To the surprise of no one, loyalty was a big part of her rule. Rather than be bought by cheap novelties, or gaudy, superfluous parties like usual rulers before her, she had given the noble class, and anyone seeking to be trusted a simple task; to make sure the people under them were happy and content. The nobles or “leaders” reaction to that task usually showed just what they thought of the working class, and it was easy to weed out the ones who wanted to just develop their own wealth. However, it’s not only the noble scholars she has to watch–but also the military sides of things.
While Miyuki was in charge of the overall military and palace guards, she also tended to training, and sat with other officials relating to the militia. She had made it a point to forgive the soldiers who chased after them, and the leaders who used the excuse of “we were ordered too” but she made it clear they would need to earn privileges, and her trust back.

"Miyu, get off of me! Kuri's cries echo in the hall outside the laboratory, followed by a loud cackle. Within seconds the twins burst through the doors of the lab with a booming entrance. His sister puts her hands on her hips, boasting of her victory in the makeshift race to the lab. The young boy, completely out of breath, does nothing in retaliation.
Immediately shifting gears, Miyuki rushes over towards their father who stands in front of a large shelf of books. Grabbing at what she could of his coat, she looks up towards him with her signature puppy eyes. Soma now occupied, Kuri instead walks over to where his mother sits in front of an array of monitors and keyboards, typing at the speed of light.
"... Mom, what is that? he asks, looking up at a large display screen. A large four-legged creature stands erect and proud, its name in large letters at the side. "Fa... Fa-juu-rah?"
"A Vajra." she answers, looking down to the small boy with amused eyes. Kuri tilts his head slightly, staring at the stagnant model in a piqued silence. From his height, however, it is difficult to see the creature clearly, yet he is nowhere as vocal as his sister when it came to his wants. Instead he purses his lips together, looking down towards the ground in contemplation at what to do. Seeing this, Kaede bends down to pick him up into her arms without another word.
Kuri leans comfortably into his mother's shoulder, nudging his head against her jaw in a nonverbal expression of gratitude. He then turns to look at the monitor once again, now seeing the large Aragami in crystal clear detail.
"Is it strong?" he asks. The veteran God Eater continues to type with speed and precision, even with her child in her arm.
"Not as strong as I am." she replies without missing a beat. The images and words on the screens shift and move, eventually showing another creature next to the Vajra model. It looks very similar: four legs like the animal Kuri recognizes as a lion, but its face, tail, and color are all different. The young boy tilts his head in silence, captivated by the monitors.
Miyuki's laughter is heard from the other side of the room, followed by the noises of tumbling books. Kaede and Kuri turn around to see the young girl having successfully manuevered herself to sit on the back of the unwilling man's neck. She is ecstatic about the sight from her new height, while Soma stares hard at the fallen books on the ground.
"Stop bothering Dad!" Kuri exclaims to his sister. From beside him, Kaede stifles a chuckle at the sight.
"He'll be fine." she reassures her son, speaking loud enough for her husband to hear. She turns back around to return to her work. "He needs some more exercise anyway."
The young boy isn't exactly sure what his mother means by that. But if she was saying it, then it was surely true. Believing in his mother's words, he turns his attention back to her work, leaving his father to suffer at the hands of his rambunctious sister. Leaning his head against Kaede's body and getting himself comfy, he quietly watches her as he listens to the soothing sounds of digital noises and keyboard clacks.
“See? That wasn’t so bad.”
-【 剣 】-
"...Shut it." he murmurs, barely able to speak as he hides his face from view. From around the corner of the hall, Miyuki’s cheerful laughter can be heard as she shows Tal her large marshmallow-shaped plushie, given to her moments ago by Ookurikara himself for White Day. An "I love you a lot, but you’re not allowed to sleep on this, okay? This is mine!" is heard, followed by a loud meow before a pair of footsteps and pawsteps are heard happily retreating to their bedroom.
Ookurikara never needed to say anything to Mitsutada for him to know when he was troubled. The two had known each other even before his island sunk to the depths of the sky, and it had been him that offered him and Tsurumaru a home aboard the ship. Out of all the people aboard the ship, he was the one that knew him best. So it was probably a good thing that Mitsutada refused to relay the gift to Miyuki in place of him, telling him that it would only be acceptable if he did it himself.
But there were some things that Mitsutada didn’t have to know about. Like the small smile he unconsciously made upon seeing her ecstatic face, the sudden kiss of gratitude that she gave him on his cheek right afterwards, his expression of utter shock upon realizing what just happened, the vibrant crimson that blossomed on his cheeks immediately after she turned away—
From behind the hand that covers his embarrassment, Ookurikara can tell from the other’s glinting eye what he’s going to say next.
'In fact, didn't it go better than you expected?'
"I’m leaving." he says quickly, not wanting to give Mitsutada the chance to voice his malicious implications. His eyebrows narrow even more as he hears his knowing chuckle from behind him as he flees to his room.
He was never going to let him live this down, was he?
“I wish you luck, I truly do.”

"Are you mocking me?"
Enraged eyes flicker between brilliant gold and fiery crimson as they glares holes at the underworld god. To be fair, Hades wasn’t as foolish as Zeus, neither in his words nor actions, but surely he knew better than to attempt any form of pity at the war god. It took little to nothing to set him off, and it was known amongst the gods that looking down upon him was one of the worst things you could do.
"Luck is for the foolish." Like the foolish humans that dare to make fun of him. The centuries of disgraceful tales that resulted from their fear of his divine power would prove to fuel his anger for millennia. The one that disgusts him the most is the affair with Aphrodite. As if someone like him would even get close to that despicable harlot—even being near her made him want to decimate some nearby cities.
The only thing those insects got right was his uncontrollable rage.
"If you keep saying things like that, I won’t hesitate to cut you down either, god of the underworld or not." It was a mostly empty threat; no one could fathom what would happen to the underworld without its ruler. But the strength and power that his anger fueled was in no way shallow, and it was a notion that many of the other gods knew full well.
“It’s a bit cryptic, wouldn’t you say?”

The primal looks down at what his captain is referring to—faint words carved into the smooth surface of the rock altar. The cave they had been tasked to explore is damp and dark; the only light illuminating their way is a strange blue that comes from the stalactites hanging from the low ceiling. It is barely enough for the primal to make out what is written there, but he does his best nonetheless.
To thy east layeth the ruins of timeTo thy west, the boundless sky.But where the dusk and daybreak meetBeyond the crevice lies what thou seek.
Ookurikara looks up to what lies beyond the altar. Three identical paths, each stretching into different directions deeper within. There is nothing he can make out from within their pitch blackness, all equally as ominous as the difficult trek they had coming this far. Combined with the savage monsters and lack of space, fighting had been a task more difficult than it had to be. Surely if a primal such as himself was getting aggravated, he was sure that Kaede felt no less.
“Not really. The primal of Augenblick talked like this sometimes.” His voice is more stoic than usual, tinged with an uncharacteristic sadness. He doesn’t know if Kaede knew about her existence, nor whether the captain even knew of the name Augenblick, the former name of the island she found him on. He recalls the words her singing voice once told him decades ago, laughter pulling upwards the edges of her lips.
‘It’s more fun this way, don’t you think? They can’t say I’m wrong if they don’t understand in the first place!’
A bittersweet melancholy shrouds his golden eyes as he examines the area in silence. Yet a slight rage soon builds within him when the image of a particular six-winged primarch appears in his mind. Now wasn’t the time.
“Here.” He motions to a slender and inconspicuous fissure at the joint of the cavern, covered over by centuries of moss and fallen rocks. To the untrained eye it looks just like a normal crack between rocks, but upon closer inspection, the smooth edges and unusual depth implies its manmade nature. Its shape is just slender enough to fit the blade of a sword in, piquing his memory. Its location at the horizon of the cavern wall and floor, combined with the story of a sword in stone that he heard from a time of no humans, tells him that this is the right way to continue.
“This is how we continue.” The expression on his face has returned to its usual careless expression. His bare arm reaches to unsheathe a sword, preparing to stab it within the fissure while indifferent to Kaede’s bewilderment. “Are you ready to go?”

〖 angry dad sandalphon 〗
⚔ ;
❛ If I did something, it’ll just make you angrier. You can’t stay like this forever even if you’re immortal. ❜
The primarch feels the wave of power tense in the air but he keeps his red gaze impassive. The other couldn’t bully him off the island; he wasn’t as weak as the few who ventured here. For a moment he debates to indulge the idea of a fight. He was bad with words, but maybe actions could get through the war primal’s thick skull.
❛ Not everyone who ventures here has a rotten core–some are just looking for an adventure. If you took the time to explain what’s on here instead of ruthlessly killing everything that lands here it could prevent more bloodshed. ❜
Or so he’d like to believe; has to believe. The people of the sky had the potential to grow, and improve. He can see what Lucifer had seen in them all those years ago–at least he’d like to think so.
❛ Give them a warning; watch them first. See what kind of people they are. Don’t assume all humans are the same. ❜

Ookurikara's eyes narrow at the other's words as a bitter laugh gets caught in his throat. Sandalphon isn't wrong about that. Even now, the dark grudge he bears against the primarch for having put her to sleep all those years ago still burns strong. Even if he knew better than anyone how badly she needed to rest, the regret of ever having left her side in the first place continues to gnaw at his conscience.
The mere memory of her fragile body lying unmoving in her favorite spot of the cave makes him put a hand on the hilt of his blade.
"Easier said than done." he scoffs shortly, his mood for conversation now gone. The angel hadn't been here to suffer all those arduous years of failed compromises on deaf ears. He hadn't seen how much more effective a blade to the lungs were compared to meaningless words. Or so he believed.
His grip tightens around the hilt, eyes glowing with power and remorse. Words had done nothing for them then. Why should they do anything now?
〖 annoying dad sandalphon 〗
⚔ ;
A sigh leaves his lips, hand coming to ruffle his hair in exasperation. The primarch knows in the other’s point of view, he was doing the right thing; keeping the ones who ruined their serenity off the island so they could never harm her again. But there were other ways that didn’t involve murdering every human who stepped foot on this island.
Sooner or later, an innocent was going to die from the war primal’s rampage. Like other primals he’s seen and fought, the other will fall to the clutches of madness and go berserk. A berserk war primal was the last thing the skies needed; he had to stop it now.
Sandalphon lands on the ground, brown wings disappearing as he does so. He hasn’t gotten attacked yet so maybe he can push his luck; just a little.
❛ Your intentions are good, but the way you carry it out is terrible. ❜
The words form slowly as a another frown forms. Lips press together to sigh again–he needed a cup of coffee before doing this.
❛ Even if you throw the bodies over the edge, it won’t change the fact you’re spilling more blood here. ❜
He clicks his tongue in thought before continuing.
❛ This place is already a graveyard. There’s no sense in adding to the bodies here. Would she want to live in a place where you see a rotting corpse or blood stain every twenty steps? ❜
-【 剣 】-
His hand clenches around the sheath of his sword in anger. It takes every fiber of his being to keep himself from drawing the blade and slashing at the other's mouth that spewed words he knew were right. She had never liked strife and conflict, a pacifist that always tried to resolve things with gentle guidance. The primal feels like he is being choked when he imagines what kind of face she would be making if she could see him now.
But he was a primal of war. He was made for fighting, for killing. It was his very purpose. What else was he supposed to do?
"You think talking is enough to convince bandits and treasure hunters from uprooting the place?" he spits, yellow eyes flickering as his power fluctuates. The notion itself is foolish—surely, even Sandalphon knew that. There was nothing that could stop a stubborn human blinded by the allure of glory and fame.
Not even her weak pleas and dimming eyes, which were more painful than any weapon to ever pierce his skin.
"If you care so much about whether they die or not, you do something about it. Even killing flies gets annoying when there's enough of them."

"....." The uchigatana stares at her pointedly, trying to figure out whether she is trying to pull a fast one on him again. He wouldn't put it past her to do it either, for her demeanor greatly resembled Tsurumaru's at times. Most times, actually.
"... You're telling me someone lived under the streets. In sewers." he states, voice flat and in mild disbelief. Ookurikara still isn't sure what a 'sewer' even was, but going from what the sage had been telling him, it didn't sound like a place suitable for living in.
‘ whatever is going on out there, stop it. ‘ -sandad or sandman

Loud meows echo throughout the home before Ookurikara peeks his head into the kitchen, giving the man lounging at the table a sharp glare. His hair is messy, scratch marks covering his face and exposed arms. Behind him more cat noises can be heard as they bicker and fight with one another, for whatever reason cats fought each other for. A crash can be heard from somewhere else, followed by Mitsutada and Miyuki's voices of despair.
"You wanna take care of it then?" he exasperatedly asks, withholding the urge to call him a prick. Where the hell was Kaede when you needed her?
‘ kill the bad ones, yes. not the good. ‘ -eustace??

His eyes narrow at the notion that the Erune informs him of. It sounds foolish to his ears: were there even such a thing as good people? The primal holds back a bitter laugh—he doesn't even bother pondering that question for an answer.
From their spot on the roof, the primal looks down through the windows of the large hall they are to ambush. There are some black market dealings being conducted here that authorities want stopped... or something like that. Ookurikara honestly just wanted to get this over with—purging the entire place would be an easy task if he didn't have to hand-pick which ones to eliminate.
"How am I supposed to tell." he asks, both a literal and metaphorical question at once. Everyone inside is dressed in the plain and standard clothes of the middle and lower classes; to him, they all looked the same.
‘ why does that matter? ‘ - jaMIL
-【 剣 】-
"Because they bring ruin wherever they go. They never learn their lesson." The primal's eyes glow an foreboding yellow as they watch the bandits they apprehended get hauled away. The assassin looks at him with what appeared to be a combination of confusion and anger—he had to physically prevent him from slashing their throats earlier. Yet Ookurikara is the one that should be confused: why should such a damned race be allowed to exist when all they wanted to do was destroy?
"Tch." He doesn't want to bother explaining himself, and to a human no less. Ookurikara storms off, leaving Jamil to deal with the grateful clients.
‘ i believe that kaede is good and i care about her. ‘ oops

"Hn." Tell him something he didn't know. Ookurikara doesn't miss the gentle smiles and longing gazes he sends Kaede's way whenever she's not looking every time they visited Detiree. Even Taikogane, young as he was, picked up on the unspoken words. Mitsutada's infatuation with the young woman is a topic of conversation that often springs up whenever he isn't on board.
"I'm not telling you to not care about her." he sighs in futility. "Just that you're going to put everyone at risk if you're seriously considering fighting those two guys in order to protect her." No one in the crew could understand their true intentions, but instigating conflicts was not the best option when they had non-combatants on board. He is sure Mitsutada knows at least that much, or so he hopes.
‘ now, nothing to hunt. nothing to eat. ‘

Ookurikara shoots a glance at the Old-Type and his comment. There they stood in a makeshift base out in the middle of nowhere, resting before they embarked on the second part of their mission. Sitting quietly in a chair is Mitsutada, lost in a well-needed nap after leading them in the tedious first half.
"They'll come to you if you stand outside long enough." he states flatly, wiping stains and residue off the teeth of his chainsaw blade. It isn't really what he would call a 'good idea,' but whether Soma wants to entertain it or not is none of his business.
‘ i came to help you. ‘

Muted golden eyes stare at the tachi after he dealt his fatal attack, sliding his blade back into its scabbard in a slow, graceful movement. At Mikazuki's feet lies the still form of an enemy oodachi, now dissolving into a wisp of black mist. Though he is loathe to admit it, Ookurikara is sure that he would have been struggling for much longer had the tachi not appeared when he did.
"Thanks." is the only word that comes out of his mouth. A part of him feels slighted that his saniwa had to send backup, but to his surprise the notion is not as intense as it would have been in the past.
"Did she tell you about the situation here?"
