Art, a Gift to Explore Your Identity (Final part 3)

For this part of the final, Autumn and I decided to collaborate to draw the beautiful Dev building. Both of us have lived in Dev during our undergraduate years, and had awesome memories hanging out in each other's rooms, telling stories, making jokes, having awesome laughs. We also chose this building, because Dev, in both of our opinions is the MOST beautiful building on the St. Bonaventure campus. We picked the arch to be or main focus, because it is indicative of a path, and a path that we have crossed many times: on the way to our rooms, on the way to classes, on the way to the parking lot, on the way to the Hickey, and NOW on the way to take graduation pictures to remember our Bonas memories forever!! Than you, Dev, and Bonas, for a wild experience of a lifetime! Autumn and I will definitely miss this integral part of out college experience!!!

Art, A Gift to Explore Your Identity (Final Part 3)

APPLEBEES BEEE FOREVER our HOME

For this part, I collaborated with Autumn to draw one of our favorite restaurants nearby campus. You may have already guessed it..... that's right! It's Applebees. My favorite thing to order is the cheeseburgers there and their famous riblets. This is our go-to spot to unwind after a busy work week. We would share many fun memories at Applebees, smiles, laughs, and celebrations! At Applebees, we would always share our biggest milestones, from birthdays, to passing our Senior Colloquiums and Senior capstone presentations. One place we will miss hanging out around will be Applebees! Applebees will surely miss us 🤪).

Rose and I wrote positive phrases on sticky notes and put them in the walsh bathroom. As we are both science majors, we have spent many hours in De La Roche and Walsh, which is why we thought this would be the perfect location to place the notes! We used different colored sticky notes to draw more attention to them!

For this part of the final, Rose and I created a sun shape out of dandelions. We chose dandelions as they are bright and yellow like the sun. We chose to create a sun as the sun represents light and positivity. As we reflect on our time here at St. Bonaventure, we will remember the good (positive) times we’ve had here.

Rose and I decided to partner up for the remainder of the final. We made a large spiral out of rocks. We chose the spiral shape as it is simple, yet has a bigger meaning. As it is our last semester here, we wanted to focus on our time here at Bonas. Thus, the center of the spiral represents our time here at Bonaventure. Although we are getting further away from St. Bonaventure (further away from the spiral point), our lives will always revolve around our time here:)

This is my puppet, Ollie! He is made out of a sock. He likes to stop at Twist and Shake for a nice hot dog and play music in his free time!

This is my pupped named Cass! She just loves to dance. 💃🕺She enjoys listening to Maroon 5, hence her song choice. Cass also likes to chill at the pool with her friends which is why she had me film her there.

This puppet is very creative! Using pencils as arms and legs was a good idea!

For this part of the final, I decided to write the quote “You never fail until you stop trying.” I was limited to only white chalk so I had to do something to add color so I added flowers to the piece. I also made it a point to underline to words “never” and “stop” as together they say “never stop” which is another inspiring message I like!

Rose, Vivek, and I worked on the NYC Art World 1980 project together!

For the puppet, Rose and I worked together to create a scarecrow inspired puppet. We used graph paper for the base of everything. We used a water bottle for the body. We used dimes and a penny for the eyes and nose and tape to hold everything together!

For the surrealism project I made a pair of sandals out of a Blue Light box, these are great for the warm weather we are starting to have here is Allegany!

For this piece, I chose to create a bracelet out of old ribbon I found around my house. I tied gold, silver, and white ribbon around each other to fit my wrist!

For my Earth Art, I chose to create two triangles out of rocks! Triangles are a simple shape that symbolize connection, harmony, creativity, wisdom, and growth. In this piece, one triangle is pointing up, while the other is pointing down. When pointing up, triangles represent stability and power. However, when pointing down, triangles are said to represent instability. Thus, by creating art that has triangles pointing both up and down, this art can be interpreted to symbolize balance. In life, it is important to find a balance in everything you do!

I made my silhouette in a driveway made of rocks because I knew that I wanted to incorporate rocks into this piece and it made it easier to see the outline. I used a few leaves within this piece as well. I feel like my work is simple, and that represents me well because I feel that I’m a very simple person. I also used two sticks within this piece to represent my hair.

In the future, I envision phones to be huge, both physically and metaphorically. I believe technology, such as phones will become a huge part in our lives. Thus, I drew a bunch of spirals representing that humans in the future will be “hypnotized” (distracted) by phones, even more than today. I drew a person holding onto the phone representing that humans will be glued to their phones. Phones are already capable of so much nowadays, I can’t even imagine the advancements that will be made in the future. I feel like they will be used for absolutely everything in a humans life, thus why I drew a huge phone, because they will be such a big part of an average humans life in the future.

This drawing was inspired by Eva Heese’s third example in the PowerPoint. What stood out to me from that piece was the random splash of color surrounded by only black and white. So for my piece, I made my “splash of color” take up a larger area. For the background, I did a lot of random strokes, shapes, and scribbles. In the bottom left hand corner I tried to scribble my name in. I also went over some areas with my eraser as there was more blank space in Eva Hesse’s work so I wanted to fit that theme more.

For this homework, inspired by Dana O’Malley’s work, I wanted to focus on how I could bring bright colors together, only using trash. So for the background I used some tissue paper I found. Then on top of the tissue paper I have a blue ribbon and some bright candy wrappers I threw out. I wanted to arrange the wrappers in a shape that made everything seem connected so I purposely lined up the KitKat wrappers together and the starburst wrappers together.
