I really enjoy Oli Orionsound's friendship with Pearl because he is one of her biggest hypemen and does not allow her to downplay her accomplishments like she is prone to do. I'm not sure if a lot of hermit fans know this because they aren't a duo people talk about much but they are very close long term friends and you can see it in all their interactions.

I especially appreciate how when it comes to something like Peardle Oli always makes sure that Pearl is the focus and that he is merely just highlighting her work. He wrote an entire banger theme song, sure, but he always redirects any attention on him back to Pearl because that's her thing! Her name is in the title! She learned redstone by inventing wordle in minecraft by herself!!! That's insane!!!

During yesterday's stream when they were announcing Peardle for upcoming charity event he straight up refused to be the one to announce it because it wasn't his place to. He's the co-host but that's Pearl's baby and he'd never take that attention from her. It's honestly kind of refreshing especially given how male-centric the streaming sphere is that he is always very conscious of any undeserved attention on him and makes sure that it gets rightfully redirected to the person who actually deserves the praise.

He's not a subtle person and he sticks out a lot in groups. He's loud and playfully obnoxious so it's really sweet to have him use that energy to make sure Pearl isn't able to deny that she's done some really impressive things. Pearl isn't a person who seeks out praise and attention and she's often very hard on herself so it's easy for her to forget just how talented she is. Oli comes in with a spotlight and loudly encourages everyone to talk about how insanely cool she is just to remind her. Pearl has a lot of friends who are fans of her work but I think Oli may be in the running for number one. She is the coolest person to him and he does not let her forget that.

It's also very important to acknowledge that Oli is Pearl's little guy and she loves his antics. Pearl is the one who invites him to HermitCraft events because that is her emotional support little guy. Their dynamic is Pearl is a queen and Oli is her beloved jester. They're a really underrated duo.

literally every anti-polyamory caricature I've ever seen has just been filled with this latent rage that people that are "ugly" or "weird" are able to be desired by multiple people. fat people, autistic people, people who talk weird or have disabilities or even who are a bit cringey about their relationships - there's just a desire to discredit the fact that they're wanted and loved by portraying their relationships as intrinsically shallow. it could not be more of a self-admitting L if it tried to be. mad that people you hate are still capable of being wanted aren't you!

thinking about Pearl's stinger from the end of vampires smp again...it's a really cute, funny scene but also like, what DID she and Cleo do after that? like how do you handle being less than a month into your existence as a vampire, and then finding out that you're a werewolf too? I like the idea that they (or just Cleo, depending on how much control werewolf!Pearl actually has) would call someone in to figure things out, just on that first night...but of course a lot of the people they'd trust most, particularly Legs, are dead...

is it. is it too 3G's pilled of me to say I think Cleo would ask Scott for help. giving him a chance to prove he really is trying to be better, and also maybe taking some vindictive satisfaction in watching him get tossed around by a giant puppy...

I'm fascinated by the line "don't need to scream if you ain't got a mouth" that Caine delivers in his villain song, because while it's obviously the strongest reference to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream in the entire show, I think it also starkly illustrates the biggest difference between Caine and AM: that Caine is way, way more vulnerable to criticism.

The original line is delivered by the last human: it's Ted's sad internal lament that he's become unable to even express his pain, which is its own form of psychological horror. It's AM's final, cruelest joke. But here the line is instead delivered BY the AI. Caine did his best to please the humans. But the humans just WON'T stop complaining! And that's torture for him. So rather than listening to them, which would take willingness to reflect and improve, he just takes their mouths away, so they can't complain anymore.

Rather than being a cruelty inflicted on the humans, it reframes the whole line as a way for the AI to protect its ego. It's Caine going "la la la I can't hear you." It's not a clever form of torture, it's just pathetic and childish. Caine's ego is his biggest flaw. And it's what gets him killed.
