Ze being aware enough of his situation and the tendencies he's falling into but being unable to break out of those habits. Ze going too far and only realizing afterwards what he's done and feeling terrible about it. Ze yelling at Moe and only catching himself after he's already yelled at her and thinking he's becoming his father. Ze thinking he's a selfish piece of shit and a lost cause because no matter how hard he tries he can't convince himself that he's a good person which means everyone around him must think he's a terrible person. Ze knowing nothing about Micha except what Regect has told him and going down the hole to prove that he isn't a selfish piece of shit, that he can be selfless and care about others, and that even if he is too far gone he can at least try to make that final sacrifice so that maybe he can prove to others and himself that he isn't a terrible person. Ze taking one step forward and a million steps back, and doing anything he can to break the cycle even if he doesn't think he's capable of it.
