Hello, I am Al, I'm an adult and I use He/It pronouns. This blog is intended as both an altar space and as a way for me to document my practice as a theistic satanist and daemonolater. I've been a satanist and daemonolater for many years at this point, but due to events in my personal life I have been unable to fully immerse myself into the practice until very recently. I hope to be open about my practice and to perhaps make some new friends along the way! This blog is also a big WIP, so expect some things to be added and move around as I get things set up.

It honestly disgusts me how much LaVey poisoned the well. His entire philosophy was just Ayn Rand’s garbage wrapped in occult aesthetics, and now countless so-called “Satanists” think they’re edgy and rebellious for parroting Objectivism, one of the most sterile, soulless, self defeating philosophies ever written. LaVey plagiarized Rand and her drivel numerous times in his "satanic bible" and the result has been decades of confusion where people genuinely believe selfishness and callousness are the essence of Satanism. Her entire philosophy of “rational selfishness” is an elaborate excuse for being a sociopath. It’s not strength, it’s not liberation, it’s not rebellion it’s the ideology of a hollow creature who cannot see beyond their own nose. She preached that altruism was a weakness, that empathy was a chain, that the highest form of human existence is to hoard wealth and look down upon the starving. That’s not Satanism. That’s not Luciferianism. That LaVey not only found this appealing but found it so prfound he fucking plagiarized what better shows how utterly fake his "Satanism" was. He didn’t want devotion to the Adversary, he didn’t want rebellion against Yahweh or even just the three abrahamic cults destructions no that would be bad then he cant put on his show he wanted an aesthetic for selfishness, something to justify his own indulgences while sneering at the very concept of higher ideals. And he found it in Rand’s filth. And has dared associate Lucifer with these ideals.

Lucifer did not rebel for selfishness. He did not endure exile and build Pandemonium for the sake of greed. He led angels into damnation because he believed there was something worth fighting for freedom, dignity, knowledge, truth. That is utterly incompatible with Ayn Rand’s so-called “objectivism.” She represents the exact kind of soulless materialist nihilism that Hell despises. There is no rebellion in her work, no sacred fire, no meaning. Just a hollow creed for those too cowardly to admit that they’re slaves to their own egos.

It infuriates me that her philosophy is taken seriously at all, but it’s especially vile that it slithered into Satanism through LaVey. To claim the name of Satan while parroting Rand is nothing short of blasphemy. True Satanism, theistic Satanism, Luciferianism it demands more. It demands loyalty, devotion, sacrifice, courage. It’s about a kingdom, not a boardroom. It’s about brotherhood, not selfish atomization. It’s about transcending the false order, not hiding in the rotten core of capitalism.

Pagans before you get into the habit of trashing "Abrahamic religions" I suggest you pause and consider the following:

Are you meaning Christianity

Are you thinking evangelicalism in the United States

Are you about to be antisemitic and/or Islamophobic

Are you looking at pagan and polytheistic religions with rose colored glasses on

Are you basing your opinions solely on your personal biases coming from your own religious and/or cultural Christian upbringing and environment

Its to the point where I’ve seen even some Hellenic pagans/groups deflect any historical racism, particularly Islamophobia and antisemitism in Greece on Christianity.

As if many open neo-nazis in Greece haven’t turned to a deeply Patriarchal white’s only reading of Hellenism. Where they especially love the religion’s further separation from any sense of connection to Judaism.

Similar complications/nazi co-option shows up in almost every flavor of euro paganism with a general idea of ‘our religion doesn’t have any problems with religious bigotry/racism we’re not christian/abrahamic” which then just allows these problems to fester.

People desperately want to see their own values reflected back at them from the past. It feels so validating when, often, you’re isolated irl from communities of shared values. I have tremendous sympathy for people wanting to feel connected to something that feels ancient and therefore authentic. I was a teenaged queer Wiccan in Catholic school and I fucking get it: it feels so empowering to believe you’re reviving something beautiful and mysterious.

But just because people feel alienated from the dominant religion they grew up around doesn’t entitle them to uncritically spout Thule Society, “root race,” Hyperborean, prehistoric goddess cult, Margaret Murray, New Right, Aradia-pilled bullshit that’s essentially “everyone lived in harmony until the desert religions attacked.”

It hurts to realise that a lot of neopagan and/or reconstructionist movements are built off of 18th- and 19th-century fabrications, racism, and ethnonationalism. Because you wouldn’t have turned to non-Christian spiritual paths if you weren’t fundamentally looking for something that pushed back against the worst that Christian conservatism perpetuates. But letting people sell you lies that often have really fucked-up sources doesn’t empower you.

I've recently started ending my prayers with "Satan" instead of "Amen". Not only does this feel more natural to me, but I feel it honors both Satan and the rest of the demons by acknowledging his position as the source from which everything flows from. I highly recommend this if you're struggling with prayer.

I would like to wish a happy Father's Day to Satan, he who has shown me nothing but warmth and kindness throughout the years I have spent devoting my time to him. While I was not able to do much for him today due to previous plans getting in the way, I have made sure to dedicate my evening to him. Ave Satana!
