Anna/Aleera
Guardian of Transylvania Monthly Report
One month has passed since the sighting of Aleera, Dracula's youngest bride, at the memorial statue of Anna Valerious.
We have been keeping close tabs on her since, but have not yet made direct engagement with her.
While this has been going on, about a week ago, we received a disturbing transmission emanating from a remote island in the South Pacific. The broadcast signal was very muffled, however, we were able to decipher most of the message, of which we have noted bullets points of below:
. The originator of the broadcast identified himself as Doctor Alphonse J. Moreau
. He claims to have spent his young adulthood in Transylvania
. He claims to have studied at Bavaria University, and to have been cordial with fellow disgraced doctors Henry Jekyll and Victor Frankenstein
. He claims his specialty was vivisection, essentially creating animal hybrids
. He claims to have had at least a professional relationship with Count Dracula and The Brides
. He claims that in 1874 he was ambushed by a nest of vampires near the coast of the Black Sea and was thrown into its waters to die
. He claims that he spent the next decade wandering the earth, spending a few years in the colony of New South Wales, Australia
.He is promising to return to "the land I once called home, and the land that cast me to the wolves" on Halloween this year
We were able to confirm Moreau did study with Jekyll and Frankenstein at Bavaria University, and did graduate, however his experiments in vivisection started to worry his fellow students and professors, especially after one of his projects promised to "rid the world of imperfections" which he claimed feelings of compassion, love and empathy needed to be "stomped out".
Moreau does indeed have a "sanctuary" on a South Pacific island not far from the coast of South America, where he has spent years creating and perfecting his "Humanimals". Frightening hybrids of different creatures.
We were unable to confirm any information about Moreau's alleged relationship with Dracula or the Brides. However, it should be noted that while most of Moreau's tone in the broadcast was calm and confident, once he began to speak of them, he became far more emotional and animated.
Guardian of Transylvania Monthly Report
It is 1908. Two decades have passed since the death of Count Vladislaus Dracula and the extermination of the vampire race.
With Gabriel Van Helsing still at work fighting other malevolent forces across the world and the friar Carl now being a full-time monk, the Knights of the Holy Order have appointed myself, Fritz Blackfire, as the acting guardian of Transylvania.
Everything has run quite smoothly so far. The village of Vaseria was abandoned by the remaining inhabitants following the tragic yet noble deaths of Princess Anna and Prince Velkan. Both Castle Valerious and Castle Frankenstein lie in ruin.
However, I received a troubling report from one of my men a few days ago. He was making his morning patrol through the Vaserian Cemetery, when he overheard the sound of a woman crying. As he described it "It was a primal wail. Like someone had ripped her heart and soul out." He approached the middle of the graveyard, towards the memorial angel built in honour of Princess Anna Valerious.
And he saw her. Long curly red hair, wearing a pink and white dress, her skin deathly pale.
Unmistakably the apparition of Aleera, Dracula's youngest bride. The redheaded Spaniard. She was kneeling at the statue, weeping uncontrollably. Above her head, the memorial plaque "IN MEMORY OF PRINCESS ANNA VALERIOUS. 1859-1888. LAST OF HER LINE. DEFENDER OF THE LIGHT. PATRON SAINT OF TRANSYLVANIA".
Between sobs, her whispering "I'm sorry, my love. I'm so sorry. I let you down. I should've stood beside you, helped you..."
