“Do you think this is, like, too much?” Dinah asked. She stood in front of a mirror, wearing a white and rainbow striped sweater and jeans despite the summer heat. There was air conditioning. Let her live. “It’s not too gay or anything, right?”

“it probably has something to do with everyone’s dads thinking they were the be all, end all of functional footwear and buying approximately six pairs for every member of the family in 2005… not that i speak from experience.”
“Okay but, like, dad fashion is great so I don’t really understand the issue. Like, I wish my dad had gotten me six pairs of crocs.”

“You can’t go wrong with NEAT. I say if you like then wear it, my uncles wear far worse honestly. Crocs are the least of anyone’s fashion problems if you ask me.”
Fashion faux pas’s had always gone over Dinah’s head. Jorts and crocs and denim-on-denim had never been things that went out of fashion for her. “They are, like, barely a fashion problem.”

“I agree with you on that one. It’s disgusting.”
“Oh, I don’t know if it’s disgusting or not. I just can’t actually eat it. Which is the part that sucks.”

“They need to focus their hate toward something else, seriously.” Hal replies with a vague hand gesture.
“Seriously. There are, like, way more valid things to hate on. Like non-kosher pizza. Non-kosher pizza sucks.”

“What the Hel is a Fortnite and why are Midgardian kids so obsessed with it?” Bjørn was genuinely curious, though he had no intention of actually playing it. “It looks…boring.”
“I think it’s, like, some video game? People talk about the dances a lot but, uh, I’m not really into gaming so I don’t really have any first hand knowledge of it.”

Dinah furrowed her brow. “Is that, like, not a lot? Pretty sure most of my posts get only like 12 likes.” She knew she wasn’t the best at the whole social media thing. She used instagram mostly to post pictures of her cat.

Axel shrugs his shoulders slightly. “I don’t have any idea. I’ve never worn them myself so I don’t have an opinion really on how comfortable they are. I don’t think they look nice though.”
“They are super comfortable. It’s, like, unreal. I think they look, uh neat. Yeah, they are neat. Just, like, neat, you know?”

“People still hate crocs? I mean I think it’s because they aren’t aesthetically pleasing — it’s just personal opinion though I think.”
“I don’t think people, like, ever stopped hating them. That’s valid, I guess, but like, I think they are nice.”

nodding, lysander could understand – although his wardrobe didn’t differ much from muted pastels and light greys, colours that were unusual to him did make him a little uncertain. he could appreciate where she was coming from, though, because he had a bright blue jumper that he was entirely too afraid of that he bought on a whim.
“oh. well. i don’t think you should be too… it’s not an offensive colour or anything, you look lovely. i hope this isn’t too weird? sorry. i just… th-thought, uh, you should know.”
“It’s not, like, too weird at all.” Still, Dinah’s cheeks remained red. “I’m just not the, uh, best at taking compliments. At least that’s what my mom always tells me.” Or at talking to strangers. Or talking to anyone. Not that anyone couldn’t tell that from a short conversation with her. “But thanks. It’s nice to know that trying something, uh, new out wasn’t a mistake or anything.”

“Are they, though?” Dinah asked. taking little note of his tone. “Like, they aren’t that ugly. It’s, uh, a charming ugly. The kind that, like, will be aesthetic in a few months.” She said with a shrug. “I don’t have twitter.” She’d never seen much of the appeal of the site. “Are those anything like, uh, facebook arguments?”

“That explains a lot then, I can’t do self-care. I’m allergic to dairy.”
“That must, like, suck. I can’t eat cheese with everything because, like, kosher but not eat it at all sounds terrible.”

Dinah groaned, the action far too dramatic for the situation. “I know that’s, like, the best thing to do. But, like, I might just... pass.”

“I mean, personally I think they’re hideous. But there’s plenty of hideous shoes out there. Functional… I guess.” Caroline shrugs. “I still wouldn’t wear them.”
“Isn’t hideous, like, an overstatement? I like how they look, and they seem very, uh, versatile. Like, I could wear them with, like, any of my outfits.”
