People like to scorn James Cameron's Titanic movie for not being 100% historically accurate. I don't understand that. For one thing, it's not meant to be the story of the Titanic's sinking exactly. The story takes place on the Titanic and follows the journey of it because of that of course, but it's not the Titanic's story, it's Jack and Rose's story, the Titanic is just the setting. And even with it not being meant to be 100% historically accurate, it's actually very accurate. Details like the number of lifeboats, the ship's appearance itself, references of certain passengers and staff, good gods James Cameron even included the only automobile on the Titanic. He didn't just throw his characters on a ship and call it the Titanic, he clearly did his research (or probably had people do it for him, but you get the point) and took history into account in the production of the movie. It's Jack and Rose's story, but the Titanic didn't suffer for the movie not being about it.

And honestly, James Cameron's Titanic has the best cast. Captain Smith alone, the character looks exactly like the man. There are others very accurate too, but Captain Smith was the best, completely dead on, and the one I remember most because of that and because nothing else I've ever watched about the Titanic gets the captain's appearance even close and I don't understand that. Even just styling the beards would go a long way towards helping that, but they never do.

One way to identify chicks' genders is by behavior. For chickens that aren't autosex (hatched with traits that inmediately identify males and females) this can be the earliest way to tell a chick's gender. For example, I've always known November was a hen because she tried to sit on her siblings eggs like a mama hen would from the minute she was hatched (it didn't work very well because she was the same size as the eggs, but she tried!).

According to this logic, both of my new chicks ifentify as popcorn, because that is how they move: by popping around all over the tank in sudden jumping hops.

Came out to do afternoon release and water and was surprised to find these two! I didn't think they were due to hatch until this weekend, but chicks X and Y are already here.

I was going to watch a movie tonight after mom went to bed...4 hours ago. I literally just realized I've been reading this whole time instead. But I finished my book!

I wish I could get paid to read. Gods know I crave books enough, I'd never have a problem with money again.

I haven't worked on this one much yet, but my cat peed on the one I was focusing mostly on.

I think I just have to succumb to the fact that I won't be able to get these chickens set up properly for summer laying this year. I've done all I can. but I can't afford to finish my plans, and even though that's just one or two things missing, those are BIG one or two things that I think would make a huge difference. 😮‍💨 Oh well. I'm trying to take comfort in the fact that this is my first egg laying summer, so it's understandable I'd have to take time to learn this stuff. But it's hard because this just hasn't been a great summer for me so far, and that hits even harder because summer's my favorite season of the year.
