Some things about 616 Bucky's appearance that are non-negotiable:

-Short-to-average height. He should not be tall. He certainly should not be as tall or taller than Namor, Steve Rogers, or Clint Barton.

-Scrawny-to-medium build (varies throughout his life). Regardless, he shouldn't have that bodybuilder Dorito shape. He has muscle, yes, but he's not supposed to be as big as Steve Rogers. Think of the spectrum as between an average WWII-era US soldier and a professional gymnast. He's meant to be agile and stealthy, and especially as the Winter Soldier, he should be able to blend in with a crowd.

-Wavy-to-curly hair texture.

-Brown hair (it can vary in shade but it has to be brown)

-Brown eyes. None of this blue-eyed nonsense. He has brown eyes.

-Most artists don't do this unfortunately but he should really have a lot of scars, both before and after becoming the Winter Soldier.

A little while ago, I came across this scene from the silent film Wings on IG, and I immediately wanted to make a Stucky version of it. It was impossible not to think of them, especially since it reminded me a bit of the rescue scene in CATFA.

I do think it's a little funny how Marvel comics doesn't really know what to do with Bucky Barnes anymore so they just throw him into other titles like Wolverine or Hulk or whatever, when clearly what they should be giving him is either a shared limited series with a resurrected Jack Monroe, or a shared limited series with Toro Raymond where they go on some mission together and maybe also join up with the descendants of the original Young Allies and Kid Commandos.

One of my favourite aspects of the whole Bucky!Cap saga is how most of the other heroes, if they know who he was behind the mask, knew he was Bucky Barnes, but they didn't know he was also the Winter Soldier. They didn't know that the Winter Soldier and Bucky Barnes were once the same person. They knew he was Steve Rogers' famously dead partner who died in 1945, but they lived in a strange enough world that they barely even questioned how he was suddenly alive and looking no older than thirty. It's great, it's hilarious, and it's so comics.
