I can’t believe I actually lived though the full transition from VHS to DVD. Like there are people alive who have never seen a VHS tape….I remember when we were still tryna figure out how the fuck they got a full movie onto a cd.
How old are you?
I’m 17 and the fact that my little brother uses iPads in elementary school while when I was in first grade getting announcements in color was exciting because in kindergarten they had been in black and white until the tv’s were replaced
I’m 19 and I remember how much I looked forward to visiting Blockbuster every other week when I was little, and the struggle of opening a VHS case but the VHS tape not being inside and having to look everywhere for it and open every other case just to be sure
I’m twenty one and I remember when phones got qwerty keyboards and Internet access.
I’m 25, I remember dialup sound and the first time I watched an embedded video after eating ten minutes for it to load.
25, I remember my parents had a printer the was fed paper from a box as one giant perforated piece, it was loud as hell and would take ages to print only black. And to download a 16 second sailor moon clip took at least 6 minutes. Anime music videos had a website where you had to download one to watch it.

I was biking down a rocky hill and it was the last leg of a roughly 30K bike ride, so I usually bike really fast up it to build momentum to coast down. I zoned out and snapped back right before my front wheel jammed into a rut in the ground. I remember thinking “So this is happening” right before I flipped completely over the handlebars, landed on my side, rolled a couple of times, then slid down the rest of the way on my right elbow. Luckily nothing was broken and my bike missed me when it landed (and the front wheel was easily readjusted). I dusted myself off, fixed my bike, slapped a bandage on my elbow, then continued on to finish the last 3K.

Because too many people have messaged me or reblogged this (without doing any research at all) saying, “it’s not real” or “it’s just a joke”:
HB494 is a bill that was passed in April of 2014. This bill amends the Parental Consent/Judicial By-Pass law, allowing the courts to appoint a fetus attorney during a Judicial By-Pass. This is a real thing that has been passed. Also, this law specifically targets minors, who, under the law, need permission from either their parents or the courts to have an abortion.
HB494 Sections (d) and (e):
(d) “The Legislature further finds the public policy of the State of Alabama is to respect life and provide safeguards to protect life in the criminal, health, and other laws of the State of Alabama; that in respecting and protecting life, there is included the unborn life of a child whose life may be subject to termination before birth by abortion and that when the mother of said unborn life is a minor who seeks an abortion through the judicial by-pass procedure, it is the interest of the State of Alabama to not only establish and protect the rights of the minor mother, but also to protect the state’s public policy to protect unborn life; the protection of these interests is done, in part, by requiring judges to make determinations pursuant to the judicial by-pass procedure and to require said judges be provided with sufficient evidence and information upon which they may make informed and proper decisions.”
(e) “Alabama judges are called upon to make decisions not only respecting the lives of born persons, such as in capital punishment cases, but also respecting the lives of unborn persons, such as in judicial by-pass cases for minor abortions; it is always the Legislature’s intent to provide guidance to the Alabama courts on how life may be best protected.”
Inb4 pro-lifers say this is equal, it’s not. By giving a fetus the “same” rights as the person carrying them, you are effectively telling the pregnant person that their body is no longer theirs, they cannot make decisions for themselves and their body without seeking permission from the fetus, which is literally impossible (seeing as fetuses are non-sentient beings.)
If it wasn’t obvious enough that this is an anti-choice bill, eagerly passed to make safe access to abortion harder for minors, actually read the entire thing. It’s filled with nonsensical, emotionally manipulative language, and all in all, it’s just garbage that looks like it was written up by a high school pro-life group. How this got passed…. I’ll never know. - Paige
Dollar Store pregnancy tests are as sensitive, or even more sensitive than the brand name strips
A few tests can quantify as low as 15miu, while others require no less than 50 to get a positive. This diagram shows regular brands and their sensitivity It would appear, the Dollar store brand midstream and mini-strip can identify as low as 20 miu, while a percentage of the more extravagant brands require 40-50miu.
In the event that you are anything like my wife, when attempting to get pregnant, you will test 2-3 times each day, consistently amid the ideal time. I knew I would go broke purchasing those two packs of first response or ept for $18, so I went to Dollar store and purchased 20 tests. They really keep them close to the cashier - evidently individuals take these things.
The Dollar store brand got positives when the first response did not. Blood tests at the specialist later affirmed the pregnancy. I did spend $20 on those advanced ones that have the readout that says “pregnant” - she needed that as a keepsake.

this is 100% accurate. i work in the medical field and the pregnancy tests they give you there work just as well as the dollar store ones. it’s just that they are sold at the dollar store for a dollar because it is a no name brand. brands are charging you more for the name and not it’s actual effectiveness, jsyk.
