Good Bye Claude

What can be said about Claude Julien? After a 39 year drought, you lead the Bruins past the Montreal Canadiens in 7 games, the Philadelphia Flyers in 4, the Tampa Bay lightning in 7, and the Vancouver Canucks in 7 to finally bring the Cup back home. In 2013 after the tragedy that was the Boston Bombing, you lead the Bruins to the Finals once more and then the Presidents trophy in 2014, to lift the spirits of the people. You have the most wins as the head coach of the oldest American NHL franchise in the league. You have taken physicality and grit, and turned it into production, where the league sees it as a plague. Unfortunately, your time in Boston is done. It is time for you to move on to better things, and I know this is the better move for the Boston Bruins and your legacy in the long run. You will be missed Claude Julien, and it is sad to see you go!

Texans 16 - 34 Patriots

Well the Patriots rise above adversity to beat the spread and vanquish the Texans playoff hopes by 18 points. Dion Lewis had a fantastic game, but definitely needs to work on holding the football. Onto the sixth straight AFC Championship.

Back to the playoffs for the Pats with the first round bye and home field throughout. Against a major underdog at home, but not getting my hopes up because the last time that happened…. Tragedy struck. Go Pats!

Red Sox take on the Twins in Minnesota and I am confident they can pull off the sweep. Cleveland should win at home by St least ten tonight to tie up the series 2-2. Sharks make it interesting and win it on the road to bring the series to 3-2 and bring the series back to the Shark Tank! RIP Gordie "Mr. Hockey" Howe

Mr Hockey Gordie Howe dies at age 88.

Gordie Howe, recognized as the greatest NHL player who ever lived, died Friday June 10th, the Red Wings announced.

Forever known as Mr Hockey, Gordie set a number of records that many fans worldwide had considered to be untouchable. Tough in many aspects of his career, Gordie was a player not to cross and not to take lightly.

Playing a grand total of 26 NHL seasons, 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and a brief season with the Hartford Whalers, and a 6 season stint in the WHA. 

Gordie’s list of achievements:

Playing until the age of 52, Gordie scored 801 goals and 1,850 points in 1,767 regular-season games.

A 23 time NHL All-Star.

Four time Stanley Cup Champion: 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955

He was the League’s top scorer in four straight seasons, from 1951-54, and again in 1956-57 and 1962-63.

Winning the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Trophy six times.

Pioneered his own hockey stable, the Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Set standards that were believed to be out of reach until “The Great One”, Wayne Gretzky arrived in the 1980′s

Sports World Update

Golden State loses to Cleveland 120-90 to bring the series to 2-1 in favor of Golden State. The Red Sox lose after a great outing from David Price 2-1 in San Francisco. Pittsburgh has a chance to clinch the Stanley Cup for the fourth time tonight against San Jose in Pittsburgh.

Well the Red Sox get a solid win on Opening Day, the Celtics clinch a playoff spot, and the Bruins are depending on other people to determine their playoff dreams...can't say I am surprised or not disappointed at the same time.
