Lynette Lee graduated from Southern New Hampshire University, earning a Bachelor's in History.  Currently, she is a graduate student at Liberty University pursuing her Masters' Degree in History. Through her education, Lee hopes to bring more realism to historical fiction. She is working on a collection of short stories and poems. But she is also working on her first novel, Captured.

Writing Life

The smoothness of the yellow coating pencil was comfortable in her hand. As she pressed the small-shiny gray tip down, her handwriting boldly scratched against the bright-white paper. Roughly the pencil transcribed each of her words, which flowed from whiten her. Moments later, with her rough outline completed, she began transcribing her scenes on a blank Word document.  The rhythm of the clicking keys relaxed her. As her flow ended, she studied each sentence and reread each paragraph.  What else could she add.  What did she need?  What did she want to know?  What would be important to her readers? Taking a sip of her hot cappuccino, the bitter-cream taste of hazelnut and vanilla filled her mouth.  The cream gathered around her lips. Automatically, her tongue swept across them and gathered the cream. Still feeling the uncomfortable residue, she quickly used the back of her hand, wiping the wetness onto the side of her jeans. Her whole concentration was on her bright computer screen. Not knowing where to go next, she clicked on file and print.  Chemical fumes burst in the air as hot ink splattered across the printer paper, as the laser buzzed with a comfortable racket.  Taking another sip of coffee, she leaned against her chair.  When the hum of the printer ended, she placed her freshly typed words next to her computer. Reaching for a sticky-note and pen, she scrawled, “Edit tomorrow!” Shutting her lap top lid, she finished her coffee and went to bed.

The Writer

Stripping everything down,

Making it bare,

Exposing.  

 Throwing everything in,

Trying new words and rhymes,

High cycle spins and flow begins.

 Tumbling along, around and around,

Sentences take shape, colors blend,

A masterpiece is formed.  

 Layer by layer, a story takes shape,

Characters become real,

Readers are pulled in.

 Tucked tightly in,

The story is real

Exposing them.

 Can’t stop the flow.

I live in Harrison, Arkansas.  My great-grand parents spoke English.  The were from England.  I fear spiders, sharks, and alligators.

The US Dollar increased 0.0910 or 0.09% to 99.3000 on Thursday May 4 from 99.2090 in the previous trading session. Historically, the United States Dollar reached an all time high of 164.72 in February of 1985 and a record low of 71.32 in April of 2008. The United States Dollar Index or DXY measures the performance of the dollar against a basket of other currencies including EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, CHF and SEK. Now that I have these numbers, I can  see that the dollar is recovering from the 2013 fall.  I will use this site as a source.

The dollar is on its fastest rise in 40 years

The US dollar is rising in value at its fastest pace in 40 years, and there's little sign of a pullback any time soon.

Comparing the 2013 article to this 2015 article, the United States dollar went from failure to strong rise to success.  Very interesting, but this does not help me much. My topic is on the "dying of the U.S. dollar."  :/

Is the Dollar Dying? Why US Currency Is in Danger

The U.S dollar is shrinking as a percentage of the world's currency supply, raising concerns that it is about to see its run as the world's premier denomination come to an end.

Ending of Term 5

Four chapters of Captured type, edited, and revised.  

Gained knowledge of social media sites and how to utilize them for my writer’s platform.

Will revamp my Tumblr page to include recorded lectures, photos of me and my classroom, and graduate research.  

Research on how to engage in Tumblr better. What do Tumblr’s want to see and hear from writers?  What draws them to writers?  

Implement a photo to each post to engage visually with Tumblr’s audience.  

Utilize all the features from Tumblr and maintain a strict posting schedule.
