Most of my special interests come and go, but my core and biggest special interest is sharks! :) they have been my special interest for about 4 years. I first got interested in them when I was a teen and watched animal documentaries. Shark documentaries fascinated me. I was first afraid of sharks but then I started to see them in new light and interest came back years later as a special interest. I collect shark stuff and I'm familiar with some shark scientists and I have a couple of shark books and I watch Youtube videos and listen to podcasts about sharks. Sharks are cartilaginous fish related to skates and rays and they don't have bones but cartilage, that is lighter. Sharks don't have a swim bladder but a very large oil-rich liver that helps in buoyancy. There are about over 500 species of sharks with different lifestyles. What I love about sharks is their variety, how amazingly they survive and recover and how they are actually intelligent and sensitive animals. They sense vibrations from water and electric impulses of the beating heart and moving muscles, their wounds get healed fast and they live almost everywhere. I love sharks :)

I can't recall if I've sent this here or not. If I've already done this, I'm very sorry. My current and almost constant hyperfixation is Bioshock. Especially 1 and 2 because I love Rapture so much. Columbia is... eh. It's fine I guess. But RAPTURE. City under the ocean. There's a lot they never tell us of course. It's FPS and arguably aside from the twist you're not really supposed to care all that much. But there's enough to be worth looking for and reading about.

Heyyy so I just infodumped on a reblog to one of your posts but if its ok I want to infodump about something else too lol.

So. My number 1 special interest is Lord of the Rings. And I just love everything about it I have a whole blog dedicated to it & I know all about all the characters, & I've made myself a calendar so that I can always keep track of which events from the books/movies happened today. I've also made myself some lotr-themed t-shirts. My favorite people in lotr are the hobbits, especially Frodo and Sam because they are just so cute and they are best friends and I think their relationship is so amazing. I write lots of fanfics about them. And one of the best things about lotr is that it goes really well with another of my special interests which is autism. I headcanon a lot of lotr characters as being autistic & recently I even decided to start my own fanfiction event to encourage people to write about lotr characters being neurodivergent, & it makes me so happy that two of my fav special interests go together! The lotr movies are also so amazing, they look so REAL but parts of them were filled in a parking lot & a hotel squash court lol. I've probably watched the "making of" documentaries for the movies 7 or 8 times, & I love how irl all the actors are EXACTLY like the characters they play in the movies. The movies are about 12 hours long, but they are amazing & I've watched them a million times & know all the songs & I recite most of the dialogue along with the characters when I'm watching lol.

Hi! I'm actually not very good at infodumping because all my life I've been masking and I've convinced myself that people don't want to hear about my special interests or they'll judge me for them. On top of that, I'm quite good at understanding things, but I'm not very good at explaining what I understand. Like finding the right words to describe what I know and deciding what's important to say about a subject. Also I have very bad imposter syndrome, so I often talk myself out of infodumping because I feel like I don't actually know what I'm talking about and people will find out and think I'm stupid. Sorry to drop this on you, but I stumbled onto your blog and it made me sad that I wanted to tell you about my special interests, but immediately talked myself out of it. I really want to be able to be myself and be proud of what I know and love, so it's something I want to work on.

So here's me being brave and doing it anyway😅 My current special interests are Autism and Doggerland. Doggerland was a piece of land that once existed in the North Sea, between the Netherlands and England, but it has been flooded around 7000BC when the earth got warmer after the ice age. Archeological findings like flint tools and carved bone tools suggest that both homo sapiens and neanderthals have lived on Doggerland. Also a neanderthal skull was found there, he is now called Krijn and I saw it last week in a museum here in the Netherlands! 😁

Idk how start shit, but uhh I've recently (like 4ish months) got back into one of my primary interests!! I sadly had to leave it for a year or so despite how much I love it cause haha guilt go brrr. But like !! Expect it's a whole fricking subgenre of youtube/content creation so it automatically takes more time then is in a day. Like I just- I love this game and the youtubers who play the game so much (/p)!! -🍁 1/2??

brokeback mountain has been ROTTING my brain recently and I wanted to talk about ennis being autistic so. here I am.

- firstly, he’s often nonverbal. On the mountain, ennis says a piece about what he’s going to do after brokeback. Jack comments that “thats the most you’ve said in two weeks”, and ennis responds with “thats the most ive said in a year”. He also says nothing to his employer, or later in the movie, the people he works with (I THINK he might have selective mutism but im hyperverbal myself so idk)

- secondly, he’s v touch averse when it’s not on his own terms. at one point, jack tries to tend to a gash on his temple, and ennis takes the washcloth from him, insisting he do it himself. Another time is when jack tries to hug him a second time when they first reunite, ennis shoves him off, but still touches their foreheads.

a few other things i couldn’t turn into paragraphs is that chewing his thumb seems to b a nervous stim for him, same with fidgeting with his hat

Happy autism acceptance month. Let’s make it a good one by taking a minute to acknowledge that Hans Asperger, the doctor who did a lot of work researching autism, was a Nazi sympathizer, if not simply just. Outright a Nazi.

We really, REALLY need to stop using “Asperger’s syndrome” as an identifier. As an autistic Jew, it really bothers me to still hear it used so frequently. Full disclosure, it pushes me out of the community. In my experience, people do NOT like being told that something is harmful and they often will not take criticism from Jewish people. I do not see enough people talking about this, therefore, I am going to talk about it to the best of my ability. A little disclaimer. When my own diagnosis was explained to me, it was the first label I was given. I was told not that I had autism, but that I had Asperger’s. However, when my information was updated, the diagnosis had become defunct and was changed to ASD. I didn’t really care about this until later, when I learned the history of the term Asperger’s and probed around for information on its history. Anyways. Let’s stop using the term:

- Hans Asperger is a Bad Dude. I have two sources for you to read. The second source is graphic, so be careful. All around trigger warning for Nazism, child death, intense ableism, eugenics, and in the second source, abuse mentions, graphic descriptions of emotional distress and violence, a lot of very harmful rhetoric around autism and other disabilities, and mentions of hospitals. - The diagnosis is not used anymore. It’s a form of autism, a form of ASD. I can’t really speak to what it means to diagnosis guidelines. What I do know is that the term is no longer used by health professionals, as of 2013.. Anyone who was previously diagnosed with Asperger’s would now be diagnosed with autism. - The diagnosis doesn’t have anything attached to it that isn’t encompassed by ASD. Everyone’s autism can present differently, but that doesn’t make anyone less or more autistic. Additionally, looking at the criteria that’s used to separate Asperger’s from autism is eerily reminiscent of… looking at a list of traits that neurotypicals find to be “more tolerable” in autistic people. Tl;dr: Hans Asperger was a Nazi and we need to stop using ‘Asperger’s syndrome’ as a label.

Oh my gosh I. I love new wave. I love the late 70s-mid 80s post punk scene :~))) and punk scene but mostly post. Lately, for the past few months, I’ve been very obsessed with Elvis Costello. HE IS SO CUTE. And the records, oh my god, what genius. I’m reading his autobiography right now (I mean lately not while I’m typing lol) and he’s talking about the inspirations for his songs. He actually said “some people call it inspiration, I call it work.” How interesting Elvis... For his song Pump It Up, off his second record, he took the chord sequence from a Bob Dylan song. But Bob Dylan took that chord sequence from Chuck Berry!!! But anyway, later on, U2 was inspired by Pump It Up, and one night Elvis and Bob Dylan were talking and Bob said something like “Oh its soo awful how U2 just stole your song like that. I mean it’s so terrible they just took the chord sequence.” He was putting him on. I love that I love thinking about them together like that... Pump It Up is suchhh a good song that’s off This Years Model which is an incredible album. In production they detuned the guitars, bass, organ, and even the drums to have a “sour” effect. In the music video for Pump It Up, and I Don’t Want to Go to Chelsea because they were filmed on the same day, you can see that the bassist Bruce Thomas has a huge bandage on his hand—that’s because he was juggling glass bottles and cut it open. Because of that he actually couldn’t play for a while and Nick Lowe had to be the bassist at concerts for a little while!!! He was the producer. He actually wrote the song What’s So Funny Bout Peace Love and Understanding, which Elvis covered and brought to fame!! I like the live recordings even more than the studio ones, though Nick did try to get as live a sound as possible (at least on This Years Model, this is according to the autobio) and didn’t fall to the temptation of the 24 tracks. The live versions of I Don’t Want to go to Chelsea and Watching the Detectives are INCREDIBLE... HOW DO THEY EVEN DO THAT!!!!!! During those earlier years they had a sparse enough catalogue to make concerts seem like one long song... mate it really is incredible... the bass parts the drums the organ I... 🥺🥺🥺 AMAZING. My favorite song might be New Amsterdam, off Get Happy!!, it’s sweeter than the others but I love it so much. He’s holding tulips in the music video, he looks so cute. HES SUCH A BRILLIANT LYRICIST I want to be able to write like that... I was going to quote some lyrics but I would have just sent the whole song lol. I’m watching the video now I’m so happy lol and I’m sooo happy to be sharing this information YAY FBFHHD you’re so nice for having this blog I’m so giddy now

My newest special interest are sharks :) they have been my favorite animals for a long time and at one point they were my fixation and now they have returned. I love all sharks, but favorites are great white shark, zebra shark and whale shark. There are 500 or maybe even 1000 species of sharks. Great white shark can jump 3 metres while mako shark jumps 6 metres and it can swim 74 km/h. The world's smallest shark is dwarf lanternshark, that is about 20 cm long.

That’s so cool!! Sharks are so fascinating! I just found out about the cookiecutter shark! Sharks are very cool! I never realised exactly how many shark species there were!

My special interest has been Pokémon for as long as I can remember. For the past few years, I've taken a particular liking to shiny hunting. I actually reset my Ultra Moon game so I could start over and only progress to the next route when I get a shiny (after catching is unlocked). It's going... Slowly... On the side, I've been soft resetting for Lugia in my Soul Silver game, hatching for Patrat in Pokemon Black version, and replaying through Y so I can start chaining in that. I've been trying to teach myself Japanese for a few years now as well, but I've never been able to stick with it for long. So I've decided to play Pokemon X again, but in Japanese. I'll hand translate it to romanji to put into Google translate. It won't be the best translation, but it will hopefully at least teach me the alphabets. And as an added bonus, I'll be able to Masuda method breed without having to worry about the other Pokémon being hacked or being the offspring of a hacked Pokémon since those are banned in official tournaments. I've been thinking of getting into competitive battling, so I'd prefer not to take any chances on a 6iv shiny Aegislash or something being banned. I'm less worried about Pokémon obtained in a switch game since those are EXTREMELY difficult to hack, but I'm still skeptical and would prefer to gain them myself. Luckily, anything from Kanto and anything that evolves from a Kanto Pokemon are relatively easy to get as perfect IVs due to chaining in Let's Go Eevee, which I'm hoping I'll be able to start streaming eventually so other people can share in my enthusiasm.
