LIFELINES AND LEGACIES - A D&D inspired TS4 Legacy Challenge

Even though I’m not active, I wanted to start another legacy challenge, but I didn’t want to do a normal one. Since my friends and I play D&D and love it, why not take inspiration from there? And so here is the culmination of that little brainstorm! It’s my first time making a challenge like this, so hopefully it won’t be that bad. :D It’s a legacy challenge based on the Dungeons and Dragons classes!

People who got diagnosed early. People with developmental delays. Autistics who also have intellectual disabilities. Autistics who are also physically disabled. Happy autism acceptance month fellow degenerates

In honor of me reading far too much into things, let’s take a look at Yor through an autistic lens, shall we?

In the second chapter, and the second episode if you’re an anime only, Yor Briar is introduced. She is initially shown as a very distant character, often finding herself divided from her coworkers. They definitely view her as a bit more, well, naïve and childish, a view on autistic people that’s pretty common in our society.

As shown here, Yor takes things at face value, a very common trait among autistics. She doesn’t understand the joke her coworkers made.

Next up, we have Yor at the tailors, speaking with Loid for the first time.

I don’t know why, but the way she phrases things really reads as autistic to me. The bluntness, the use of bigger words. Not really sure how this ties in, I just think it does.

Finally, we come to a very important panel

This panel just screams feelings of separation from peers, the feeling of wanting some of that bliss in life, but feeling like you can’t get it.

So, anyways, that was my autistic reading into Yor Briar-Forger, let me know if I should be more :>

Because when they ask why you did it that way, they're not actually asking. What they mean is "this was the wrong way to do this." It isn't actually a question.

So you start answering their question, and they read that as you making excuses for doing it wrong. The problem is they didn't actually ask a question. They expected you to apologize for doing it wrong.

I do know this one from when I worked in retail, and its in the same family as parents dismissing children with "because I say so." It's heavily normalized but it shouldn't be, because it's really just a power trip kind of thing, wanting their ego stroked by forcing humility from a peer. When someone pulls this I actually do stop being sorry at all because it feels like they don't actually care about what happened so much as the opportunity it gave them to feel superior. Retail managers practically cream over getting these moments.

This is not an "NT thing." It's a passive-aggressive asshole thing. They're just looking to yell at you and take out their anger and call you stupid, it's a power trip.
