these are the same make of teddy bear
i think it's kinda funny when ppl group in Ally with the other protagonist girls because she barely even qualifies. like girly got One game that marketed her as a protagonist and it sold bad because it Was bad and it barely did anything with her to begin with, and then in the game after that they just banished her to an extremely short optional bonus chapter because they didn't know what to do with her . i guess we just like her anyway.
ecolo would use it/its pronouns if sega weren't cowards

Atari Guide
Y'know, for a number of reasons, I can't call this post "done." But also I've had this all written since before the Lidelle summary so... eh. Let's just post it and I can make an expanded post later down the line
Atari is an absolute disaster, in the best possible sense of the word.
General consensus puts her at the 18-20 age range. Her speech suggests someone fresh out of high school and lucky enough to land her dream career first try.
Said career being "spacetime detective." An encounter with one in her past (heavily implied to be Seo) inspired her to pursue that.
She seems to view detectives as heroes. They're the good guys that catch bad guys and help the civilians smile again by resolving their problems.
The cop dramas she watches probably have something to do with it.
In Japanese, "atari" means "tackle," "full force," "impact," "bullseye," "on-target," or "jackpot," depending on the context. Atari often takes advantage of that fact and puns accordingly.
These puns have more than once turned a self-introduction into a brief Who's On First sketch.
(God only knows how that's gonna be handled, if at all, should she ever have dialogue in a localized game.)
Matching with that tendency to make those kinds of puns, Atari is extremely eager and enthusiastic. When she decides on doing something, she'll go at it full-force.
(The downside to this is that once get gets her momentum, it's difficult to redirect her)
She's quite strong and athletic. Not on the scale of Rulue, but she can overcome whatever sort of gravitational pull a hole in space and time has, and can swim fast enough to match a shark.
Atari loves food. She has a ridiculous appetite and will start eating anything offered to her. And a lot of her thoughts tend to end up gravitating back to food sooner or later.
Her favorite is onigiri.
Atari is earnest, polite, and optimistic, but she's a bit of a space cadet. She tends to get details mixed up and act without planning or thinking.
Did I say she's a space cadet? I mean Atari is completely unhinged. Her untamed energy leads to her saying and/or doing things that are stupid yet hilarious.
Her verbal filter and volume control are highly questionable and her focus on the thoughts she gets is almost impossible to stop.
It's taken her a few reminders to not blurt anything out about knowing people she's met on different cases on different worlds.
Atari's gotten better at observation and deductive reasoning since she joined the STDA, even if she's still non-sequitur prone.
Appropriately enough, the more absurd the case, the better she is at solving it.
She's resourceful, and good at figuring out solutions to the immediate problem with the tools she has available.
She's pretty self-aware. Combined with her unchecked optimism, Atari is known to boast about her inability to perform a given task.
Her optimism isn't infalliable. Sometimes it borders on toxic in an especially bad situation.
Atari is easily impressed by the accomplishments of others, no matter how minor (or whether it was something she should have already been able to do). It drives her to push herself further.

Ally Guide
Not feeling great tonight. If there's something major I've forgotten, blame the delirium
Ally is a fictional character brought to life.
She's the heroine of a fantasy novel. And now she's a real girl.
Satan wanted to LARP as a princess rescued by a hero (Arle), so he used his power to bring the world to life, still within the book. Thus, Puyo Chronicle happens.
Because of Satan's shenanigans, the book's structure, narrative, setting, and primary cast of characters have been altered.
And now it's just another world that exists in the multiverse. It's even been threatened by a world eater.
As for Ally herself, her primary trait is her devotion to love as a concept. She's quite literally an all-loving hero.
It's not made clear if she was always like that, or if Satan's shenanigans with the book turned her into a caricature of herself.
Ally is very, very, very, very polite. The closest she's ever gotten to being rude to somebody was cheerfully agreeing that Klug is, in fact, a jerk. Because he was acting like one.
In both her game and the real-world book (Amitie and the Girl of Love), she comes to the firm conclusion that Arle and Amitie are the prophecied Great Hero of her world.
The former was heavily implied to be the results of Satan's machinations, but the latter was more spontaneous
In both cases, Ally accepted it and believed it whole-heartedly.
I feel like she's quick to assume someone else is the Hero not because of anything like a low self-esteem, but because she sees the absolute best of everyone and is eager to elevate what she sees is great about them.
Because she does do that. For example, she is very firm in her belief that Rafisol is better than she thinks she is.
Ally is the actual hero, though. She was tossed out of her world by Ouroboros (the aforementioned world eater) specifically so they wouldn't be stopped by the Hero. Marle also called her Hero when she visited.
While enthusiastic and earnest, Ally is very socially awkward and tends to weird people out with her talk of love.
Especially with her "Let's fall in/spread the love!" go-to. That almost always takes new people aback.
Ironically, Risukuma's extremely broad yet oddly specific definition of love weirds even Ally out.
Honestly I get the impression that whether Ally or Risukuma throws the other off their game depends on who manages to start rambling first.
Ally knows how to bake-- or at the very least, she's been known to make cookies and doughnuts.
Puyo are not native to Ally's world, and reportedly only began to appear at the start of Chronicle.
Whether any Puyo remain in Ally's world after the fact is unclear. She was just as shocked as Arle, Amitie, and Ringo when she built a 3-chain on muscle memory alone.
Ally's faith in love is so strong that Ecolo, who doesn't think love is a real concept to begin with, concedes that it's what makes her powerful.
Speaking of, the pendant Ally wears is not from her world, but something Ecolo smuggled in.
It's not certain if she received the pendant directly from him, or if she happened to stumble across it after he dropped it in.
(Though given the pendant's properties, it being a direct hand-off sure seems likely)
Klug Guide
Could this one have benefitted from another day or two in the oven? Maybe, but I'm going to bed after this so it's not my problem
Klug is a regular, run-of-the-mill kid that desperately wishes to be somebody special and important.
His interest in dark magic started with Lemres, whom he knew by both having the same neighborhood. Between Lemres's family's reputation and his incredible magic prowess, Klug more or less concluded that dark magic was the coolest thing.
He also learned about the Tome of Sealing from Lemres, and that's why he sought it out.
Most of the magic he's used since claiming it is using the Tome as a supplementary source of power.
(It's still a library book. But he claims to be the owner. "This book is mine forever.")
Klug genuinely is intelligent and a good student. His studies are meticulous and his status of honor student is well-earned.
Still, to him, that's not enough. He feels inadequate from how little he stands out on his own.
Consequently, his study habits are extremely unhealthy. He often stays up late into the night reading, studying, and reviewing. God only knows how he's not passing out at his desk on a daily basis. A heavy reliance on caffeine is generally assumed.
He will never admit it out loud, but wakefulness aside, he is very, very tired. He's going to crash face-first into burnout without an intervention.
He gloats about his brilliance to cover that sense of inadequacy and to not seem vulnerable around his peers. It's the dreaded inferiority-superiority complex combo.
Klug is a massive tsundere. He refuses to say how much he cares about and appreciates the people he considers friends, deep deep down.
(Except the one time he did, to Amitie, and overreacted in embarrassment)
That does include Raffina. They may bicker, but they are friends at the end of the day.
Actually, they have a lot in common. More in common than they'd like to admit. In fact, there are several times where they have nearly identical lines. One example is the win/lose lines in Raffina's match with Klug in 20th.
Still, they're a lot less at each other's throats these days. Klug especially has really mellowed out, since Fever 2.
He's still an obnoxious jerkwad with a tendency to self-sabotage who will jump at the chance, however slight, to demonstrate how amazing he is, but he's less prone to pick a fight with Raffina for no reason.
Klug still doesn't really get along with Feli well, at all. On top of them being extremely competitive over Lemres, he's just straight up terrified of her.
Feli's like half his height and Klug is still scared of this girl.
He's not completely heartless to her either, though. In fact, he's been concerned for her well being when she wasn't herself more than once.
The only person Klug has been seen outright apologizing to is Lidelle.
Klug's match against Rulue in his 15th story is not canon. I'm just gonna toss that out there.
On top of loudly claiming to be the owner of the Tome of Sealing, Klug will also loudly deny that he has any mysterious connection to any magical entities that may or may not dwell within its pages, of which he will insist that there are not any.
He'll also very loudly deny knowing anything about romance, sex, or crushing on somebody and refuse to talk about any of it.
(He's absolutely crushing on Lemres)
If Klug can't distract himself with books, his method for dealing with high stress is escapism. Which can sometimes escalate to being outright chuuni.
Klug seems to not have much confidence in his future. He'll proclaim being destined to be an archsorceror, but he seems unable to visualize what that means or entails.
It's been suggested that the way Lemres has changed since Klug knew him from childhood (as well as his direct influence since Fever 2) has led to him to start questioning his convictions.
Honestly the above link is a really good analysis. You should read that one too.
ive said this before elsewhere but a personal take on klug i have is that klug actually has above average magic potential! hes just stuck measuring up against a LITERAL SUN GODDESS INCARNATE and a HALF-DEMON
Had a realization last night that mamono from madou monogatari is probably close to what the original demon looked like cuz the word used in the original japanese text when refering to them is also mamono which i think some of the japanese fandom figured out but still,,, but also, in quest they gave mamono some similarities to sig and slug
The antenna on sig and the dot eyes on both of them
As well as the plummage ruffling up when attacking? Frightening people?? Idk, and slug's spirit's spiky shape. The feetsies also are clawed but not mamono monogatari's hands like sig's are, so i could be blowing shit up your ass idk
i’m not apart of the bedbug agenda…
don’t wanna be an american insect…
calling out to insect america !!!!
