lakeside picnic || ava&isaac
isaac almost choked at her even slightly risque question. “i, uhm.. suppose your company. maybe a cheeky few kisses wouldn’t hurt either.” he added, a smirk playing on his lips- masking how shook he was. the poor boy, isaac could usually be hundreds of times more vulgar and raunchy; but when it came to someone he liked on an emotional level; he suddenly felt like the mention of kissing was practically third base. “fiery passion- i think i’ll put that in my twitter bio, i quite like that.” he chuckled. isaac shook his head at the mention of him being a good king. “but ava- what change can a king make when their sole purpose is to be a publicity stunt for their country? i think i could make a bigger difference if i could leave the crown and become a real humanitarian. seriously considering making up a paternity scandal about myself just so adelaide can take the responsibility instead.” the boy said half-jokingly. there was many occasion where he wished that adelaide had been born first, so that he could just be the prince- not in line for the throne. he could go off and live his own life that way. he wouldn’t have to even think about giving everything up to be apart of an organization that he felt was entirely corrupt. isaac laughed when she stumbled into him, wrapping his arms around her to hold her steady. “careful there, princess.” he chuckled, looking down at her with a beam across his face. “i don’t believe in lost causes- there’s always potential in everything.” he explained. isaac placed one hand on ava’s shoulder and held her hand with the other-”okay now you put your free hand on my hip.” he guided. “oh stop it you.” isaac replied sarcastically with a roll of his eyes- he had a slight problem with just accepting a compliment instead of brushing it off. “hey- that’s not fair. i’m basically the twenty first century version of allen ginsberg. you’ve caught me in an off moment where i’m feeling a bit flustered by this amazing and beautiful girl in front of me.” he smirked, reaching his hand out to brush a piece of her hair back. “i’ll write you something beautiful when i’m not so awestruck.”
“please don’t choke, i told you i slept through first aid class, unless of course this is a ruse to get me to kiss you, but i don’t think you give cpr to someone who’s choking...”ava said jokingly, but slowly confusing herself.”lucky you i believe i have some kisses to spare.” she said against his lip, laughing and leaning back on her palms before she could close the space between them. ava had no idea where this behaviour was coming from, but then again she had never felt anything for the princes and lords she had met before, not like this anyways. perhaps she was a little doe, but she sure had her moments of boldness, a secret lioness. “am i that inspiration as to where you would quote me in your twitter bio? this is an honor higher that becoming queen.” she said with a half smile, casting her eyes to the water and pondering his words. “i truly don’t know what to tell you except that whatever you do i’m sure you’ll be wonderful at it.” she said with an honest smile. “a paternity scandal? isaac-- please.” ava said, bursting into laughter. “i suppose i understand what you’re saying. i would give anything to have a brother as the firstborn.” she trailed off, looking anywhere but into his eyes. she sent him a playful glare upon hearing his laughter but none the less thanked him for catching her, as he always did. if he didn’t want to be king he could always take that up as a job. “merci.” she said, rolling her eyes. “that was quite cheesy, what teenage rmance book did you read that from?” she jested, a smile finding it’s way to her lips. in all honesty she liked what he’d said, she thought it was sweet, cheesy obviously, but very sweet which seemed to be an embodiement of isaac, and ava liked that. ava put her hands where she was commanded to. this was all somewhat familiar to her from the few dance lessons she couldn’t escape, although she figured she’d like this lesson a little more. ava’s cheeks tingeged bright red at his words, he’d said he was flustered and called her beautiful, words she was not familiar hearing from a man. “i-- you--you should get back to me on that.” she said a bit flustered herself. “it seems i’ve lost my ability to speak.” she mumbled embarassed, hiding her tinted cheeks in his chest.
lakeside picnic || ava&isaac
“i would gladly take that job,” isaac chuckled, “although salary depending, of course.” he added jokingly- sending a small wink in ava’s direction. “well it is now, don’t question it. a crown is just some pretty accessory- it doesn’t mean anything. actually, none of it does. the monarchy is so pointless. it’s just a glorified tourist attraction- none of us have any real power, not that i think we should. but really it’s about time all of our titles are stripped and we stop wasting taxpayer money because really what did we do to deserve these riches and fame? nothing. we’re apart of a corrupt class system and frankly- it’s inconvenient to be royal. i could get so much more work done in activism if my title wasn’t scaring people away the whole time- thinking that i’m just doing it for publicity.” isaac went off on a ramble without realizing, he was shaking his head and throwing up his hands throughout the rant in frustration at the topic. he really hated royalty. “we could start now.” isaac beamed, jumping up and reaching out his hand to help her up. “the waltz is pretty easy to get, promise.” he sang, grinning ear to ear at the prospect of dancing. isaac decided not to press the topic of water any further as it seamed to be pretty heavy for ava, “i get you.” he nodded with a small smile. he had pulled back from the kiss but his hands were still draped around her neck, holding her close. he felt giddy at her words, impulse taking over he leaned in to ava again and kissed her cheek before coming back to look into her eyes. he felt heat rise to his cheeks where she brushed her thumb against them. “that’s really good to hear.” isaac’s voice was still hushed, scared that if he spoke too loudly he’d ruin the moment. “i’m… i’m really glad we came out here tonight. i really love spending time with you ava. i know i sound like such a cheesy cringy dickhead but yeah- you’re a pretty cool girl and i think i’s pretty cool how you’re down to spend time with me.”
“would you?” ava mused, a silly grin crossing her lips. “salary? well, seeing as you have much money, im sure that’s not what you need. so what payment do you require?” the girl said uncharacteristically bold, lifting a suggestive eyebrow. “hmm.” ava hummed, hearing his response. she couldn’t have agreed more but she wasn’t sure how to put it into her own words without revealing her own fear of the crown. the wretchet piece of metal, that like isaac said, was only an accessory, she was only an accessory and she knew it to. despite all of this she couldn’t help the corner of her lip turning upward to form a half smirk. “you have this-- this fiery passion that dwells inside you. despite your , rightful, resentment of the crown, i think you’d be a wonderful king. you’d make a difference.” she said, her eyes observing him and a smile finding it’s way to her face. “ready when you are.” she replied, taking his hand and allowing him to help her up although her quick movement causing her to stumble into his chest. “you sure about that? i mayb or may not be a lost cause.” she says glancing up at him through her lashes, not having moved from where she stood. she smiled, relieved he had not pressed the subject. “for that i am grateful.” she said simply, but with a lot more emotion behind her words. in place of words, she just gave isaac a smile conveying what she felt, her thumb continuing to gaze his reddening cheek, her other hand moving to her own where she could still feel te tingles from his lips. she giggled at their hushed tones, it was almost as if they were young campers sneaking out and not the adult counselors they are. “i’m glad we came hear too, you’re pretty wonderful company yourself.” she said. her loud laugh contrasted with the silent intimacy of the moment. “you are not a dick head, but nor are you a poet apparently, ‘pretty cool girl?’” ava continues her giggling.
“you almost got that description right. i tell stories, we bicker, we fight, i win… sometimes,” he retorted, glaring at her for punching him. “you couldn’t use your ‘huge imagination’ to help a friend out? and i’m not upset, only surprised that you all couldn’t tell a good ghost story if it hit you in the face. hmm, i’m okay with mutual rudeness, at least you know you’re rude. whatever, ava, i wasn’t going to fight you back, so of course you won,” he countered, rolling his eyes. “sorry, i’m terrible with accents,” he smiled, innocently.
ava snorted in amusement. “you win? mhm. name one time that you’ve won.” ava returned his glare with a grin. “no nathan, i saw that story as something you needed to pursue on your own. i’m not rude! yeah, or because you knew you’d loose!” she exclaimed childishly. “and story telling.” she added with a grin of her own.
“I forgot how climate and timezone change work. Though, I did enjoy being back home for a while.”
“Auggie, you’re back! For a while i believed the ghosts had gotten you.”

“personal bodyguard of the irish princess- think i like that title more than ‘ prince isaac; the most un-royalist royal that france ever had ’.” he laughed, bumping his shoulder back against hers in retaliation. isaac furrowed his eyebrows slightly. “don’t be silly- you seem like a natural, you just have to learn how to move.” he nodded, an idea suddenly popping into his head. “you know, my parents did force me to take dance classes for four years- of course i hated it but that’s besides the point-” that was a small lie, isaac did enjoy dance; he just hated the rules and the formality of the classes. he didn’t want to be stuck in an endless loop of traditional dances, he wanted to move to the music freely. something his dance instructors were highly against. “-in those four years i perfected my waltz; i could teach you, if you like?” he offered, a grin spreading across his face. “are you scared of water?” isaac said playfully, but he knew he’d stop teasing immediately if ava had a genuine fear. “sure- i’ve been bungee jumping loads before, any activity where the possibility of death is a factor; i’ve probably done it.” he joked, but not even isaac’s fascination with extreme sports could hold his attention when ava said yes. truthfully, he was expecting to be outright turned down. he slowly moved in closer, touching his forehead against hers before he pressed their lips together while placing both hands behind her head. this kiss- it was finally a real kiss between them. it wasn’t because of a silly party game or anything of the sort; it was finally in the moment and real. it was perfect to isaac, and he felt more than reluctant to pull back from it. “i really like you.” he whispered sheepishly, a light blush crawling onto his cheeks as he felt like a schoolboy who had just admitted his first crush.
“i think i like that too, then it’ll be your job to hang out with me.” ava said, teasingly bumping his arm. “well, firstly, i’m not sure un-royal is a word, but you seem pretty loyal to me. you’ve even got the crown to prove it.” she jested. “yes, bopping my head around whilst shakig my hips, i guess you could call me a pro.” she chuckled, shaking her head at his insinuation that she could dance in any way shape or form. “dance classes? psh. my mother tried. i don’t think i’ve ever ran away so fast. i ran from dance lessons, i ran even faster from princes at balls wanting to dance.” she said with a solemn smile, recalling her mother. this often happened when ava talked about her mother, even when thinking of a happy memory, which they predominantly were. She shook her head, blonde curls flying everywhere, as if shaking off the nostalgia. “well you’re quite the master of all trades. but yes, i’d really enjoy that. with you as my teacher, we could go pro, i’m talking dancing with the stars my dear.” she said animatedly, a whimsical smile finding its way on her lips. the smile left her freckled face, her rose-bud shaped lips settled in a line as she turned her eyes to look towards the small fire, the flames dancing in her blue hues. “something like that.” she wasn’t scared of water, she was scarred by it, peterified by it, not exactly something you share on the first date. ava was distracted from her emotions by isaacs lips. it’s amazing how this boy could even make her forget her problems with just a touch. she set her dainty hands on his face. ava had always had a difficult time telling her imagination from reaity, but from the way she felt it was blatanly clear that this was real, he was real. “i really like you to, i have since we met in paris.” she replies in a whisper. a rosey blush reaching her face, matching his. her hands had yet to leave his face so she stroked her thumb against his cheek, smiling at him
Hey guys I'm so sorry my activity has been absolutely horrendous! I haven't been home in 2 weeks and I don't go home until tomorrow night, but when I do I promise I'll be on more <3
“thank you for finally admitting to it, ava. we should be able to move on in our friendship, now,” he stated with a wry smile. “um, first of all, jimmy jones is very scary: you just can’t see it, because you refuse to pretend. and second of all, adelaide is afraid of all ghosts. sometimes you are just so rude to me — it hurts my feelings,” he responded playfully, exaggerating his frown. “what? i thought you had a scottish accent, ava?” he smirked.
“whatever nathan. so this is our friendship? you tell stories, we bicker, we fight, i win? i think i can live with that.” ava replied, playfully punching his arm. “tes nathan, of course, jimmy jones is terrifying. i have a huge imagination! you’re just upset your story didn’t make the cut. i am not rude, if anything it’s mutual. the only thing that should hurt is your ego from me beating you in that fight.” ava fired back. “you must be really looking for a bone to pick kid.”
‘ it’s just so… warm here. i’m too nordic for this climate. ’ elsa laughs lightly. she misses home but also dreads returning; knowing every sidewalk and every face is going to remind her of addiction.
“warm? it’s sweltering elsa!” the girl exclaimed. ava thinks back to ireland, the breeze, the pastures, she missed it, truly. “i don’t really think of it, i’m tring to focus on my time here.”
lakeside picnic || ava&isaac
“okay, ava- lets not judge me and my cluelessness of fireworks too harshly.” isaac shook his head. a chuckle escaped his lips as ava gestured to herself as the merchandise. “oh not to worry, i’d never let that happen.” isaac smirked. his eyes lit up as the sparkler flared- he found the sparks fascinating and seeing ava become giddy as it burned made him feel giddy too and he couldn’t help but laugh with her as she spun around. “you’re a brilliant dancer, you know.” he grinned, taking the burnt out sparkler from her to put it in a plastic bag he’d brought for rubbish- no littering on his watch. “what?” isaac raised his eyebrows, “how could you not? it’s such a rush- it’s exhilarating.” he exclaimed, not being able to comprehend how not everyone was as much of an adrenaline junkie as he was. the boy grinned, “i’m glad you like them.” he nodded sincerely, taking one for himself. “i would.” isaac repeated with a small smile. now taking notice of his hand on her cheek and their hushed voices, isaac’s eyes flickered down onto ava’s lips momentarily before quickly coming back to meet her eyes. he couldn’t be rude and just kiss her out of nowhere again like last time, he thought. “princess ava, if i may have the honour- i’d like to kiss you now… if that’s okay with you.” isaac whispered, a smile playing on his own lips. “well, if it’s any consolation- i think you’re an amazing girl with a very bright future ahead of her. i think you’ll do great things, ava.”
“no judgment here, just trying to give you a few pointers thas’all.” ava replied, with a small wink. she couldn’t help the laugh that escaped from her smiling lips. “aren’t i lucky, my own personal bodyguard.” ava jested, bumbping his shoulder with her own. ava’s excitement simmered down as the sparkler burnt out, but a smile still remained in her face, as usual. hearing his coment ava gave isaac a playful glare while looking at him from over her shoulder. “i like to think that i am, but i’m quite awful at it. you know me, i have enough trouble standing let alone moving rhythmically to music while syncing my movements to someone elses.” she sighed, over explaining. dancing was one of the things she always enjoyed, even if it wasn’t her forte. more often than not ava could be found with headphones in or a stereo playing, bopping around her room. “it just seems petrifying, even worse if it was over water.” ava replied with a subtle cringe as she mentioned her greatest fear, large bodies of water. “have you done anything like that before?” ava asked, eyebrow raised in genuine curiosity. “mhm.” she replied, biting into the sandwich. ava had long abandoned the sandwich when isaac’s hand had met her face. her blue hues following his as he looked down to her lips. ava chewed on her bottom lip, her eyes flipping between his lips and his beautiful eyes. she looked up at him, wondering what would come next. ava could feel her face grow warm,perhaps from their proximity and his hand on her cheek. upon hearing his question. “i think that would be okay.” she whispered with a shy smile. something about isaac had ava in a constant state of blushing and errupting with butterflies and she didn’t know what it was, but she certainly didn’t mind it. “we’ll see.” she replied pensively. what she didn’t want to tell him is that she feared her future, specifically, the crown.
“There were those nights when you get home and there’s no one to call. And there’s no vodka left to drink. And you got nothing on TV from those stupid infomercials. And you’re stuck with yourself. And that’s what they mean when they say the word terror. Because all I wanted was to be wrapped up in somebody’s arms. Anybody’s arms. Even stranger’s. I hate… I hate being alone. But when I am, I look into the mirror and I tell myself something that Audrey Hepburn once said…” - She’s Funny That Way (2015)
‘ i plan not to. i’m going to focus on having a nice summer. ’ elsa nods, mustering the best smile she can. ‘ except the homesickness is setting in… ’ the girl winces.
“as you should.” ava replied with a gentle smile. “i can undestand, i miss ireland heaps.” what ava actually meant by that is she missed her home, her country, but not her responsibilities.
lakeside picnic || ava&isaac
“i think i vaguely remember how to work them.” isaac pursed his lips as he took one of the sparklers out of the packet to inspect it. he took out his lighter from his pocket before handing the sparkler to ava, “here- you hold it i’ll try and light it.” he grinned as he flicked open his lighter. “true- human nature’s kind of messed up that way. like, life would be so much nicer if we could get the same rush we get from bungee jumping off a mountain by walking out the front door. speaking of bungee jumping off mountains- that sounds fun.” the boy chuckled, shaking his head. he laughed again as ava drank straight from the bottle, once she was done he took the bottle from her hands and did the same- “aren’t we just living on the edge.” isaac joked. “you should be honoured- i wouldn’t eat charred crisps for just anyone. and hey! these sandwiches are probably the best food i’ve ever made in my life.” he playfully frowned at ava, “oh but i’d be so heartbroken if i didn’t have you by my side this summer.” isaac drawled, although what he was saying did have some truth to it; admittedly he wouldn’t be nearly as happy to be at camp crown if ava weren’t there- it almost made his parents forcing him to attend okay. “oh, stop it you.” he replied with a sarcastic tone, playfully nudging ava’s shoulder. he couldn’t help but blush slightly at her words as the butterflies grew in his stomach. he brought his hand up to gently brush a piece of her hair back behind her ear. “thank you.” isaac said, his voice coming out hushed and quiet. “you let people think that? so… does that mean you aren’t?”
“well i’d hope so, it’s not too difficult, you just light them.” she said with a laugh, gratefully accepting the sparkler with a smile. “okay, okay, but please let’s not burn the merchandise.” ava said, teasingly gesturing to herself. she held the end of the sparkler towards the flame letting out an elated giggle as it began sparking. “isaac look, it’s so wonderful!” she exclaimed, entranced by the small sparks. the girl’s smile was illuminated as she spun around, holding the sparkler close to her. As the sparkler went out, she puted to herself, reclaiming her seat next to isaac. “you can call it living on the edge, or whatever you’d like but i wouldn’t bungee jump of anything, over my dead body.” she retorted. “well then, i’m very honored. and these sandwhiches--” she paused taking a bite out of hers “, are delicious.” ava replied with a grin. “sure you would be.” she joked, rolling her eyes, secretly hoping there was truth to his words. In her case, there certainly was. of course ava had adelaide at camp, but she really had missed isaac all of these years, and after everythng that had happened back in ireland, ava was glad for the time they spent together, it helped to take her mind off of things. as she realized what she said, ava too grew red. upon feeling isaac’s had on her face, she released a small smile, casting her eyes down to the blanket they were sitting on. “always.” she replied in an equally hushed tone. “no, not really. not for my own sake.”
“pretending can be very useful in creating a realistic story. i only chose the wrong person to help me out,“ he said, tossing a glare at ava. “no matter how much adelaide says she was scared because of the alcohol, we all know she’s scared of ghosts and of admitting the truth. greer’s story wasn’t better; she’s just better at telling stories. she also had claude and the element of surprise. i could get more lawyers than you could! hmm, while i fear for my life, i do want to see a real ghost, so you wouldn’t even need to force me to scotland.”
“okay nathan, whatever, i ruined your dumb story, fine.” ava said, exaggeratedly waving her arms around. “how could she possibly be scared of your ghost though? you might have a point there, about your lack of story telling abilities. but it’s okay, i’m sure there’s a class for that.” she replied with an innocent smile. i bet you you’re wrong! i am not from scotland you ninny! i’m irish!”
rory couldn’t help the amused smile spreading across her face at the blonde’s words. “don’t worry about it, the amount of times those kids keep asking me if i’ve ever met the loch ness monster is about just as annoying.”
ava turned, slightly embarassed by her outburst when she noticed the redheaded girl. “they got to you too? they’re monsters these kids i’m telling you. and these sterotypes? don’t get me started.”
