Some Lustdance ! (Uh... The shipname is currently "Tango" but I like to name it "Lance" Huhu)
Zu how close would you say Dream, nightmare, killer and cross are in terms of relationship (there bound as brothers, friendship, and a family after aim was born)?
Cross — Dream: the pregnancy was stressful for Cross and therefore it wasn't so smooth between them, but after Aim's birth everything's back to normal: despite the chores with the baby and sleepless nights due to regular feeding, Cross is truly happy with his first child and his family (perhaps even overcaring in some ways). This, in turn, makes Dream happy too.
Dream — Nightmare: even before Aim's birth, Dream tried to strengthen their relationship after centuries of discord, trying to achieve erstwhile warmth: despite reconciliation, they're not that close anymore. Besides, Dream has his own family now (and Cross has hinted more than once that Nightmare is a third wheel), but Dream doesn't want his brother to feel left out, he just can't leave him alone again. Dream wanted to unite them all, he wanted Nightmare to have someone to care about and to change for.
Nightmare — Cross: their relationship is still strained because of the past, but Cross no longer acts as aggressive & protective as he used to (especially when it comes to Aim: he's afraid that Nightmare will find out the truth about him being the "mother" and lose any respect to him). Nightmare, meanwhile, disapproves of Cross in many ways too, but seeing how happy Dream is with him and knowing what they had to go through together, he resigns himself.
Cross — Killer: they were hardly "bosom friends" back then and now that Killer rarely visits them too. Cross had reasons to worry about Aim because of Killer's nature, but now that Killer is no longer under the negative influence, he's more calm about him. Cross believes Killer is better off without Nightmare.
Killer — Nightmare: Nightmare's attitude towards Killer deteriorated after [REDACTED], though deep down he understands that Killer had all the rights. He believes that Killer shouldn't appear here—let alone meet with Aim—and condemns such "visits". Killer understands he provokes Nightmare but wants to show they're always important to him. Despite hating his "souvenirs", Nightmare keeps the moon brooch.
Dream — Killer: Dream knows about Nightmare's attitude towards Killer and doesn't bring this topic up, but he's always happy to see Killer is their house and encourages his rehabilitation. Despite their "skirmishes" in the past, Dream is deeply grateful to him for being the only one from the gang who stayed with Nightmare and helped him with the recovery. He guesses why Killer did it in the first place and hope he and Nightmare can reconcile someday.

Ohh now things are getting more interesting!~ Let me introduce you to Blue. He is the first coast monster that I’m posting.
Blue is the closest friend to Dream and helping him by giving him advices how he could be a better ruler.
He is social and spends most of his time either with Dream or swimming around to see if anyone needs help or close to the coast. He likes being admired by the humans and normal monsters at the coasts. Blue really enjoys being the mystical creature people point their finger at and gasp in awe when he is simply sitting on a rock not too far away from a beach before gracefully jumping back into the water again.
He isn’t a good fighter. Blue really doesn’t have anything to defend himself besides tiny claws and fangs (which is actually really uncommon for coast monster to have).
___ Well now I think it’s clear what I meant by “different species” in my last posts because coast monsters don’t have a tail. They still have legs with lots of fins. They aren’t fast swimmers compared to the deep sea monsters and another thing is that coast monsters aren’t able to breath underwater. From time to time they need to swim to the surface to breath but that’s normally no problem since they’re living not too deep down in the water.
Coast monster are also the species more known to the humans and monsters living on the surface and they generally enjoy contact to them, while deep sea monsters don’t really care about the other world.
Cross! :3
I had no idea if I wanted Cross to be a deep sea or a coast monster. I liked both ideas and then I thought that maybe if I design them I can see what I like more… but after sketching I still loved both haha! So that didn’t really help.
In the end I chose the deep sea version. I wanted a fishie with a split tail and he was perfect for that.
If I’m honest, I completely neglected him. I haven’t really thought about his part in the story yet.. I have a few ideas but nothing is completely thought through.
To his design: His tail is split in the middle and ends in two tails, connected in one fin but it doesn’t affect his ability to swim.
When I was designing him I got inspired by betta fishes. I love the long fins they have and so I tried to draw something like that for his tail. The “fluff” around his neck is also similar to a fin. It’s connected to his collar bones, shoulder blades and the spine. It’s flat, since I wanted it to be more like a fin and not like a fluff, and if Cross would ever be in a situation, where he is not underwater, it would flap down and look more like cape.
One of my favorite details about his design are the little spike-fins on the side of his head!! It just makes him look so much cuter than without!
@darinacookie Yes you can :3
So here is my Ink! He has a really important role in my story that sadly I’m not going to spoil just yet. What I’m going to say though is that he is not like the others and is not following the rules that I made for the deep sea and coast monsters. ___ To his design:
Oh boy.. I could talk about it all day. I changed and redesigned him 8 times in total until I was happy with him.
So you notice that Ink is currently not feeling any emotions and because of that certain parts of his body are white or translucent. If he would feel an emotion the upper part of his tail, the fins to the side of his head, his eyes and the uhh the squid tentacle thingies would change into the color of the emotion.
He is not the one in control over what emotion he is going to feel and it could end badly for everyone involved if Ink gets the wrong emotion at the wrong time or maybe even a wrong dose of it.
Another thing that is special is that he is wearing clothes. He has the tail and mind of a deep sea monster yet has to stay lives near the coast. Because of that he was forced to follow the dress code that the coast monsters have.
___ I also thought would be interesting to show is my last design sheet because of the different views of the tail :3
OKAY! After one and a half years of procrastinating and being scared I want to finally draw and show all the characters I made.
So this is how Reaper looks in my AU :3
He is the oldest of them all. When he was younger he lived down in the deep ocean and was pretty feared by other deep sea monsters as well as the coast monsters (The enemies to the deep sea monsters). He was aggressive and hunted after everyone. However the older he got the more he calmed down and after Nightmare took the deep sea over, he left and now lives alone in the ocean. He became something like a legend, where he is called “The death of the sea”. Some monsters still fear that he will return.
Most of the times he just sleeps and eats and enjoys that he is not involved in anything that is going on. Well he was doing that until one day when he met someone. ___ To his design:
His tail “fin” is made out of metal and heavy. Because of that he is a slow swimmer and gets exhausted after swimming for a while. He normally stays in one area and doesn’t explore much.
He can eat everything. From fish to meat, seaweed and corals…. rocks..
In fights Reaper uses his tail. His tail is really flexible and because of the metal blade at the end he normally doesn’t use his teeth or claws to hurt others. To maintain the blade he needs to sharpen it.
There is sparkly boy!! :D
I don’t really feel like writing his whole backstory right now but I still want to show him. Error lives with Nightmare and is currently one of the strongest. He doesn’t really take the on going war serious. He just fights because he wants to fight. However his motivations are going to change the more the story progresses.
Since Error is my favorite *cough no one is surprised cough* this story/au is going to be a lot about him and I can already tell you that there are a few things going to happen to the little glitterfishie haha
To his design: He was the first one I designed, even before I though about a story.
His tail is slimmer than most others and he is a fast swimmer. Some of his scales can illuminate and also reflect light. I was thinking about him swimming in the deep sea where it’s dark and some parts of him lighting up independently from the others and it could seem like his “glitches” but they are just blinking and flickering scales.
There we have Nightmare, the King of the Sea.
He once was a coast monster, living with his brother in the more shallow waters. At that time there wasn’t much tension between the two species. Of course back then the coast monsters already thought of themselves as the ones who should be in control. There was no real ruler in the deep sea. Every monster lived and hunted for themselves, so it was easy for Dream and his brother to be in control. However neither of them really “ruled” over anything. There was no need for that. Most of the coast monster simply did what Dream told them or acted after what they thought would be the right thing.
One day Nightmare left the coast for the first time, swimming out into the ocean. What followed was darkness.
Something changed.
From that day forward Nightmare decided he had enough of being only the second prince. Now he will be known as the King of the Sea.
Soon monsters deep in the sea started to follow him and what he said. Some did it because they respected him, some because they had no choice and some out of fear.
___
Error and Nightmare are soul bonded in this AU and he is the only monster Nightmare enjoys fighting together with and respects to some level.
To his design: He is an eel-like creature. His body and tail is covered in black goop that is toxic to the touch. Nightmare has different attacks. From simple clawing and biting to strangling. He also has two other attacks that I’m not going to reveal just yet. Overall he is easily the strongest monster and that is probably the reason why he was able to build up his kingdom the way he did.
___
I didn’t draw him as an octopus since a lot of people have already done that. I also have my own story for him and it wouldn’t make sense for him to be half octopus.
And I’m planning to draw his full backstory but one thing at a time.. First I need to draw every character that is needed for my story so I can finally start telling it to you

(SFW, Angst, Fluff, Blood)
The small, pleased chirrups that kept leaving Cross' throat were muffled by the fish in his mouth. He had his teeth firmly sunken in and he had never been prouder of himself. He'd left his knife back at the grotto for the first time and was now dragging back a net full of small fish. The thing he'd that had caught him once before was now helping him. His hands were dripping in blood and he was stained all the way up to his arms and he was struggling to retain his sanity at the hearty scent in his throat. He'd had a successful hunt. VERY successful.
Of course, while it had been successful, that didn't mean it hadn't been messy. He knew he looked like he'd painted himself red around his arms and face, but he was far too proud of himself to care. The blood was streaming down the front of his ribcage and he couldn't be happier. Was this what the others had meant when they told him to hunt like a real shark-mer? No knife and just bare-clawed and bare-toothed? He flicked his tail to propel him forward faster, eager to know. Would they be proud of him??
He saw the edge of the chasm and while it normally filled him with some small sense of dread, he was tingling with excitement. He dipped right over and started straight down towards where he could see the faint lights below. He swam a little faster. Already, he could see a bit of light coming up towards him, this one a gold compared to the white and blue deep below. He felt warmth in his chest before he felt warmth in the water as Dream met him halfway, pausing. The goldfish-mer seemed startled by Cross' appearance before breaking out in a soft bit of laughter that reminded Cross of surface bells.
"Oh dear. Cross, I've never seen you so messy." He smiled as Cross could only let out a muffled apology through the fish in his mouth. Dream giggled and moved up, gently bumping their foreheads together as he sank his teeth into the other side of the fish in Cross' mouth. Their teeth tapped and Dream let out another muffled bit of laughter as Cross went bright purple. THAT had certainly snapped him out of the slight blood haze he was in. Dream pulled a chunk of the fish back, holding a gloved hand over his mouth as he chewed quietly.
His eyes became stars for a moment. "Cross, would you share that one with me?" He said once he'd swallowed. Cross' eyelights were blown wide and he nodded. The blood was even stronger now that a chunk of the fish was missing. He was brought back as he felt Dream's warmth press into his side and the goldfish-mer accompanied him down into the deep. They finally started reaching the small, crystal-lit areas leading to the grotto. "Night should be waking up from his nap. He will surely be pleased to see what you've caught... though..."
Cross blinked and glanced at Dream uncertainly as the other paused. "I suppose he won't be too thrilled about your messy state. He will groom you once you're finished eating." Cross seemed even more tense from that. "I know Night hasn't groomed you yet, but I can assure you that he is careful and diligent." Dream said comfortingly. Cross relaxed a bit. He trusted Dream, so if the other said Nightmare wouldn't hurt him, he would believe it. Thinking back, Cross had no doubt that Nightmare had an excellent handle on his size and strength. If anything, Cross wasn't afraid, he was just... nervous.
He blinked as the lights beneath him shifted. He watched as the bioluminescent spots that trailed Nightmare's tentacles began to move. As both of them crossed into the grotto, there was a loud grumble from the cave next to it, where Nightmare had been resting. Dream giggled softly. Horror had had his head perked even before Cross had come in, having scented the blood from miles away. Killer was tangled with Dust in one of the seaweed beds, both of them having been napping together.
They began to stir as the scent of freshly killed prey began to fill the grotto. In the cave, there was another grumble, louder this time. Cross watched as one of Nightmare's hands gripped the outer entrance of the cave and the rest of his massive body followed, illuminating the small area in cyan from his eye alone. The second he saw Cross, his eyelight softened, but his face twisted in disapproval. Dream giggled. "See? Night doesn't like when any of you are dirty." The krakken seemed to overlook it for now, huffing quietly and turning away.
Cross had been so focused on Nightmare, that it genuinely startled him when he felt the net of fish be tugged. He jumped and looked down to meet Horror's gaze, the Great White having a single claw hooked into the net. He was hungry, eye wide and already drooling. Cross nodded and let go of the net, Horror snatching it up and immediately darting over to Killer and Dust, depositing the bounty between them. He watched as each of them dug through the catch, pulling out what they wanted before returning the rest to Cross.
Nightmare had laid down again, his body curled around the clearing. He was still watching Cross and the thresher was well aware. "Oh, you are so getting a bath after we eat." Dream giggled, settling next to Cross. Cross seemed confused, but anything he said was muffled through the fish. Dream smiled and leaned up, taking another bite from the fish. Their teeth brushed together once more and Cross flushed again. He finally put the fish down and Dream smiled, watching Cross split it apart with his claws. He thanked Cross with a dip of his head as he was given his portion.
He began to eat, pressed up against Cross' side. Cross jumped as there was movement, but Killer had already settled to his other side, Horror and Dust coming over to complete the circle. "Night's not happy with your appearance, Crossy." Killer purred between bites. Cross mumbled that he'd heard. He took careful bites of his fish. He was always so careful not to eat too much. Too much food would make him lethargic and how would he protect them if he was lethargic? He could already see Dust slowing down, despite it only being his second fish.
Cross finished the first and began to pull back before Dream pushed a second fish at him. He opened his mouth to protest, but he faltered upon meeting Dream's excited gaze. The other was proud of him. He was weak to that. He was so weak to that and he risked a glance at everyone else. Dust was already slumped against Horror. Cross felt himself tremble a little. The other three shark-mers all kept glancing up at Cross with the same warmth. Cross' tail flicked around quietly and he ducked his head, a little too flustered to look at any of them directly. He finished his second fish, politely refusing a third.
He gave a small stretch, only to jump again as Nightmare's voice made the grotto rumble. "Cross." The thresher shivered and poked his head up from the now-smiling group of mers. Nightmare's glowing eye was fixed right on him. "Are you finished with your meal?" Cross gulped and gave a quiet nod. He only realized he was trembling once Killer pressed comfortingly against his side. He forced himself to relax. Nightmare, as massive and terrifying as he was... would not hurt him. Nightmare pushed himself up and stretched out a hand to Cross. "Come here please."
Cross was frozen for a moment, staring at Nightmare's pitch-black phalanges. They were illuminated in cyan and it made the offered hand look almost... comforting. Inviting, even. With a small swish of his tail, he pushed himself up and over the others, heading over. He was hesitant, reaching out with his much smaller hand and placing it on Nightmare's thumb. In that swirling cyan eyelight, he saw warmth. That eyelight was capable of giving the coldest, paralyzing gaze, but right now, it was soft just for him. It eased Cross' dread quite a bit. He swam up and carefully settled down on his belly in Nightmare's palm. He inhaled sharply as he was lifted up to Nightmare's face, his own becoming slightly purple.
The krakken's other hand came up and two fingers gently gripped Cross, one on his belly and the other under his dorsal fin. They lifted him a little. He didn't realize what was happening until he felt the pressure. Wait. His eyes widened and he immediately began to struggle as he realized Nightmare was pushing him to lay on his back. No. Wait. He couldn't. He couldn't. If he was on his back, he was immobile, and if he was immobile, he was VULNERABLE. His mind ripped him back to that white, tiled room. He could feel the cold equipment on him. He couldn't let it happen. He COULDN'T.
He had already attacked before he meant to. All he could feel was his claws scoring through bone and there was a loud, muffled noise. Presumably one of pain. It wasn't his own. He continued to scratch, writhe and claw, the pressure on his belly and back finally yanking away. Free! He was free! He immediately took off, practically blinded with panic and fear. He smashed into the wall before swimming up towards the light of the surface as fast as he could. He was extremely quick when he needed to be and he fled the trench, disappearing over the side and into the open water.
No, no, not open water. He couldn't be in open water, he was far too exposed. Something would catch him. Something would KILL HIM. Hide. He had to hide. He had to hide. It wasn't like before. Here, he had places to hide. He didn't have to just curl up in a small ball in the corner of his tank. Here, he had COVER. He dove for the nearest set of rocks, dragging himself into a hole underneath of one, him being practically squished against the ground. He curled up best he could, his entire body trembling. He held his head, his eyes screwed shut. All he could hear was his frantic breathing and his pounding heart. Tears were bubbling up from his eyesockets.
After what felt like hours (though it could've only been minutes), Cross managed to calm himself down. He'd been letting out small whimpers the entire time. He trembled in place. Oh stars, what had he done? What had he done??? He'd attacked NIGHTMARE. He'd attacked Nightmare and he hadn't even given him reason or a warning. He had attacked him in front of the shiver. More tears bubbled up from his sockets. He squeezed them shut again, trembling. What if they hated him?? What they thought he was crazy now??? How was he going to explain to them??
Something touched his tail, which was still mostly exposed. He immediately reacted, his tail violently smacking whatever it was. "Ah, fuck!" He heard someone swear in a muffled voice and he froze up. Fuck, he'd done it again. Was that them? Had he really just hurt one of them too? What the fuck was wrong with him?? He covered his face, only to jump as his tail was touched again. His body almost reacted violently again, but the touch was warm. It was warm and he could feel the leather of Dream's gloves as it traced over his tail. It only made him want to cry even more.
He inhaled shakily as he heard Dream's voice, muffled. "Cross? Cross, I'm going to pull you out, okay?" His hand grabbed the base of Cross' tail and he, with strength the thresher never would've suspected from the smaller mer, dragged him out from his hole. Cross didn't try to fight it. He was still stained in blood and now he had mud on himself as well. He was filthy and miserable. He laid, slumped on the ground and he tried to curl up, hiding himself. He felt Dream let go of his tail and that warmth was immediately pressing against one of his sides, keeping him from balling up. "Cross, please, it's alright."
"It's not... Fuck..." Cross' voice was muffled as he hid his head in his hands. Something settled on the other side of him. He felt the hoodie and knew it had to be Dust that was pressed into his other side. Killer had a bruise on the side of his skull as he settled in front of him with Horror. They all gave small nudges to Cross as he weakly asked about Nightmare. Dream quickly assured him that the krakken was not injured in a significant way and that he was waiting for whenever Cross was ready to come home. Cross nodded, but he still couldn't look at any of them. While they were concerned and worried, they were also confused about Cross' sudden freak out and he could practically sense the question burning in all their throats.
"Cross-" Dream was the first to speak, his voice hesitant and Cross knew what he was going to ask and he couldn't tell him. He cut Dream off by shaking his head. He couldn't tell him about that blind panic. How every time he'd been flipped before, it had only ended in painful experimentation and the feeling that he was going to be killed or devoured. There was no way he could look any of his shivermates in the face and tell them that. He couldn't. He just couldn't.
"I-I don't like being flipped... I just... I..." He trailed off as he felt Dream's hand rubbing his back and that gentle voice telling him that they all understood. That they would be sure not to do that to him again. The words, while the thresher heard them, just couldn't seem to click in his mind. Cross continued to mumble weakly, feeling his shivermates pressing against him, giving him gentle nuzzles and nudges. "I... I don't like it... Don't like being flipped..."
