With Alice in Borderland coming up, I decided to rewatch both seasons again with some friends ( ╹▽╹ ) Big mistake.
Because what do you mean I reignited my obsession with Hatter and Aguni? And it's not even funny— my heart clenches at the thought of them now, and everything's just so gloomy all of a sudden.
What do you mean Aguni acted out of instinct, the second he saw Hatter, no, Takeru, point and shoot a gun at him, only to discover it didn't have any bullets in them, which meant he came into that old building, he came into that conversation armed as always, somewhat prepared to strike if need be, and Takeru catered to him, all bare and vulnerable?
What do you mean he'd been obviously mourning Takeru, the very second he'd told him his idea of building a paradise in the Borderlands, but suppressed it in favor of focusing to play along with Hatter's theatrics, which was his own way of fighting for and preserving their friendship, their old dynamic?
And WHAT DO YOU MEAN the second that Takeru dropped dead in front of him, because of him, he learned to mourn Hatter as well, because Hatter was Takeru, not in the way of "at the end of the day, it was still him" trope, but in a "it had always been him", and Aguni adored him still, because as shown, he was willing to change himself: his principles, his reservations, his own desires, and adapt, just to stay by his side.
There's obviously a lot more to say, but it's kinda hard to type with literal, genuine tears blurring my vision.
