Nathalie and Duusu are THE most underrated duo in the show.

ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN WHY..

1. Their dynamic is extremely unique. This is the ONLY kwami-villain duo that get along

Nathalie treats Duusu like a friend rather than a tool. In their canon interactions, they have conversations that go both ways, and they hear out what the other has to say. Duusu shows concern for her holder every time she uses the miraculous, however she respects her decision to continue using it. Additionally, Duusu doesn’t seem to mind what Nathalie is doing with the miraculous. (Except her “I had a dream that I fell into very bad hands” line, BUT, you could actually interpret this as a reference to Duusu being passed around the Kingdom members as a babymaker). This is different to Gabriel and Nooroo, seeing as Nooroo actively disagrees with his holder and tries to stop him, which aggravates Gabriel (they’re a really bad match). Nooroo with Lila isn’t even allowed to speak.

Duusu seems very autonomous when Nathalie owns her, and we can see this through her difference in behaviour around Gabriel and Nathalie. Around Nathalie, Duusu is free to be her lively self, and judging by the way she flies around, Nathalie may not have even put movement limits on her (or at least, they are bigger than Nooroo’s; although if Duusu has no limits at all, that would imply that she actually chooses to stay with Nathalie, despite the fact that she could easily fly away). Meanwhile, Duusu is very quiet when Gabriel is her holder, suggesting that she no longer has the autonomy that she had with Nathalie as her holder.

(ONE more bonus thing for this point: Duusu was passed around the Kingdom members to make babies, she made them sick and they died. Nathalie is the only person who held onto her, who was selfless, who used her for someone else’s sake. Even if the acts that Nathalie was committing were evil, they were never selfish, and I feel like that’s important here.)

2. The way that Duusu cares about Nathalie

Duusu always looked out for Nathalie. She was concerned about her illness. Also, you can see that Duusu STILL cares about Nathalie even when she isn’t her holder anymore, as seen when Felix first gets Duusu, and the first thing she says is “Where’s Nathalie?”

3. Their personalities are complete opposites, yet they seem to be a good match

Their bond honestly reminds me of Adrien and Plagg in this respect. Duusu is lively, friendly and expressive, contrary to Nathalie who is calm, reserved and cold. Duusu is the type of kwami to fly around the office excitedly, while Nathalie works.

Their bond could also be similar to Marinette and Tikki in some ways, and even to Gabriel and Nooroo. Duusu could encourage Nathalie to try and stop Gabriel/accept her role as Adrien’s second mother, just like Tikki does for Marinette. She could also try to convince Nathalie to stop being a supervillain, I feel like Duusu wouldn’t be shut down if she tried. I don’t think she would be successful, but she certainly wouldn’t suffer because of it.

There was just so much that they could’ve done with this dynamic. Same with Gabriel and Nooroo. Villain and kwami dynamics are so underrated.

Also as a bonus:

Imagine Duusu being attached to her holders the longer they keep her.

Imagine Nathalie in season 5 being angry at Gabriel for trading away the peacock miraculous, with it, her only friend, Duusu.

Imagine Nathalie and Duusu interacting again in season 6, after she betrayed Gabriel

Imagine Duusu and Nathalie having a shared dislike for the Kingdom, because they were both used as tools by them

Watching the third episode of miraculous secrets, I am now wondering if Marinette’s big lie was actually an accidental consequence of the wish.

The secret of Monarch died with Gabriel, so perhaps, in order for the universe to remain balanced, the secret had to live with someone else instead. Marinette.
