So if you have at least a passing knowledge of Christianity, it's not hard to identify that Persona 5 uses a lot of its imagery and themes in telling its story. The prominent use of the seven deadly sins, angels and devils, probably a thousand other things I won't take the time to identify right now. So it's not a surprise that it draws parallels to the most famous pillar of this wide religious umbrella, Jesus.
And maybe, like me, your first thought for a Jesus parallel would be Joker. Imprisoned despite having committed no crime, leads a group of people largely shunned by society, "dies" to protect others and then "resurrects" later. And you wouldn't be wrong to suggest that, but a character who better fits as the Jesus stand-in is Morgana.
Morgana was created by a powerful being to bring hope to humanity, to provide guidance to the trickster in order to save humanity, much like Jesus was created by God to save humanity. And while Joker is the leader of the Phantom Thieves, the one at the heart of it all, the one who gave them the guidance they needed to become the Phantom Thieves in the first place.
Jumping forward to the depths of Mementos, when Morgana regains his memories, he realizes that destroying Yaldabaoth and erasing Mementos will be the end of him. He goes through with it anyway, knowingly dying to save humanity. And as he disappears, he ascends to the sky, much like, you guessed it, Jesus does! And then after Morgana essentially dies for humanity, he is resurrected and returns to his group.
*points to Morgana* The cat is Jesus. You guys, I'm pretty sure that cat is Jesus.
