St Jude 2026: Seafood Battle

“Don't go down without a fight! The seafood army is something we can take on!”

Artwork made for the art show that will happen during the St Jude and Puzzle Pirates collab stream on May 2 2026. It can be found at Tiltify or Jazzthepirate's Twitch.

The Mandarin text 虾兵蟹将 means "prawn soldiers and crab generals," an idiom for ineffectual minions.

Purpure's pose was taken from a pulp novel cover with a man and woman fighting off a sea of crabs.

Elder God's Reflection: Nataraja

"Why can't you just tell me if you're alive or dead?"

"Do you think the sea will give up its secrets that easily?" A rework of my previous artwork Elder God's Reflection. I felt that this particular piece needed an update, especially in showing its religious and mystical symbolism. Asheep and Noria

Two characters belonging to Ashydankestsin. Ashy just so happened to be in a Malaysian artists Discord and Noria piqued my interest. Asheep is the mascot of the artist in question. Noria's species looks ambiguous, but Ashy has stated Noria is a wolfgirl.

The artwork took me about 3 hours to complete, i.e. less than a day. I will keep up the pace.

Art Trade - Scharlotte Holzapfel

"Dear mother, I hope you are well..." Scharlotte Holzapfel spent all afternoon writing letters on behalf of her regiment, the 15th Line.

She laid down a plank so the letters wouldn't get grass stains.

This character belongs to Schpaghettizie1 on Twitter, and is an Unteroffizierin of the Eastern Prussian army. In Schpagetti's setting, it's not yet clearly made why women took the place of men in armed warfare, though I like their Gibson Girl inspired linework. Pose was referenced from Edwin Forbes' "News from Home".

Monkey Business

A white monkey got into Purpure's candy stash, and she's upset about it. Look at all the mess! Bethany is much more inclined to take the monkey as an apprentice instead. This picture was made for Spring Doodles in Puzzle Pirates' official Discord. I got an honourable mention alongside Cattrin and Wayfarer.

Art Trade - Fina de Montalhon

Art trade with Sofiartworks (Twitter/Bluesky) featuring her character Fina and some animal friends.

Probably the first time I've drawn rabbits or blue tits, the birdy kind, that is.

Herosmash: Cold Shoulder 1

“Why do we have to go to Alaska in the middle of winter? I want herbal soup!”

“Attie, once we help Demo with whatever Vespulo wants for the mechanical Pixiu, we'll order a hot pot in any flavour you want.”

The Lion Twins, Artisa and Atroxia, accompanied their cousin to the mysterious coordinates emailed to her phone. It took some time arranging for travel on such short notice, and by the time they got there, the polar nights had begun.

Modern day winter clothing is not a subject I am very familiar with, so this took me a little longer than expected.

One alternate title I name this piece is Lions in Winter. Those of you who knew me back when I was an Artix Entertainment player would get why I used this particular title.

For those who don't, I had started a fanon claim that Demolicious was the distant cousin of my player characters, the Lions, back when the game was in active development in 2011. Because the canon was very vague and the heroes were generally snubbed by the main player base, this claim never was contested.

Herosmash: Overture 4

“I want you to keep an eye on the superheroes, especially Demolicious.”

“Roger, sir.”

The army men in this image are Vespulo Vulgaras and an underling. Vespulo ordered the underling to keep watch on the superheroes.

While army men generally have very short hair, being Luohan bald is quite a statement.

I painted the camo patterns by hand with a wooly brush. They made passable patterns for a fictional army.

The speech bubble's contents were inspired by Tang Wen Xi's painterly sketches. My original sketch was to have the underling standing upright with binoculars instead of low crawling.

I rethought this when I remembered that actual military operatives would rather NOT be seen when on active duty.

Herosmash: Overture 3

Meanwhile, Luigi daVinci wasn't getting anywhere with the Malachite he had unearthed.

Despite the Malachite being the beating heart of all superpower, he couldn't make it bring his deceased brother back.

What could he do next?

In the original Herosmash game, daVinci and others in the supervillain faction lived in an actual underground city atop a magma vein. The map was badly lit so I presume daVinci's hideout would be similarly dim in most cases.

I thought the Malachite in game was a beating heart and sarira, hence its appearance in my artwork. The idea of a god's actual beating heart becoming a gemstone relic was one I latched onto back in 2011.

I intend to incorporate more mythological tropes in this series and reinterpretation of Herosmash.

Herosmash: Overture 2

Demolicious received an email from Vespulo Vulgaras, a weaponsmith and tycoon, with information on a mechanical superweapon and the coordinates to collect one of its required resources.

In the unpublished continuation, the author had adapted and changed several plot threads around to make them coherent. The mechanical monster is something I decided to add for my version of the story, as the actual game never progressed far enough to actually show the Dominator.

The monster is supposed to be a robotic Pixiu, but I clearly need more practice in depicting dragon-headed griffins.

“Azimoff, are you sure I should head to the Arctic to find clues on the Celestial Pixiu?”

“Yes. The Pixiu is a machine that can stop supervillains for good. If it falls into the wrong hands...”

“Got it, got it.”

Azimoff showed up the next time Demolicious headed to the skyscraper to muse on her lack of progress.

She made good on her oath to follow up on many things.

A continuation of Big City Solitude and potentially one of many digital paintings I would like to do to adapt the unpublished continuation of the game Herosmash.

Azimoff's design is fanmade. He never had an actual appearance in canon.

Waterborn Adept

“By the Emperor, how did she do that!”

A piece that depicts Sister Cecilia and Purpure in a crossover of sorts. Think of those superhero comic collabs or manga collabs in general.

While water-walking is associated with Jesus in the Western world, it's associated with immortals and supernatural critters in Chinese iconography. The glowing marks on Purpure are her innate mana shield which she honed, which is why she's able to shrug off most bullets. Being the Sea Heart's direct protege lent her a huge mana reserve, hence her lack of exertion.

Milu Riders: Joachim and Irondart

While the sun was high, Joachim sat down to rest with her faithful steed Irondart.

Joachim Ng is one of the folk heroes of the alternate New World, especially as an example of women in power. Here, she's petting Irondart, a particularly large member of the New World Milu herd.

A long time ago, Joachim's many-great-grandmothers fled turmoil in the old country after the collapse of the Tang, and ended up in the Northwest region of the New World. They would be familiar with tribal groups like the Salish, Chinook, and Haida.

I wish to develop this setting more as it shapes a lot of the social changes that make my New Weibermacht setting differ from our real world.

OC Takeover Week Day 7: Artist in the Attic

“Miss Jansen, wil je dat doekje aangeven alsjeblieft? Ik wil graag Edgar's arm schoonmaken voordat ik verder ga met de tattoo.”

Day 7 of OC Takeover Week 2026 on Bluesky. The prompts were body modification or friendship. Kimiko, or Kim as she prefers to be called, is almost a master in the art of tebori tattooing. The only person she'll regularly talk to is Flora Jansen, simply because Kim is more fluent in Dutch than English.

Kim keeps to herself so much that she's indirectly started a rumour about being a stowaway or hostage in an attic on Tristan Island. She tattooed Edgar's right arm after Louise urged him to get one to mark his coming of age. As Edgar doesn't understand Dutch or Japanese, he's left out of the loop here.

Although Kim's standing in such a way that her full appearance isn't seen, she wears a plain set of a truncated kosode, a pair of monpe, and kyahan with zori sandals and tabi socks. The hibiscus on her head was picked from Flora's potted plant just outside their shared shophouse.

OC Takeover Week Day 6: Forest Spar

Even while travelling or on breaks from religious duties, the nun would often seek training, and would spar with Walpurrgis in the hills and woodlands with safer wooden sticks.

Day 6 of OC Takeover Week 2026 on Bluesky and art trade with teulu_dewr as he's one of the very few members of New Weibermacht to post on multiple other sites rather than just Twitter alone.

The prompts for OC Takeover are combat or other people's OCs. His characters, the Nun and Walpurrgis, come from different backgrounds. While the Nun is from a convent in the Holy Roman Empire, Walpurrgis is an itinerant and adept bodyguard. The background art is by Mud_and_Blood on Twitter.

The pose is from the Nuremberg Codex about buckler duelling. Specifically, the lost pages of MS3227a.

OC Takeover Day 5: Primum Non Nocere

“Ichi, please check on the stocks of blood pressure pills and syringes for blood samples.” “Yes, Doctor Richardson.”

Day 5 of OC Takeover Week 2026 on Bluesky. The prompts were profession and undeveloped OC.

Doctor Susan Richardson and Ichi Florencebot aren't from the pirate story involving the Lotus Crew. They're from the eschatological superhuman story set in an alternate version of our modern day.

The main premise of the eschatological superhuman story is that a god's death led to sudden rapid increase in superhuman ability, but the death of the god was so sudden and violent that society as a whole is ill-prepared for the influx of near-divine people. Doctor Susan Richardson is able to diagnose ill people with one look, but it doesn't extend to mechanical beings like Ichi.

Ichi is the nexus of the healthcare-oriented variant of the Bonbots. The Bonbots, while initially programmed to act as bodyguards, have also achieved sentience thanks to their creators' efforts. Previous followers may recall that these two were mentioned in a Herosmash fanfic from long ago.

OC Takeover Day 4: Animal Love

“It's that season where macaws look for love, and Gris is no exception.”

Day 4 of OC Takeover Week 2026 on Bluesky. The prompts were animal and love.

Gris is Purpure's hyacinth macaw friend. He can't exactly ask his new date to go eat butter together, but he'd try, either way. It's usually the case that my pieces with animal buddies do better than the ones with just people alone, unless the people are doing something other than just sitting or standing around.
