’m good with arrows. That’s pretty much it.” Frank shrugged, looking over at her and smiling. “Trust me, this is a judgement free island. There’s a wide variety of abilities and talents that are here and there’s no way you won’t find your niche. What’s your house?”
Aurora laughed at his joke. She was grateful to have ran into someone with such a positive attitude, from her past interactions she had found out that not everyone was in place because they wanted to. That had started to plant some seeds of doubt about the intentions of this place. She had really wished this would be a fresh start. ❝Good with arrows uh❞ she repeated smiling brightly at him, her parents had worked with someone who was good with arrows. ❝I can hold my own on a fight, but before coming here I got some parting gifts❞ she shared. She nodded at his words, ❝uh Prince, Prince House❞ she said with a smile. ❝What about you? I’m Rory by the way❞ she added.
Lucky didn’t trust A.R.G.U.S. much, or at at all really. They’d never given her a reason to, if anything that had taken away any reason for to trust them when they decided she was bound rehabilitation. She had been six and it had been an accident. The idea of being anywhere where A.R.G.U.S. had any say over what she did didn’t sit well in her stomach.
“ Nice to know at least some A.R.G.U.S. training facilities don’t look and feel like a prison. ”
Aurora looked up and came face to face with a girl around her age. There was something about her that was strangely familiar, she would have to ask if she had ever been to Central City. Now they were housemates, and this place was supposed to help them become teammates, or something like that. Some of her Aunt Lisa’s friends had spend some time at A.R.G.U.S. managed prisons, their stories had not been pleasant.
❝How do you know their other facilities?❞ Rory asked with curiosity.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to keep Charlie in handcuffs was either incredibly smart of incredibly stupid. From the moment they’d left Bel Reve, Charlie was kept under a heavy guard. But now that they were on the island, the captain decided it was time to let her lose. After the handcuffs had been removed, Lee smiled to themselves and picked up their small bag of belongings. Out of the corner of their eye, they noticed someone staring and caught their eye. “You got a problem?”
❝About the fact that they brought you here handcuffed? Yeah❞ Rory said glaring at the guard. ❝Why would they do that?❞ this place was one surprise after another, no one had told her that they would still be labeled as criminals, as dangerous. Aurora was glad that she hadn’t been considered a threat, she didn’t think she would’ve been able to handle the ride here in cuffs. ❝So what’s your power?❞ she asked wondering why these people were so afraid of the girl.
- J.K. Rowling
Alyx raised an eyebrow at the girl. “ That isn’t the type of thing I’d lie about. Everyone who has a villain for a parent is placed on the stupid watchlist. ” She huffed. “ It’s just the way things seem to work here. ”
❝Oh❞ Aurora said failing to hide her disappointment. This was supposed to be a new start, a way to make up for the past. ❝Does that mean they don’t trust us?❞ she asked not sure if she wanted to hear the truth. Her mom had been an assassin, her father a wanted man, but they had both left those lives behind to try to save the world. It wasn’t fair to them.
“What’s got you so overwhelmed?” He asked the pretty blonde, coming up next to her. She had seemed lost and nervous and as someone who had been here a while, felt like he would be a good warm-up for the normal hustle and bustle that was the island. “I know it seems big but you can actually drive from coast to coast in a little over two hours so all in all, its rather small.” He smiled, hoping that it would help her in some way.
❝I don’t know if that makes me feel relieved or more surprised. Relatively small and they can fit everything from the brochure?❞ she joked. Rory wondered what powers the handsome guy in front of her had, she wondered if he had been here for long, what had made him want to come here. ❝I just saw someone levitate a trunk twice their size❞ she shook her head, her eyes full of amusement, ❝the weirdest thing back home was The Flash❞ she said bitting her lip, ❝ohh and a gorilla that could read your mind, so I guess all in all I shouldn’t be that surprise❞ Rory cocked her head to the side as if in deep thought. ❝I- uh... I’m just worried I won’t really fit in...❞ she admitted.
Hands tightened around her suitcase handles as the girl stepped forward. Margo couldn’t understand a word the other had said, and she searched her face for any hint. The girl seemed nice enough; Margo certainly couldn’t detect any sign of malice. Slowly, she released her bags. “I…I go to le Kent House. You know?” She tried, hoping the other could understand.
Aurora was not used to people not immediately trusting her. Her aunt said she had one of those face that put people at ease, which turned out to be helpful when pulling a job. As the girl seemed to relax Aurora gave her a smile. When they had told her there would be people from all around the world, and other worlds, Rory never really thought about language barriers. ❝Kent House❞ Rory repeated and nodded, the place was a few houses down from her assigned House. She pointed towards where they should be heading and before she grabbed the bags she tried her best to remember her lessons, ❝Mon nom est Aurora❞ she said offering a hand, ❝mais je m’appelle Rory❞ she said awkwardly hoping she had got it right.
Q listened to her words, understanding to a certain extent. He hadn’t been expecting much of anything, but then again, he wasn’t planning on coming to the island until he was already there. He took a drag from his pipe, exhaling, causing the smoke to form into a cloud underneath him that he then sat on. “Yea, I get that, never too much knowing what they got til you see it. It’s….I think different’s the best word for it.”
❝Different is probably the one word that works❞ she said with a smile, still trying to take it all in. ❝They told me about what I would find❞ she explained, ❝but I guess not even my imagination could come up with all of this❞ this place was beyond anything she could ever think or dream of. ❝You’ve been here for long?❞ she asked trying to stop herself from asking the real questions she wanted to ask. She had been curious as to why every person had decided to come here, but it somehow seemed like it shouldn’t be the first thing she asked.
Alaric let out an awkward laugh, shaking his head and hiding his face in his hands. “God, can we just pretend I didn’t just make a complete fool of myself.”
❝Sorry❞ she managed to get out in between the laughter, ❝I’m really trying this thing were I’m totally honest, so I can’t really help you...❞ she said shaking her head unable to stop laughing. ❝What were you even trying to do?❞ she asked trying to make sense of what had just happened. All in all she was slowly getting used to this place, and the people in it.
❝It’s alright❞ Rory said with a slight shake of her head, giving them a small smile, ❝I- uhh... I just didn’t know what to expect, that’s all.❞ It was the truth, when she had been told about the existence of such place, she had pictured it quite differently and exactly as it was. Training rooms and weapons practice, that she had expected, the beautiful scenery had been a surprise, and the people, the lots and lots of people, that she still was trying to process.
Taking a deep breath, Margo took the first step forward toward her new home. It was surreal; one moment, she’d been living with her parents in Paris, the next she was moving to America. So far, it was proving to be a challenge. She was trying to juggle two suitcases and a few boxes of books. Even with her abilities, she couldn’t get very far. She bit her lip and stopped the first person she saw, already regretting picking Spanish as her second language in school. “Excusez-moi, but you could…s'il vous plaît help with my…bagage?”
Aurora imagined this was what going to college was like. This was her going to college experience, in a way, in a very strange way. Everyone running around, hauling luggage, carrying boxes. Those with powers having a less stressful time moving everything they had brought, others like Rory had taken forever to get settled. When she had finished she had decided to explore a little bit, get to know her surroundings, take a look at some of her future classmates, teammates, she reminded herself, at least that’s what they had explained to her. ❝Uhh-❞ she turned to the location of the voice. Her aunt Lisa had tasked her with memorizing basic sentences in a handful of languages, Spanish had the being the one Rory had enjoyed the most, French not so much. ❝Sure❞ she said with a shrug, is not like she had anything better to do, ❝where are you headed❞ she said reaching for the suitcases.
