while I don't think I'll ever deactivate, I don't see much good in continued use of a platform that's increasingly noxious at the staff and blog level, beyond firing off occasional joke posts like signal flares to find more tgirls with the same hobbies, and replying to asks I get about Maidism and whatnot.

We've been working to maid-enize our speech patterns; while it's somewhat slow going and we are still somewhat in the catch and correct phase, we've even got 2 therapists to accidentally use maid as default now ≽^ᴗ^≼

I know this is going to make me sound extremely "old man yells at could", but I feel like the concept of "Civic Duty" needs to be brought up in our conversations on the left more often. Like, you do have a responsibility and a duty of care for the world around you. You have a duty to make it a better place, not one you should "get in trouble" for failing, but one you should at the very least strive to uphold.

From the viewpoint of a private property economy, the “gift” is deemed to be “free” because we obtain it free of charge, at no cost. But in the gift economy, gifts are not free. The essence of the gift is that it creates a set of relationships. The currency of a gift economy is, at its root, reciprocity. In Western thinking, private land is understood to be a “bundle of rights,” whereas in a gift economy property has a “bundle of responsibilities” attached.

Cultures of gratitude must also be cultures of reciprocity. Each person, human or no, is bound to every other in a reciprocal relationship. Just as all beings have a duty to me, I have a duty to them. If an animal gives its life to feed me, I am in turn bound to support its life. If I receive a stream’s gift of pure water, then I am responsible for returning a gift in kind. An integral part of a human’s education is to know those duties and how to perform them.

I think this apathy derives from alienation; from community, land, work, political decisionmaking, food, goods, the list goes on. Rekindling those relationships goes hand in hand with fostering reciprocity, which is the issue with any duty; it has to go both ways.

Our societal institutions actively obscure and dismantle those relationships which Kropotkin described as mutual aid, and Marx outlined as "from each according to [her] ability, to each according to [her] need," rather than facilitate them. It is up to us on the left to build those relationships and defend them where they exist.

Also thank you to her sisters corn and squash for helping beans grow, if your circle isn't talking about the lessons to be learned about mutual aid from the Three Sisters intercropping method then you need a new circle

I've played a lot of amazing tabletop rpgs made by women (particularly trans women) but I don't know of as many wargames made by us. I'd like to start a list of tabletop wargames made by women, as someone who makes wargames by and for women. If you're a woman who's made a wargame, or know of one, please share below!

I'll start: my wargame RIFLEMAID is a miniature-agnostic 15mm scale card-based skirmish game designed for fast, realistic modern/scifi urban combat without attack actions: if an infantrymaid sees a contact, the two exchange gunfire and one always becomes suppressed or a casualty.

Most of the comments and tags I've gotten have been from girls who have a wargame that's Work-In-Progress and stalled out for the usual reasons, but it's become clear to me, and my friend @ribstongrowback who put out a similar call on bluesky, that the social networks that exist among women designing rpgs are absent when it comes to miniature wargaming, whose spaces aren't always exactly progressive.

In an attempt to remedy this, we've put together the Women's Wargaming Workshop discord (working title) as a place for women interested in wargame design to talk shop, get advice, help each other playtest, and generally overcome the comparatively lacking access and support women have in this field that makes it difficult for those WIP or dreamt-of projects to make it to a playable state. do i think you should be allowed to cut someone off and continue to understand what they did was wrong? do i think you're allowed to be angry and frustrated and upset with them? yes obviously. but i also think that doeant give you carte blanche to go on and ruin their life.

but whenever a discussion on punitive "justice" comes up people see "maybe abusers shouldnt be killed or indefinitely tortured for their transgressions" a hundred people incredulously respond "oh you want abused people to forgive their abusers?". and well, that depends on what you mean by forgive.
